Which one do you recommend if the budget is 8-12k?

Airoh definitely..!!

It's super light and gives very good protection, it has the required proper certifications.
But the down side to Airoh is that the visor is very very costly and hard to source, just the visor to replace might cost you 4k or more.

This gives options for HJC models , not the high end varients, but somewhere in the middle models might fit within the budget.

generally most of the imported reputed brands helmet visors are unbreakable,however its the scratches that one has to take care off.Airoh and other top italian brands have taken a downfall in sales primarily cause of new entrants like SOL / MT /KYT /Genuine LS 2 ,a chart at sharp uk govt safety scheme is enough to see the price difference and safety stars between airoh and other players,Airoh Arai AGV have fared almost the same test result with the brands of helmet which cost as much as Arai/Airoh visors, its just the Italian tag with almost zero wind noise which sets these high end products apart from the cheaper brands(cheap as in when compared to the pricing of Airoh/AGV etc

Usually almost, all removable linings are washable. If you observe, blackening of the outer edges and or the inner side of the the cheek pads it's a good idea to wash them. Considering most helmets these days even have their crown liner inside the helmet, which are removable and washable. Use mild detergent with warm water, and rinse it for 15 to 20 mins and squeeze them (as you'd do with a sponge), do not brush or wring, as the threads which are stitched to the plastic might give away making the liner non usable.

Bachoo Motors deal with genuine AIROH and HJC is offered by Performance Racing Store. Bachoo Motors aren't that great when it comes to backup support especially if the buyer is lightyears away. And spares if any for the AIROH are exorbitantly priced. Imagine a visor costing 7500. But being lightweight, good build quality, though I wouldn't say it's a value for money proposition, it could have been a tad lesser for the quality AIROH offers. The only catch phrase being it Made in Italy.

The helmet market has almost become a flea market out there, with different manufacturers offering different helmets, rebranded helmets. Just having a look at them wouldn't be a bad idea after all.

You'll have to replace the visor, if it picks up enough scratches to hinder your day vision and cause scattering of light from oncoming vehicles at night.

Your handling and storage of helmet is important too.

You may be super careful while handling your helmet but you'd have to handover the helmet at mall baggage counters or lock it with you bike.

So take that into consideration as well.

HJC, AGV -- but it's ultimately upto you to decide which one you like, both are very commendable helmets. My personal opinion would be, AGV.

Performance Racing are based out of Mumbai, and they are genuine resellers of AGV other helmets, you can perhaps get in touch with them, price might be on the higher side.

Purchased Vega Axor for my Dad mostly for city commutes. Cost ₹2420 here in Pune at Laxmi automobiles. The padding so pretty good and is removable and washable. But most importantly it says ISI and DOT certified.

After selling off my previous LS2 Phobia which I had bought in 2012,I finally checked out the LS2 helmets currently on sale. Shockingly its much lighter than before.Not a single safety rating is there at the back of the helmet and the build quality felt like it was fake. Previously, I had bought the Phobia helmet from the same shop but the vents were too plasticky and the cheekpads were too soft than before. I also checked the THH helmets,not very impressed.
MT helmets remains to be checked out.

If there's no rating then its fake...its that simple. I was almost fooled at one shop in mumbai but later i googled it and came to know that these are Chinese local made helmets.

Has anyone bought any riding gear/ helmet from motosport.com ? I'm thinking of buying HJC CS-R2 Helmet from there. Costs around 7500 + 1100 on Customs. The website seems legit and price alright for the product.
