Isn't the twister just a shifter with DOT and SNELL stickers?

No there are differences in quality and it comes in more shell sizes. I am using one from past 1 year now. It is ece rated not dot and snell.
Does gets noisy at triple digit speeds.

Snell?? lol no. AFAIK no indian manufacturer offer SNELL approved helmets in india. The cheapest Snell helmets in india are HJC CL 17 and FG 17.

          Fair enough.

My point being I dont see it as enough of an upgradeover the shifter.

The MT, I might check out. How much does a yellow visor of the MT cost.

The shifter is a heavy and strong helmet. Apart from the not so great visor mechanism and availability of the visor, they are both manufactured by the same firm Studds. The Twister adds the ECE certification and with mild design changes. The SMK races against the stack as they offer very good add-ons, like PINLOCK and a wide variety of graphics to choose from. I'd recommend the Twister.

              Cheers!

Okay. First and foremost, I tagged you because of this post you wrote, effectively introducing the name SMK to the forum. https://www.xbhp.com/talkies/univers...mets-1546.html

Now secondly, I do, no doubt agree that the SMK is a great helmet, but is it worthy enough a upgrade from a shifter, given that it is built by the same company, and has the same shell? And it costs about 2 and a half times what shifter does.

Yes, pinlock visor as standard, but then, still not convinced that it is an "UPGRADE"

Indeed. PINLOCK is a personal choice, after all, upgrades are all about personal choice, isn't it. Secondly, it definitely is a worthy upgrade from the Shifter to Twister.

                  Cheers!

                      Hi!

I am looking for an helmet but confused between so many good brands available these days. Please suggest atleast brand and if possible model also, that fits my requirements.

Budget - 6-6.5k (can stretch a bit more)
Size - My head is 54-55cm, I guess SMALL will fit my head. As of now I have seen "S" in MT and SMK.
                      Design - full-face; no flip-open.

Is it ok to buy online say from motocentral.in or bikeopedia.in (any other?). I am little inclined towards "MT Revenge binomy" which on the mentioned sites is priced at 7450/-. Can I get it cheaper than this?

                      Thanks

MT thunder 3 is good but lacks ventilation, gets a sun visor. Is 4 star SHARP rated.

MT Revenge is really nice and gets a kwikwick liner too afaik. Is 5 star SHARP rated.

If you can find a friend to carry a helmet from the US, ScorpionEXO 410 is on sale on Amazon.com around 7000 rupees.

                          Hi all,

Need your suggestions regarding a query. I've been looking for a new helmet in the 4k range. Have shortlisted MT Mugello and SMK Twister. Had the LS2 in mind, but I've been told it's not really VFM. Tried both the Mugello and Twister out. Mugello fits snugly when compared to the SMK. But I'm inclined more towards the SMK simply because of the features it offers at the price.

Would like to know how good the wind insulation as well as ventilation is between the two models. I will be doing a lot of highway rides. Hence, fit and wind noise are my primary concerns.

Also, do suggest any good brands I might've missed out on.

Used both, I would pick SMK for features myself. Double D ring doesn't make a hell lot of difference to me. Wind noise is howling in both helmets alike.

Brands/Helmets you missed - Zeus Plasma.
Fit and finish is top notch, friend is using this helmet and I totally love it.

I saw a friends SMK helmet and it was something around 4k.
                              Seemed pretty decent.

They say the liner fabric has wicking properties.

Very nice helmet and very tempting opportunity. But, unfortunately my friends (including me) have sworn to never leave Indian soil (that's what we say).

From your suggestions and few other posts, I am considering MT revenge (price little high) and SMK Twister and may be SOL SL68S.

I was wondering why Zeus (and SMK) are not part of the poll. Are they relatively new and/or less popular brands? I am already considering SMK though.
