I had a simple plain black wrangler helmet previously. I just moved to Chennai a week back, so I gave the old one to a friend. Any good place in Chennai to buy a helmet, reasonable prices (I won't mind shelling a little extra for a good piece and I noticed your location is Chennai ).
Budget is not that crucial anyway, since, I don't want anything flashy or glitzy. A simple one won't cost in the league of some of the helmets I saw on this thread. (Just an assumption)

No harm in buying online, assuming you know the size that would be the perfect fit for you (as suggested by Sunnyside).

I personally picked up my SparX helmet after ensuring I had tried out the helmet to zero in on the size. I ordered my helmet (& boots after about 4 months) from Motorcycle Parts, Motorcycle Accessories ? BikeBandit.com, & the buying experience was more than pleasant.

Some of the online stores you can look at are: www.bikebandit.com, www.motorcycle-superstore.com, www.revzilla.com, www.ridersdiscount.com, www.kneedraggers.com, www.sportbiketrackgear.com, www.newenough.com. All these are based out of USA.

Check for reviews of the various helmets at webbikeworld.com (highly recommended before zeroing on a helmet)

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

      • Got myself a vega corah . white one to go with my white apache .. It fits just right. Not too tight or too loose. I used to use my dad's helmet which kept slipping out of place when I ride so I had to keep pushing it into position constantly. This one feels just right. Now i can concentrate on the biking . Good buy for 1k.

Overtaking in unnecessary if the person in front of you is traveling at your desired speed or more

          • Good Helmet upto 6k

Daijya and Nuvo helemts are available these days with planet DSG, so I thought to go for Nuvo Octane Green Helmet. I ride a Kawasaki Ninja 250r so need a helmet that goes good with it and is really comfortable.
So, I wanted to know are these Helmets worth their money or some other international brands come in the range of 6k

            • I have bought a LS2 from vega showroom at Andheri east. Fits nice and very comfy. the chin strap is fully adjustable for fit unlike my earlier Vega.
I bought it for Rs. 2800. got a balaclava free
BTW mine is LS2 espirit, model no. FF384.2, weight 1500 +-50 grams. But it feels weightless once on your head
anything that can go wrong will surely go wrong at the wrong time and the wrong place

              • Cross has come with a new series of cross cruiser helmets which are much more later than the 910 models.

                has anyone tried it out?

Still need a budget buddy . Plain colours do cost less but not by a whole lot.
