    • I've been doing some research (just Googling, really, but "research" makes me sound smarter) on helmets to help my with a purchasing decision and I found this link - SHARP Helmets - THE HELMET SAFETY SCHEME

It's a UK Department of Transport initiative so I trust it to be unbiased and objective. They do independent testing (protection only, comfort/features not accounted for) of helmets and also mention approximate price so it's quite consumer friendly. Naturally, they test UK models but some of those are available here; You do also get an idea from the results of the quality of certain brands.

Appears to me that Marushin, AGV, LS2 do well. Among other knowns, KBC and Sparx are ok. Nolan and Nuvo do a little better. Surprisingly, Arai doesn't do so great for the price.
When the body wanders, the mind rests.

      • Guys if I buy a cruiser helmet, the open face one. Wont it be uncomfortable on the highways due to the sunlight falling directly on the face?

Sunlight can trouble your sight even with a closed helmet with a transparent visor.
I guess wind would be a bigger problem and will cause fatigue and irritation in eyes

You have bigger problems if you buy an open face helmet. Please purchase a full face helmet only.

Ya. The safety issues and rain issues are bad. Heck it cant even protect my face against dust or cold. The flip up types look good but finding a good quality one that does not flip up during a spill at a good price is tough. I am just looking at Studds, Vega and LS2.

With a full face helmet and sun glasses, very less part of the skin will be directly exposed to the sunlight. So lesser worry.

I agree with wind. Even dust, smoke, rain or even cold! So no to these things.

LS2 has some issues with regards to a minute gap in visor and helmet surface which creates a whistling sound at a particular angle at a little bit of high speeds which is irritating... as far as i know it applies to all models of LS2 but please recheck with experts..

Include a full faced Balaclava and nothing will touch the skin

Yes! On rides in hotter times of the day, I use it. A white one that too.

                        • Guys, my helmet got stolen from Metro Station Parking

Need a helmet now. Please suggest a decent helmet for the price range around 1000 INR.

And, a question. Are those Gliders (dirt helmets styled) helmets safe? I mean, are the just stylish or they have the quality too?

yes, even I heard that they tend to dislocate at higher speeds, thats by I asked.

Bro, the brand names are also known to me. I asked about the options in them, means the models.

Anyways, I checked and found Vega Trojan, Studds Rhyno and Steelbird SB-20 Twix to be suiting my needs and budget. Any reviews on these?
