Dude came across this info. Check it out!

Back protectors are often not included in the standard complement of armor although many jackets allow a back protector to be installed. Because of the more delicate nature of the spinal column, back protectors require that lower levels of force be transmitted. However, in the Cambridge Standard for Motorcyclists Clothing, Roderick Woods asserts that the majority of spinal injuries are caused by blows to the hip and shoulders. In the rare circumstance that a motorcyclist received a direct blow to the back the damage would be unmitigated by armor. The concept of a "back protector" is therefore not endorsed by Woods.

Rjays octane is a mesh jacket as is DSG's Maze, I have an Rjays Octane, it's pretty sweet, the back protector is definitely not CE rated. DSG Maze is pretty good too, I have heard many complaints regarding Crampster gear but have no first hand experience myself.

Get the Octane Camo and cops won't pull you over!
Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

        • DSG Maze is a pretty good Mesh Jacket. I have been using one myself for the last 2 years and am pretty impressed by it.

The swift does have CE approved armour. I have one and it clearly says CE approved on all its protectors

it is also a mesh type jacket akin to the Cramster breezer - for those who do not know which rjays is a mesh type one.

A blow to the back and no riding gear will help! I ain't looking for protection but rather comfort which a lower back protector could give me especially when traversing not so good roads!

Oh that's good to know! Got confused cause the website mentions " Powertector EN1621-1 approved elbow & shoulder armour" for Swift and "C E Approved armour" for Octane

On cramster website it is mentioned that breezer has removeable waterproof and thermal liner but on dsg maze and rjay swift it is mentioned removeable waterproof liner what about thermal liner? And why is cramster much hated product?

                • I too have a RJay's swift. The removable liner is both Waterproof and acts as a thermal insulation too IMO. I think EN1621-1 refers to the particular standard used to test the armor. See Motorcycle armor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for details.

Now could you please tell me the better jacket between Rjays Swift and Cramster Breezer 4.0.

                      Hi,
Rjay's Swift does not have CE approved armour but has EN1621-1 approved elbow & shoulder armour and Hi-Density foam back protector. Check the manufacturer website. On the webpage check the description as well as the features below. CE logo is missing.
Not sure if they ship different version to India.
I use all seasons & it is CE approved.
                      Regards,

                      • ^^ Well my jacket's protectors say it is CE approved in bold letters. So I guess I got a really good deal on the Swift

Yes, the Hi-Density foam back protector isn't CE approved but the Elbow and Shoulders are, as mentioned on the armour itself.

Besides a quick check for 'EN1621-1' online reveals the part type is CE approved , as also mentioned by shubhamAT.

                        • Hi,
I think when they use the CE logo for a jacket, it means that not only the armour but other parts (material etc.) of the Jacket also conforms to the EEA CE norms.
Other than conformance to the Quality Standards (EN1621-1) a manufacturer has to satisfies the legislative requirements of EEA before selling the product in European markets.
Anyway one should at least check if the armour confirms to the quality standards.
One thing I came to know that few Chinese Exporters use CE logo similar to the authentic logo which stands for China Exports or China Electronics!

Reminds me of the Made in USA (UllhaSnAgar) products.

I'm too planning to buy a Jacket soon and confused between the above mentioned two...
If I was able to stretch my budget; would have gone for either RJays Octane (camo) or even Joe Rocket UFO2.0 (Blue/White) ... but I've to buy knee guards too.

I've seen someone wearing Breezer in the Delhi xBhp Brotherhood ride; but didn't notice anyone with RJays Swift.. A comparo between the two would help a lot.

I've been thinking about ordering a bunch of things online as well and was wondering if we could get something more streamlined in place. Something like a MyUS.com premium account. They will throw away the packaging, pack multiple orders together to reduce shipping weight/size, send you pictures before shipping etc.

The problem is cost. The service has an initial setup charge plus a monthly fee plus a per order fee ($20/$7/3-6% respectively) and we'll be paying duties. And they seem to use UPS/FedEx which is more expensive than USPS but probably quicker. They do mention that they will use USPS if requested though.

Do you guys think there are enough shoppers on this forum to make such a joint account feasible? Or does everyone already have friends returning from the US with huge bags (and hearts )?

Any other low-cost shipping ideas welcome!
