Cramster yes, is VFM considering its priced very low. The RJays tailbag that I have is at least 3 times more expensive than the cramster but very well built and yes, worth every penny. I got it from abroad and it cost me around INR 4k (converted from SG$).

Everything starting with the zippers is top notch quality.
I have attached shoulder and elbow guards that came within the jacket. Can someone pls confirm if these are appropriate? Not sure if these really provide enough protection in a crash

That looks like "turtle-shell" type armor. If its a rubber like material with a pretty dense yet slightly spongy feel, then it's the right kind of armor for a textile jacket. Many premium brands use these nowadays instead of the plastic and sponge type found on cheaper jackets. They're more comfortable and also CE specific.

Thats exactly how they are. Certainly makes me rely on them more after reading your replyOriginally posted by Sunnyside_up! View PostIf its a rubber like material with a pretty dense yet slightly spongy feel
Another query. I asked the sales guy if there is any sort of guaratee on the jacket/ parts of it. He said a stubborn NO. After some discussion he agreed that if it turns out to be some manufacturing defect, I will get a replacement.
However, there is a tag inside the jacket (TEXTILE CARE LABEL) which specifies washing instructions and all. As a footnote, it says 'if these instructions are not followed, your guarantee would not be valid'.
Does that clearly mean the jacket comes with a guarantee but the seller does not want to pass it? Or is it because it may not be an international guarantee (another tag says - made in Pakistan)?

The salesman's reticence is probably because he's just that - a salesman - that too of a local dealer, not the primary importer. Getting an international warranty serviced in India is next to impossible, though in all fairness I must give credit to Performance Racing who did just that for me a couple of years ago for a defective pair of boots.
The wash care instructions need to be followed , because improper care/chemicals can damage the construction ( therefore structural integrity) of the garment.
Many of the best brands are actually made in Pakistan, where a major industry for biking gear exists. I've seen that country's labels in Cortech/Tourmaster, Alpinestars, RST, AGV Sport, RJays and Fieldsheer products. Even Dainese leathers!

Thanks for the inputs. As far as I have observed, you have been one of best contributors in this and the 'helmets' thread....Keep doing that and we can keep on being the beneficiariesOriginally posted by Sunnyside_up! Crashed
Left office to pick up my laptop, a less than 1KM ride, crashed at a speed of 35Kmph trying to save an old uncle who error-ed while cycling straight on a 6 lane road.
My brand new Nuvo helmet took the hit, visor is damaged beyond repair (as if visors can be repaired). Scrapped hand (Why wasn't I wearing my gloves), Torn shirt (again I was not wearing my new DSG Maze, god knows why)... Bikes crash guard: mangled, muffler, scrapped....
Thank god I was wearing my helmet.....

Mini review - DSG Nero
Picked up the DSG Nero Jacket and used it on a ride from Coimbatore - Bangalore - Pune - Mumbai - Goa - Karwar - Hubli - Bangalore - Coimbatore (3200kms approx. over 6 days in Jan2012). Found the jacket to be excellent and felt well protected.
I had removed the thermal lining and carried it separately. Did not feel it was required except for one evening near Satara. The air vents closed provided adequate protection from the evening chill. My apprehension based on heaviness of the jacket about it remaining cool during the day were unfounded. It was comfortable through the day while on the bike with all the vents open. It would become unbearably hot if we stopped or were stuck in traffic, but barring that eventuality I found it to be a totally vfm jacket. Did not get to test the waterproofing and crash protection(thankfully) aspects.
Overall very happy with the jacket and would definitely recommend it. A mesh jacket would possibly be better suited for riding in the summer months but the waterproof capability of the Nero for me makes it an ideal all weather jacket, especially if I am unable to invest in 2 jackets for different conditions.Never Give Up.
