RE gear in general have good quality. I personally would recommend them, as I have used their Olive Green gloves for almost three years and still without a single stitch loose and having been taken a tarmac slide somewhere in the middle, they have held up extremely well, and are extremely well made. Surprising for a textile gloves, if it would have been leather, pretty much sure, somewhere a stitch might have gone bust open, but that's my story.

Coming to the boots, RE uses pure leather on most of their boots, unlike synthetic leather on most boots out there, which costs a limb. Leather do take time to bed in, they fit like second skin. Make sure you protect your leather gear and store them safe, they will last longer.

I agree with your views on the RE OG gloves. I also have a pair and I am fully satisfied with its quality. My only grouse is that they are a bit overpriced. The same is true for their other gloves and riding gear.

Other brands like Rynox, Via terra and Bike ratti offer better products for similar or comparable price. The price difference for quality offered is especially noticeable in terms of gloves. Hence I have a few queries regarding RE boots. I am specifically referring to the long boots and the mid rise ones here.

Quality as you have brought out is good. But are they really the best that are available for the asking price from amongst the competition. I hope there are no similarly priced but better products.

Orazo for me does not cut ice in terms of quality and protection. BBG racing boots are too race oriented for touring. Forma Adventure has it all but is too costly. Does RE long boots fill the gap in the middle well in terms of true bang for the buck.

Fellow xbhpians who have used RE boots and other comparably priced touring boots may share their valuable experiences.

One query though..How did you find the torsional protection on the RE boot...Would the boot prevent the foot from getting twisted to dangerous angles. Also does the soul have a steel shank inbuilt. How would you find the boots if you had to hike say 500 mtrs.

Asking for initial impressions only. Plz let us know more details as you break the gear in.

Yes, this boots provides a good torsional protection. I have also checked the long explorer boots in the showroom. Compared to that, this mid rise boots is overall better in the torsional protection. I tried hard to bend my ankle with the boots on, the velcro straps slightly starts to come off and I am able to bend only some 20-25%. I think this is good enough protection, as we cannot expect motocross type level of sturdiness in this category.
And about the steel shank, I didnt checked it as I dont know how to find it. But the website claimed it has one inbuilt. And yes, if we give the boots some time to break in properly, I think it will be comfortable for 500m hike.

Ah, I dont think i can review these gears quite soon. Because, I am very new to these kind of protections. But, I will give some thoughts & share some pictures here. Thanks for quoting me!

1. The Jacket - The protectors are not from safe-tech as claimed in website, but from Powertector! All are big enough! Even the foam chest protector is large & thick. And I feel if I remove the chest protector, the jacket will be more breathable depending on the weather. And, I like the long waist back, it looks good & also holds the rain liner which gives some kinda protection for the back hip. The big reflectors are top notch & clearly visible. And, also I dont find any loose threads & stitching. Worth the money I think! Note, I am a short person at 5.5" & wearing size S.

2. The Boots - The RE website claimed it has genuine YKK zippers. But, it has some other brand zipper. And it feels not so durable. Have to be careful with that. The quality of the material & its stitching is really good. Its soft & comfortable inside. I didn't test its waterproof ability. The protection on the ankle is strong. I tried to twist my ankle with the boots on, but cant able to bend fully. Holds well. Gear shifting is little hard. The boots need some bedding in.

3. The Knee Guards - Comfortable! I never felt I am wearing a knee guard during my short spin. Didn't had any itching feel. Easy to walk. It didnt move up & down. Can easily bend my knees fully. I like that hard shell slider in the knee area which is smooth & I think it will really help in sliding in case of a fall. And the whole product feels strong and sturdy. Morever, its super easy to wear and remove on the go. Also, compact to carry. But somehow it makes me feel that 4000 is little expensive. But there isnt many options for a quality knee guards in a budget.

I had ordered Rynox bastion knee guards as I don't want to compromise on quality. And also I ordered RE mid rise riding boots & Solace sabre mesh jacket. I have done lot of search in the net for past one month. And also I have to thank xbhp and [MENTION=47638]Maxsteel[/MENTION], [MENTION=12169]Midnight[/MENTION]EvilParth, etc in this thread particular.

I got all of them delivered today. Luckily, all was fine & fits me perfect. Did a short spin for 150km wearing them. Nothing faulty & uncomfortable! Initial impressions were good!

The RE mid rise boots which I got for ₹900 less is a solid one for the price. Good protection overall!Thank god, I chose this over Orazo!

The Solace sabre mesh jacket - I got it for ₹850 less in openroad.in Initially, I was looking for Rynox air gt. But, there was an offer for Solace sabre which just costed some ₹1000 bucks more than air gt. So, I went with Solace. Perfect fit! Good quality throughout! More protections! Extra features! Looks classy!

And the Rynox knee guards! Solid & comfy. From the pictures, I thought it will look big & not easy to carry. But it's compact! And goes well with the mid rise boots perfectly.

Hi. Go for Cramster drifter knee guards. Please don't fall for BBG. Their products are just not worth it. As you said,CE certification gives us the confidence and on the plus side it doesn't burn a hole in your pocket. It's 2.8k (around 1.2k lesser than Rynox)

Please Help me in choosing knee guards!
I will buy riding pant later or next year. So, I start to think whether I should put ₹4000 on Rynox knee guards or should I put less money on knee guards like BBG/Cramster and save some money and buy a mesh jacket soon!

Cramster's knee guards are CE certified. Whereas the almost same look-alike ones from BBG are not CE certified. Now, I am confused on which to choose between these. Any inputs much appreciated!!!

If 4K is stretch, go for the Cramster as they are CE certified. You can also check XTS X-Rage these are CE certified too.

BBG products stay away.

Thanks guys, will revisit Orion as they seem to have maximum collection. Getting Aspida Venus for my wife, as we hardly find anything for her (she's really tiny). Next order of business post jackets will be rider denims. Bikeratti i have heard start from 9k, what about dark rider ones?

I bought the Solace defender plus as my first riding jacket back in late 2018 primarily for its waterproof claim and boy what a terrible mistake it was.

It was my first riding gear and I was only focused on the specs that the manufacturer listed. More the specs>better the product: silly me! Rode it on my Ladakh ride last year and around 10K kms before that. I was forced to carry a rain coat at all times coz even the slightest drizzle would let water seep in.

The worst part is yet to come- I bought the jacket from the company store in Bangalore after consulting the owner for over an hour. He had assured me that it's not going to give me any trouble for atleast 3 or 4 years but guess what - they discontinued the product a year later( coz it was shitty )

So net-net, do your research for as long as you can on forums like these and never trust the guys selling you the product. I so wish, someone introduced me to xBhp back then

My only hope- is there something I can do to better my condition, other than saving up enough for a better jacket?

Looking for great suggestions for riding jackets under 8k budget, for riding in and around Bangalore (weekend trips). Also am planning to get pair of riding jeans (with armour) as my vfm solution to daily riding.

I have tried out Aspida Helio, Rynox storm at orion HSR, but would like your final inputs before i make the leap.

Rynox Storm over the Helios for the following reasons.

1) Storms comes with Level 2 (T+ T-) Knox Microlock protectors which has 5 years warranty
2) Comes with a Powertector (Korean brand) back protector
3) Comes with Chest pad, which is missing in the Helios (Upgradable to Rynox Ceros CE protector)
4) External shoulder slider
5) Cordura at Impact zones - Elbow
6) Thermal liner is made from Du Pont sustain, which talks about how the company in particular about the eye to detail in every material (From Cordura to the outer shell to Du Pont Sustain for the Thermal layer)

The fit and finish of Rynox is something I vouch for, based on my experience with their products.

I would recommend you to have a touch and feel of both the gear and make a choice.

For Denim, check the latest Levis + RE collection. But check it on Levis page- they have discount; while RE is not providing any.

Levis is best in the business of making denims and extremely durable ones. They have give protector pockets too. Which you can always get seperately.

Else you can also check Bikerrati for denims.

Also try the solace sabre jacket comes with foam chest protector,can be later upgraded to sas tec chest protector,has safetech level 2 armours at elbow,shoulder and back.I had tried the rynox storm,but the fit of solace sabre was much better.
