Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Hulo folks!
Looking for great suggestions for riding jackets under 8k budget, for riding in and around Bangalore (weekend trips). Also am planning to get pair of riding jeans (with armour) as my vfm solution to daily riding.
I have tried out Aspida Helio, Rynox storm at orion HSR, but would like your final inputs before i make the leap.
Cheers!

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Please Help me in choosing knee guards!
I will buy riding pant later or next year. So, I start to think whether I should put ₹4000 on Rynox knee guards or should I put less money on knee guards like BBG/Cramster and save some money and buy a mesh jacket soon!
Cramster's knee guards are CE certified. Whereas the almost same look-alike ones from BBG are not CE certified. Now, I am confused on which to choose between these. Any inputs much appreciated!!!Originally posted by blackspark3 View PostSo, after searching a lot, I have decided to go for RE short length riding boots and Rynox bionic knee guards. I will update my experience once I bought and used them. My next gear will be a jacket. Hopefully soon! [emoji1422]

MRP is 6500. I ordered it in Royal Enfield official website at a discounted price for ₹5600 using a coupon code which I got during my second service of my bike.Originally posted by Maxsteel View PostHow much RE Short length boot cost?

So, after searching a lot, I have decided to go for RE short length riding boots and Rynox bionic knee guards. I will update my experience once I bought and used them. My next gear will be a jacket. Hopefully soon! [emoji1422]Originally posted by blackspark3 View PostHi all! I am looking to buy riding boots. I own a Himalayan. I already bought MT Thunder helmet & Rynox Tornado gloves. So, my next target was a good mobile phone holder, jacket & knee guards. But recently I realised my legs are much much important than those. So, instead of jacket & phone holder, I decided to invest in riding boots & knee guards.
And I prefer knee guards over riding pants. Because, I am mostly a weekend rider & usually stop & visit temples frequently.
So my search for boots ended on three products.
1. Orazo ankle length boots - ₹3800.
2. RE ankle length boots - ₹6500.
3. Mototech asphalt v2.0 - around ₹8000.
And for knee guards,
1. BBG knee guards - ₹1800.
2. Rynox bionic - ₹3959.
My first choice was Orazo or RE boots & BBG knee guard. So that I can spare some money & buy a jacket soon.
But, suddenly I had this question. Does orazo & RE boots provide sufficient protection to ankle? If not, I can wait sometime & stretch my budget to buy good boots.
For an amateur tourer like me, are Orazo or RE is good enough for ankle protection? Please give me some suggestions/advice and help me in choosing a good combination! Thanks!!!Last edited by blackspark3; 09-18-2020, 08:16 PM.

Could be a way better list I guess. Looks half baked.
To each his own though, I guess.Originally posted by Lone_Rider 0_o View PostHey guys, some useful suggestions here by forum members, including Charkapani.
Ifyou are planning to buy a riding jacket, I came across this useful article on the internet. It has churned out all riding jackets available online and compiled a list on the basis on their price list. From INR 5000 to INR 20,000, these are the Best Riding Jackets In India you can buy online.
Btw, I have been using SOLACE FURIOUS from the list. It costs about 12,000 Rupees and I think you can't find a better jacket in the market at this price tag.Last edited by MidnightEvil Parth; 09-01-2020, 12:23 AM.

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Thanks for the info. With regards to Gore Tex, well I'm actually buying a sports bike, touring is going to be rare, if at all. Family will want to go in the car together, so it's not a consideration for me. The reason I'm considering Revit or Klim is that they seem to make the most sense from a price and quality perspective in India. Dainese is even more over priced here and completely out of contention. For the jacket if I do want to tour, I'm sure adding Decathalon outer and inner liners for the Klim is not an issue to make it some what water/weather proof.Originally posted by Chakrapani View PostGreat news. Good to hear that you have made up your mind. With regard to both models that you have shortlisted light coloured options would be good for our conditions. Make sure you have L2 armour all round. One observation though. Klim Marrakesh is a pure summer jacket and Revit Tornado has a detachable rain lining. When you are investing so much why don't you look for Goretex variants. That would provide you with superb rain protection without any extra layers.
Same goes for your riding pants as well. Kevlar lined jeans will not be waterproof. So plz give a thought to Goretex equipped riding pants as well.
Thing is the jacket and gloves are going to take up the budget for now. I need some pants so figuring out what I can get that wont break the bank while offering a use case should I decide to add to the gear wardrobe further down. To be honest, I'm 100% sure I'll add more gear as funds allow.
So I'm contemplating going the jeans route for now, if they're protective enough. Concerned about the armour in the knees moving around though.
Thanks bro. Definitely going for Level 2. In Klim's case that will require a full armor upgrade while in Revit's I'll have to buy only a back insert. Both will need chest, if I'm so inclined, and truth be told, I probably am.Originally posted by Astrix View PostHey ! Glad to hear that you chose to spring up your budget and directly go for Revit than trying out a domestic brand and then exploring the option of selling it later to upgrade.
Check for Level 2 protectors throughout- Shoulder Elbow back.
Most of the international brands do not provide an built in back protector and it’s a foam insert. So do upgrade it right when you buy the gear.
Benefit with the domestic brands is that almost all of them now provide a level 2 protector- Shoulder elbow back.
From photos it looks like the Revit Seesmart level 2 Armor has better coverage than the D30 Evo T5 that Klim is using.
I was very impressed with the Indian offerings, but their flagship line ups are more suited to hardcore dual sport riding than sports. Agreed that the other two I'm considering are also touring oriented, but atleast they're light. I haven't found a sports cut Jacket I like that would word. The Revit Vertex Air came close but it's got some weird thing going where it doesn't stretch at all. So it gets uncomfortable. Dainese Dianmica 3D Dry was fantastic but definitely crazily expensive here. 37 grand with only level 1. I'll need to upgrade everything to level 2 and buy the back seperately. Abroad it can be had for 25 grand on a good deal. So I'm definitely avoiding Dainese in India.Last edited by theEntreriCode; 08-30-2020, 09:34 AM.

Still need to try them on as there is no stock of the former and have to make time to go check out the latter. Just concerened about the small Armor distribution of Klim.
Coming to pants, was wondering how the Bikeratti or Solace jeans would be. I figured I might as well get some nice pants as well, but that will take me some time to figure out. With Jeans, they'd be nice to have for City rides as a second pair. I really like 4SR jeans, but can't try them out here.

Storm EVO jacket for city commute and breakfast rides. I own all of the above and hence my recommendation.
Both the jackets have chest protectors. Stealth EVo comes with Cerros protection which can be fitted in the storm EVO. Hence you can have the best of both worlds.
Build quality is good and protection offered is top notch. Plz make sure you go to a shop and try out for fit. Then you may order online.
Hope this helps.

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Hi Siddhant, the reason why i specifically asked about the usage was this. A lot of us start of with us wanting to buy the jacket for daily commutes and eventually realize that the same jacket will be used for the short trips and then needing an all rounder..hehe..but that's how it works with most actually.Originally posted by Siddhanth Paul View PostI'm from the Delhi-NCR region. The jacket will be mostly for commutes and weekend rides. But, I'll use the jacket for touring too. So, kinda all-rounder.
Anyway, I would recommend you to go for a mesh jacket as that what will help you sail through the summers. Having a mesh jacket with a thermal liner would be a good add-on as you stay in Delhi-NCR and it does get chilly during the winters.
And for the hoodie, I genuinely feel its quite an impractical design for most of the year. Though it could be a second jacket for some but certainly not the 1st jacket the one plans to invest in.
So Venom would do better than the hoodie. But in mesh jacket, you should explore other options too..

Our fellow xbhpian, Chandrakani here gave you some good options and I would second those options.Originally posted by theEntreriCode View PostDeleted this by mistake so reposting,
Thanks for the well wishes Asterix! I have made a deposit and I am waiting for the bike to arrive! So in the meantime I am trying to sort out what I will need.
If I can spring for Revit or Dianese right now, I will definitely do so. I was thinking Tornado 2/3 depending on prices and stock. Would prefer 3 if I can get a decent price. The bike is a naked, so not sure the Sand 3 will work well for it. What do you feel?
For pants I was thinking of doing one of the better Indian options and then upgrading down the road. Incase I can't wing the budget for the Europeans, any recommendations on Indian Jackets and Pants? my current research is pointing towards Solace Fury or Rynox Stealth Evo Jackets. Not sure about Pants yet.
Stealth Evo jacket for textile touring
Storm Evo for Mesh jacket. However if you are not a fan of the external shoulder sliders, I would recommend to go for the Tornado Pro 3.
I had been using the Tornado pro for the longest of time and that jacket is quite a sturdy piece of gear !

I had tried the holeshot too and the fit was just not right for me. The fingers were loose and thumb was tight. But again as I said may be it was just me..
Yes, I felt the suppleness of the leather is lacking in the viaterra gloves.

This elaborate description was the nail in the coffin for me. Ended up buying Rynox Urban X gloves. Did get a chance to try on the Holeshot and IMO wasnt comfy and the quality of the material used doesn't feel upto mark.Originally posted by Astrix View PostHave a look at the Rynox Tornado Pro 3 gloves. The Viaterra gloves are good too but the fit of the Holeshot as compared to the Tornado Pro 3 is a bit loose IMO. The thumb felt tight. But that’s just me.
The Holeshot misses on the finger protections as compared to the Tornado Pro. The finger do not have any hard/semi hard part as protectors.
Now leather is the most important material in gloves as that part is what will provide the abrasion resistance.
Tornado Pro comes with non-perforated leather and thus would have higher abrasion resistance.
The Holeshot on the other hand has perforated leather which is cheaper than a non-perforated leather and provides lesser abrasion resistance, but better ventilation.
Holeshot has a viper at the end. Rynox misses on that.
Both come with Knox SPS so that’s a + for both.
Now the key difference lies here.
- The Rynox ones are CE certified. Now we all talk about having CE certified protectors for shoulder and elbow. Our hands are as important as our limbs right. Shima is another brand that provides CE gloves and you can have a look at those too. Holeshot is not CE certified. Now would you prefer a jacket with CE protector or a one with non-CE protectors
- Rynox provides Impact On Knuckles (South Korean company) again a reputed company. These knuckles solely are also tested by ImpactOn with test results to match CE. Holeshot knuckles, we don’t know their performance.
Holeshot is slightly longer than the Tornado Pro 3. But if you want a slightly longer gloves you may look at a semi gauntlet ones like the Urban-X (Not the Urban). These are semi gauntlet and carry every technical spec mentioned above of the Tornado Pro- CE, SPS, Impact On, etc.
I would also recommend you to also look at Shima as they too have CE gloves.
I hope this helps you invest your money in the right product.
Going to break in these over the coming days/week and get back with my detailed review. Thank you Astrix
