• Re: Riding Gear

I think someone should start a thread called, BIKING GEAR FOR NEWBIES. Which should include all the basic stuffs, periodically updated with photos of the common gear most of us have and the reviews in total.

But the reason I didn't start that is that will be bifurcation of what's happening here. Same questions repeated again and again but it's not their fault, they are and were newbies once like us. But for basic stuffs like comparision

So the best solution would be to add a poll on this thread and to keep it afloat for the time being based on brands, so that people get an idea as to how many people like a product so that shall serve as a "guiding hand" for the newbies confused on which brands and which.
monk, your thoughts on this?

Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

THE END

Rightly said! I feel, it is quite a task to browse through 900+ pages on gears; of course search option does help but one ends up reading everything eventually. One might actually make a buy & comeback here only to realize that it was a mistake. The purpose of this thread is not served & any newbie, for that matter, will directly post their query instead of searchin' for answers in the thread (natural tendency). This results in repetition of every possible aspect of this thread.

Buying an Elbow Guard is not so good idea ........... instead of an elbow guard you should try to buy a Motorcycle riding jacket, as it will offer protection to your elbow+shoulders+spine. But then a motorcycle riding jacket will demand an increase in your estimated budget. For prices/details of various entry level riding jackets, you may read the posts till 7-8 pages back from this page as there has been recent discussion on the same.

I hope my reply was helpful to your need.

Pranav I have a cramster riding jacket I have asked the above for my friend who preferred Leather jackets than a normal riding jacket so he wants elbow guard and knee guard ...

I think you can serve/preach him the points related to protection that I had mentioned even if he wishes to use only a elbow guard over a leather jacket .......... further more there are many leather riding jackets in the market to choose from if he is such a huge fan of leather stuff ............. I hope your friend understands the comfort level provided by a leather jacket in the weather conditions of India.

All you well meaning folks. Start the thread. I will approve it and lock it, so random queries cannot be asked on that. Queries only on this. I will also edit the first post of this thread.

In the new thread, put in all the information you can find, that you think will be useful for newbies. So VJ the onus is on you, since you came up with the idea :P

There are several jackets available in sizes like XXXL and XXXXL ............... you should look into the links again that I had provided ............ you may also drop mails to Cramster, DSG, SPG, Bachoo etc seeking an enquiry for sizes above XXL

Bought my first jacket - Spartan Helios !
Took 45 mins for selecting the right size . Definitely a cool jacket.

Rain gear? Rain gear are nothing but NYLON SUIT OVERS for genuine 100% waterproofing. What review you'd want on NYLON COVERS. Kiddin.

But that aside, nothing specific as such, but the same dog over bone stuff.

A few brands do provide quality stuff in rain wear, check wildcraft, duckback and also REAL. These bends have got very good response from users.
When buying rain gears, don't settle for the cheap ones, they are just as good as no rean gear at all. Get the good one's that cost a bit more, it will make a difference.
