re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Hi, I am no expert, but I am using the Zeus Street Rider Pro, on the protection, it is full leather with decent protection but compared to other gloves, it looks a little inadequate, not tested, not crashed so cannot comment further. On the perforation part, the air flow is again adequate and my hands have not felt sweaty. The gloves are very comfortable and look nice too. I have a dilemma that I may not be able to use them in Monsoon as being full leather and perforated on that so will have to find a solution to that. I picked them up from S. M. Studio in Mulund. Harmesh, the owner is a rider himself and he had obviously high regards for Zeus gears.Originally posted by globe2ride View Post

Thanks for your reply parimal. As I mentioned, I am not looking for a all purpose glove here, so if the ventilation is descent, its a given that it wont be waterproof, and I would generally not use a leather glove(or any leather stuff for that matter), out in the open in pouring rains.Originally posted by Parimal Maheshwari View PostHi, I am no expert, but I am using the Zeus Street Rider Pro, on the protection, it is full leather with decent protection but compared to other gloves, it looks a little inadequate, not tested, not crashed so cannot comment further. But you did mentione, the protection looks a bit inadequate. Can you specify as to exactly what you found inadequate in this glove with regards to protection?
Cheers!

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
May I suggest you to check out rynox kombat (semi-gauntlet)? Its a bit over your budget (2700INR), but, the main features you are looking for, i.e, palm protection is built in. Quality is good and has good ventilation. Although compared to dsg and spartan gloves, it needs more break-in time.Originally posted by globe2ride View PostAs in impulse buyer, I had my first pair of riding gloves as the pro bikers. It was the cheapest and quickest buy of my motorcycle gear. Over 6 months, the gloves have started losing a stitch or two here and there. To date, I don't know what exactly were these gloves good for, but I really dont know what they were bad for either, since I have never had the experience of a fall wearing them(touch wood). But as my riding style has matured, and so has my sense of getting proper gear, I am all set to buy a pair of 'proper' riding gloves.
And so the dilemma starts.....
I have read through this thread extensively, and found out various options available for various purposes and price points. Also I have gained the most valuable knowledge, that there isn't really any such thing as an 'All purpose' glove out there. So I have narrowed down my search to the following:
I am looking for a short cuffed, well ventilated glove offering descent protection(especially since summer is upon us, and i tend to sweat a few gallons more than an average person).
Budget, unfortunately is a concern for me, so stuff like A* is well beyond consideration, and im more inclined towards gloves ranging from 2 - 2.5k.
Upon some searching, following appealed to me:
1. Spartan Phaeton. 2100/-
These are my first choice, since it has what Im exactly looking for, good ventilation, descent protection with leather palm.
Concern here is the lack of extra protection on the lower palm area, and knuckles. which i have seen is much better cushioned, in other gloves.
2. Spartan pegasus 2600/-
A tad over my original budget, but i can fit it in if its really worth it. Being a complete leather, i believe it would offer better protection than the phaeton. Knuckle protectors also seem to be in place.
Concern here is that this glove seems all set to cook my hand in mumbai summers.
3. Zeus Street Rider 1900/-
These seem to be at par with the phaeton, and have better knuckle protection too. Palm protection is still a bit thin, or Im not sure if im just being paranoid about that.
Concern here, is that I have not heard/read any reviews about these, and the trust factor isnt established, which seems to be up there with spartan, since I am using the Spartan Helios jacket for a while now, and found it to be well satisfactory.
4. Zeus Street Rider Pro 2300/-
As the name suggest, its just an upgrade of the former, but all round seems quite fitting to all my requirements. They claim that the perforated leather will allow smooth air flow and ventilation, but i have my doubts. If thats really the case, and if someone can vouch for this brand, I believe this is going to me my next glove, unless i hear really bad reviews.
So experts.. please help me out here!
Thanks for reading through, awaiting a few responses.
Cheers!

DSG nitro and revive are also options you can consider. They have good quality leather construction and the knuckle protectors. Also, revive offers protection to the wrist area too.

Rynox Kombat are semi gauntlet, hence clearly not my first choice for a summer glove. I believe short cuff would be perfect for the summers. But still, i would like to try them on before completely dismissing them, if you say the ventilation is good. Can you suggest some place where I can try the Rynox Kombat?Originally posted by AmitRavi07 View PostMay I suggest you to check out rynox kombat (semi-gauntlet)? I have tried the DSG nitro and revive in A2Z motorcycle store, and personally didnt like the feel and fit on my hands. The stitching on the fingers was itching agains the minor webbing between fingers( dont know if its just a break in issue since i tried different sizes too).
Thanks for the feedback

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
When I say protection looks inadequate I didn't mean they are inadequate just that it does not have the look of the other gloves, the knuckle protectors look like a plastic thing inserted in leather, again on the fingers it is more like extra cushioned leather rather than a hard plastic etc. The palm part have cushions in leather with additional cushion on the wrist part. I would recommend to have a look at them to understand what I am trying to say. I personally liked the full leather look and felt it will protect my hand in case of a fall and I like the comfort and feel of the leather used in these gloves.Originally posted by globe2ride View PostThanks for your reply parimal. re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Sorry mate, I don't know any shops in Pune, but, I think shops selling rynox gears have been mentioned in this thread. You can try searching them, or take a look at their website to know more about the dealers in your city. On a side note have you checked out spg centaur? Even though they are semi-gauntlet, they are most comfortable gloves I have worn. If interested, a good review has been posted by snehith.Originally posted by globe2ride View PostRynox Kombat are semi gauntlet, hence clearly not my first choice for a summer glove. re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
I took a ride down to s.m.studio today to check out the gloves discussed.. As parimal rightly pointed out.. The protection on knuckles did seem fairly inadequate.. And that was the dealbreaker for me..Originally posted by Parimal Maheshwari View PostWhen I say protection looks inadequate I didn't mean they are inadequate just that it does not have the look of the other gloves, the knuckle protectors look like a plastic thing inserted in leather, again on the fingers it is more like extra cushioned leather rather than a hard plastic etc. The palm part have cushions in leather with additional cushion on the wrist part. I also tried the humbler version, the street rider, and found it to be comfortable and better than the pro version..
Will take a look at thr spartan phaeton now, and will decide between the two.
Thanks for all your help guys. Appreciate it

Good for you, I had liked the Street Rider version too but he did not have my size that day, also I liked the Street Rider Pro better as it suits the cruiser style Thunderbird more and I felt the protection was enough though could have been better.Originally posted by globe2ride View PostI took a ride down to s.m.studio today to check out the gloves discussed.. I hear Zeus jackets come with a special heating system inside apart from the thermal liners.. You might wanna check that out as well.Originally posted by UrbanNomad View PostIm looking for a touring jacket. Primarily for touring Leh later this year. Options that i liked:

I think it's a feature that can come in handy in that place.
I have never seen a detailed review about the same though.. So not sure how efficiently it will work..
Just a suggestion to add to your list of options.
Do let us know what you pick in the end.
Cheers!

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
You can also try DSG Triton. Its very good at keeping you warm in cold environments and prevents rain water from getting inside the jacket even in heavy rains.Originally posted by UrbanNomad View PostIm looking for a touring jacket. Primarily for touring Leh later this year. Options that i liked:
