  • Re: Honest Revoews about TBG Full Length Boots and Tarmac Full length boots

When you ask a question, also be prepared to hear a POV.
What I have provided is what I have heard and felt first hand through the years. To take it or not is entirely upto you. Kindly refrain from stopping someone from giving his/her POV.

When you say new, most of the products have been there for almost an year now.
Not like they have started off yesterday, just like someone thinks the boots were released 3 days back.

It is the lack of marketing that is pulling back TBG imo. No adverts. No websites.

I am not here to promote any brand, neither will I demote them. My views are what I have seen, felt and heard about the various brands in the country!
Your high handed instructions are not going to change those.

What on earth do you even mean by "it is too early to say that it is having this & that techniques/technologies" is beyond me anyways ! The gloves 'have' Knox SPS and you will slide and not get stuck on the tarmac in a lowside, doesn't matter whether it is tonight or a decade later !

I suggest TRG2, had used it extensively for my Leh trip. Sunny or Rainy, it served the purpose well during the trip as well as for later 2yrs of touring.

          Details:
Price - Rs. 7950/- When I bought it
Merchant - Let's Gear Up, HSR Layout, Bangalore

          Features:
CE level I armour on the elbows and shoulders, CE level II at the back.
          Raincoat hidden in the back.
          Removable thermal liner.
Slit for earphones on the chest.
Adjustable straps for arms, and waist.
2 Small pockets up front, one large one where the rain liner resides.
A hook on the inside to tie/hang stuff.

          Appearance:
Fairly body contoured, especially if you're kinda skinny/average - so, would aid to one's aerodynamics a little bit.
Black, three coloured swatches (like the orange one I've put) on the chest to go matchy matchy with your ride.
Reflective lines up front and on the back for visibility at night.
          Reflective patch on the shoulders.

          Experience:

          <+>
Feels snug and fairly comfortable while wearing, as with biking jackets, might feel restrictive in the beginning, but gets quite good pretty soon.
No billowing or buffeting while riding at high speeds since it is body contoured.
The back armour feels quite strong and durable, while being soft.
          CE II is reassuring.
TBG make track gear for racing, so I presumed that the quality and gear pedigree should be good.

          <->
Slightly less breathable, so can get a bit toasty on a hot day in stationary traffic, but, I personally prefer cordura owing to the added abrasion resistance it provides as opposed to mesh.
Not sure how much the heating compares to competition.
Stays fairly cool once you start moving above 40kmph.
The pits region got ripped after two months of riding, presumably while I raised my arm. However Let's Gear Up at HSR layout, where I bought it from instantly replaced it, no questions asked. (well she did ask one question: 'Did you get in a crash?'; which I hadn't, Then replaced it instantly.) I'm really impressed with their excellent customer service, and I feel this really matters when making a purchase of an expensive article.

**Maybe err on buying one size larger, to minimize stress on the torso-sleeve junction of the jacket.

          Bottomline:
Personally ended up buying this after checking out the armour. I had the option of trying Spartan Helios, Spartan Icarus, TBG Advbreed, and one by Cramster which were all good, and mostly slightly cheaper than this one. The Cramster one had leather on the top which I did like, but the armour on TBG was much better.
          I'm glad I chose this.
          Highly recommended!

I got one from the first lot. Saved a few hundred bucks and had got it for 7250/-

            My 2 cents:

Been serving flawlessly and has taken me through the traffic in the summer quite well. Sweating has reduced considerably from my old workhorse that is the Nero.
The SPG mesh jacket is cooler at standstill, thanks to the larger mesh holes. But, with speed, the smaller mesh holes in the ADVBREED shines. Smaller holes means no dust inside and also air is passed under higher pressure leading to a better cooling effect. The mesh you see is the same one that A* uses in their basic jackets. The weight of the jacket is impressively light too but I am not very confident about the thickness of the cordura that has been used. But then again, I trust the testings they carry out.

Also, could you take out the elbow and shoulder sas techs and confirm if they are level 1 ? I remember the marking to be level 2 on those as well, when I had taken them out to clean them up. Sizing is one down. I needed a 2XL and that fit me snug and nice. A little suffocating at first but as you said, got more comfortable with use. The fit helps big time in high speeds in cutting through the wind. As you say, the back protectors are just great. I even use it as a backrest on my office chair The extra support gives a comfortable feeling.

The jacket is easy to clean off with water sprays. There is a slot for headphones, as you mentioned, but there is no inside pocket. There is a hook for keys/gloves. A transperant little pocket is present next to the chain. This can have your emergency details, in case something goes wrong.

They also added a jacket to pant zipper. A YKK Vislon 8VS. I think that would go with their leathers. Also, the zipper ltype and length is quite standard. I fit my pants from another reputed brand straight on as the zipper type and size are an exact match. This will help in case of a fall and the jacket won't be pulled up in a slide. Same can be done between the SPG jackets and pants and well.

The chains could be a bit less dodgy as the tab, sometimes, gets stuck at awkward angles. Not sure if they have improved that on the newer ones. A tab to pull them would help too, for the gloved hands. The armor moves around quite a bit and I have to put them in place and tighten the straps almost every couple of days.

The rain liner works wonders. Easy off and easy on the road. As the drops start to pelt. Keeps you dry in the most vigorous of rains. Though the short length could mean that water seeps in through the waist. You could just stop and wear the thing in a minute. I can also have a small bag along with the jacket under the liner. Its super light weight and dries in minutes. Easy to keep it away in the pocket at any time, any how. I have also used the liner while I was on a trip without my ride. Very convinient and looks decent. Few of my family members wants one for them now for everyday use !!! LGU says they will get them in the next lot.

Till now I've not bought a riding jacket yet, As such fun rides on my Conti rides are mostly just 120kms odd total-both ways. though I'm not a speed demon but cruise around 80kmph and go to 110 for short bursts! I've been using my heavy Denim-jacket for riding till now. I'm planning a ride to Jaipur shortly and this is the right time to get a jacket which will be my best friend for a long time.

Basically I don't know anything about jackets as such. Do armours come along with jackets or we need to get them separately? Can I get all the Armour and use it with my Denim jacket?

What is a range for a decent jacket my range is 5-6k odd. Can you suggest a good store in Bombay where I can go & try out different jackets.

I've only seen Royal Enfield jackets at their store, How do they compare against some of your recommendations? I really liked their Conti-Jacket & their leather one.

I'm also looking for Boots so a little help there too.

Wrong logic that you have followed till now about the distance/speed/jacket thing but hopefully, luck has been on your side ! Good to know you are planning on getting one.
Forget 80-110, 40 on the speedo is enough speed to get bones broken and lose considerable amount of skin. Denim has next to no abrasion resistance so wearing them is as good as wear anything else with sleeves.

Shoulder & Elbow Armors come with every decent jacket. A few come with back ones as well. If not, they come with pockets for the armors.
Your geographical location screams mesh ! Your budget allows you to look at the SPG Icarus, the DSG Evo and the Rynox Air GT (called that I guess ?). Mumbai has many stores. Moto101 for SPG. PlanetDSG for DSG. And numerous others.

RE jackets are over priced because of the branding. Are you sure you can wear leather ones in Jaipur ? Probably be cooked in a salty broth.

Boots will set you back by, at least, another 5-6K. Look at the tarmac torques from bachoo motors. Slightly better protection can be got for around 8-9k from SPG Zeus or the Joe Rocket Ballistic from Performanceracing, mumbai.

                Ride Safe.

You can safely stay away from RE jackets for the price they are offered at, based on reviews and first-hand user experiences. There is a plethora of options in Mumbai - right from moto101 to high end PRS. Riding jackets come with protections (armors). Alternately, you can also buy armors separately and install them on your denim, but the effort and time taken is more, there maybe a justification to the price depending on how good a deal you got your denim jacket for. In any case, with so much of offerings from the Indian brands in the current market, it only makes more sense to choose from one of'em.

SPG Helios, Icarus, Rynox Tornado, Cramster Breezer can help in the Jaipur heat.

You can blindly go ahead and buy Orazo boots; damn boots can undergo stress & strain.

ps- good that you're buying gears, finally!

Does all spartan jackets have same sizing? I had finalized Helios, but due to size issue, cannot buy it. So, now i have finalised Zeus all-terrain, Zeus Arion and Cramster K2K and breezer. Wanted to know which would be a better all season jacket.
Also, how are those air vents jackets compared to mesh in summers? And, can i upgrade the armours of my jacket?

No..all spartan jacket does not have same size. Air vent jackets are only useful while riding, but when you are struck in traffic, you're gonna sweat like pig. Yes you can upgrade your armour.
