Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Thanks. Yeah. DSG Nero has got very good reviews and Sprint is also good (almost bought it). But, Andaman is Hot & Humid and has a very bad reputation of unpredictable heavy downpour around the year.Originally posted by amalbhagat View Posthi shakti
dude never heard any positive or negative for XDi X1 so i can't say about it. DSG Nero is one of the good choice but i never used it just heard from my friends
it s pricing is 6500. i don't have idea about the solace defender as it is a waterproof as per the solace. i m using solace sprint orange right now. at 5600 quality is
awesome yes it can be waterproof if you wear thermal liner which is waterproof. but if you remove the thermal liner then it wont be waterproof as i am using it
in bangalore rain but here rain is not that heavy. i m using it with thermal waterproof liner in rain & in summer i m using it without liner.
about protection then it is ce approved. & quality material is used, all over. i am using it since last year september i guess but until now no issues. even i got
small accident as well when i was riding with solace sprint but not a single scratch on my body as my bike got several one
i hope it would help you out for selection as other brands are also there in market with good mesh jackets but pricing is too high & solace providing same
quality with lesser pricing.
good luck
Is there any other jacket i should look at ?Last edited by Shaktiv3; 07-20-2015, 01:52 PM.Well-trained reflexes are quicker than luck.

The Quest To Stay Safe , Alive and Kick Starting
Hello fellow xbhpians
I'm fairly new to the world of biking and obviously to riding gears . I'm going to get a bike soon , by a month or maybe two and have decided ( or still , way confused ) on some brands for the riding gear I want to aquire soon after getting the bike . I would appreciate the feedback , opinions , reviews and personal experiences with any or all of the gear listed here .
Riding Gear I'm planning to get :
Helmet : SOL SF-1 Cobra or SOL SF 68S Wizard ... I'm pretty dead set on getting either of these , the LEDs seem like a quite useful feature for night riding .

Gloves : #1 TBG Sport

I would love to hear what people have to say on these gears and will greatly appreciate any alternatives suggested . Life is precious and I want to enjoy my life to the fullest , drive and ride till I get old .
Thanks and Reagards in advance .

Hi Guys,
Well, I'm new to the forum, but have been following xBhp magazines for quite a while.
I'd like to get your opinions for a pair of good Riding Pants for Touring.
I was wondering if the Spartan Pro Gear Proteus or Spartan Pro Gear Odysseus are good.
Thanks Guys.

Both the stores which I mentioned above, you can try jackets there not sure about pants. Only moto 101 is the place you can try pants too....but its a spg outlet in Bandra.Originally posted by amity View PostThanks a lot Kety213...Do you know any shop in Mumbai I can try out riding Jackets and pants??

I bought my Rynox Tornado Pro from AH Helmets recently. Its a big shop has quite a lot of options. He also keeps Aspida/SPG products.Originally posted by kety213 View PostThere is A H helmets in andheri west near lotus petrol pump and one on goregoan link road next to RE showroom that too is helmet shop.

There is one more s9 helmets diagonally opposite the new carnival cinemas in Oshiwara, who has Solace products no idea about which other brands. And also Bandra has outdoor travel gear somewhere near carter road. They keep a lot of different brands.

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
I would recommend you to go to AH Helmets (Oshiwara) as they would have stock of multiple brands- both pants and jackets or Outdoor Travel Gear (Bandra) which is again a multi-brand outlet than Moto101 which only stocks only SPG product (jackets and pants) in the price range of 5k to 9k, so you would miss out on other options. In any case you will get to see SPG product at AH Helmets along with other brands like Mototech, Rynox, LS2 etc.Originally posted by amity View PostThanks a lot Kety213...Do you know any shop in Mumbai I can try out riding Jackets and pants??

Re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
I am currently using cramster trg2.Originally posted by joelgreen View PostSome more suggestions guys? I really need your help on this!
The fit is perfect, quite comfortable. I have worn these gloves for touring too and they perform great. The response is nice. Overall build quality is amazing.
If you really are interested in full guntlet these are the best you get in 3k price range.
3 months back they were available for 2.6k now its 2.9k.
But still worth the price.

The ventilation is good.
Since they are leather you cant use them in rains.

Ride Safe
1. While buying riding gear avoid buying online until and unless you are sure of which size to buy. Always prefer to buy from a store.
Coz if it doesn't fits properly you won't enjoy riding in them.
2.(this is for your post in another thread)
There is no level 3 protection. And level 1 and level 2 are only for spine protection. For elbow, knee, shoulder etc its EN-1621-1.
3. You don't buy an armour vest and a jacket, choose one. Vest are usually used for motocross. For city riding and touring go with a jacket.
4. Most of the jackets around the world come with foam protectors for back you need to upgrade them.
5. Your jacket does contains elbow and shoulder protectors, no need of elbow pads.
6. Dont buy full guntlet to start with.
Buy scoyco or other cheap gloves at first, and check your riding pattern. Full guntlet should be avoided for city riding.
7. Dont rush to buy riding boots, you can use any ankle length boots for it as of now. Let some time pass and then buy.
If you really are interested in buying riding gears then you may buy the following
Helmet - buy any just make sure it's a good fit(yes, does comes in sizes)
Jacket- dsg genesis is fine, there are other good jackets too but try n buy.
Gloves- buy any under 1k and use them atleast for 2-3 months before you decide which to buy for long-term
Knee pad - buy cramster bionic knee protectors - Rs 1950
Shoes - not needed as of now.
Hope this helped you. Enjoy and do let me know which bike you buy.
Cheerio!
Ride hard, ride safe!

Re: The Quest To Stay Safe , Alive and Kick Starting
1. I will be visiting some stores to personally check out and try on some gears to get a good idea on sizing , same for helmets . I would prefer buying from a shop as it will be quicker and I may save on shipping . If buying online , then one must get good measurements before ordering . I always keep that in mind ( I have OCD :-p )Originally posted by gkkarnik View Post1. While buying riding gear avoid buying online until and unless you are sure of which size to buy. 2. I never knew about this . Thanks a ton for the information , really appreciate it amigo
3,4&5. I will get a Jacket and a track protection vest like the one Alpinestars has ( but something economical , for now ) . I will skip armor as the movement restriction is not something anyone should ride/drive with . Cramster has a nice back/spine protector with level 2 protection for like 3k bucks , sad it has no chest protection as I dont wanna wear 2 separate protectors each for chest and spine .
6. I want full gauntlet for maximum protection for my preciocus hands ( I'm a musician by trade ) . Also I prefer keeping the weather/bugs from getting into my sleeves . Besides full protection provide wrist protection , something I really want in riding gloves .
7. Ahhh the boots .... they are all quite pricey and the ankle length I dont wanna go for . I dont want to twist an ankle and want to keep the weather/bugs out here as well . I would love to keep myself in an enclosed and protected shell hahaha .... OCD again
Boots are something I guess I would have to wait and save for a while since after blowing funds on a bike wont leave much to get all the gear I want . My top priority goes to Helmet , Jacket and Gloves + Knee Guard .
I would stick to my all time favorite Converse for now , with occasional use of Woodlands ( I hate those as the soles don't give any feedback while riding or driving , and they are big and clumsy )
As for the bike .... I'm going for the KTM RC 390 , most likely ( gotta convince parents too ::facepalm:: )
Ride safe amigo
