Please suggest me a store (ideally one for both items) in Mumbai where I can try it out before buying. While at it, kindly also suggest jacket options in that price range.

I tried a search on this thread and there is literally an avalanche of options, which is very confusing. How do I go about selecting or shortlisting from a range of riding jackets. One way to do it is buy offline I guess. I'll use the jacket for highway riding only, may be once a month.
You may check out Outdoor Travel Gear for Multiple brands in jacket- Cramster/ Rynox/ DSG/ Mototech (Starting from 4K till i guess 8-9K). In Knee guards they have 2-3 brand (Knox/ Mototech/ Cramster) again and all reputed brands- Indian/ International.
You won't get discounts but their service is the best as compared to anyone and people are very genuine to mention things right during the purchase- Like they have a board that mentioned Cramster and DSG products will not carry any warranty and will also inform you about it before your purchase.

They have two locations- Bandra and Thane. AH Helmet is another option.

Avoid Moto101 nothing bad in specific expect that the fellow misguides by talking ill about the brands that he does not keep.

    Hope this helps.

Saw this jacket named Tarmac Expedition in Orionmotors Facebook page.
When enquired them they said they will be stocking on Monday or Tuesday.

It has all features including spine protectors & hydration pack for ₹9999

Anyone tried this. ?? Looking for suggestions.

        Hey guys,

I am pure commuter, Bajaj CT100B. I never do any touring. I am in sales and I meet customers all the time, with 6-10kg of products/stuff in my bag all the time. It seems highly impractical to wear leg and knee guards and then remove them in front of customers house and do this 10 times a day. I ride for 30 km a day in Hyderabad. I have STUDDS Chrome helmet and now I think a pair of gloves will be good and they offer no trouble to my work. For Hyderabad's hot weather I need something with good amount of ventilation. I see everyone recommends gloves in the range of 3-7k here. That is way beyond my budget. I checked out these, need your input:
        1. Pro-Biker gloves from Flipkart. Have tried them offline, they got good ventilation.
        2. Vega Gloves from their website.
        3. Solace Passion here.
        4. DSG Moto Mesh here.

Another problem is of size measurement while buying online. I did not check at the size of Pro-Biker gloves while trying offline because at that time I did not have any idea, I thought they come in one size like the STUDDS Helmet I got (L size for all). I tried measurement according to what is given on Flipkart link I provided above, measurement is 9-9.5 inches. So I guess L size will fit. What do you say ?

Solace passion gloves are the best here, there is a review on the forum, check it out, measure according to the size chart available on their website and buy accordingly.

Check out Moto101 in khar for spartan jackets. The knee guards are around 2.5k and you'll get jackets from 4k onwards.

For other brands check out AH helmets in Andheri / Oshiwara. He gives some discount on a few brands to xBhp users.
I'm ready to go to any place needed in Mumbai man. Just need the stuff to be in my budget.
So Moto101 or AH Helmets then.

            It does help. Thank you.

So from from your's and santosh.k's post, the common name that stands is AH Helmets. I checked their website and it doesn't show too many items. Can I rely upon them to a good range of jacket and knee guard options in my budget?

Am coming from outside Mumbai, so am game to visit any store. But IIRC, Bandra, Andheri, Thane and Khar are all very distant from each other; barring the first two of course.

Go to Bandra, as Outdoor Travel Gear and AH helmet both have their branches in Bandra.
              Outdoor Travel Gear's website- www.outdoortravelgear.com
AH Helmet is more like a local shop that is why may be does not have an updated website.

Just call the shop before hand and you'll have a better idea about the availability of products and sizes. Most of them don't manage to update their website or FB pages.

                  Hello friend,

yes thats true i am using solace sprint jacket. yes of course there are so many brands in India now which offers
a quality gears. but nowadays the main aspect is "After Sale Service" you can buy from any brand but need to know
about this main aspect as well. as we all know that DSG/Cramster doesnt give any warranty etc. the after sale service
of Zeus is just a pathetic & that's not the statement from the customer. it is from their own dealers. Spartan well known brand
& due to the name bikers purchasing the stuff but again the after sale service is a question mark as many of our Xbhp fellow bikers
wrote about it in this forum itself.

I never heard any negative for Rynox about their after sale service. & for Solace as well i never heard. in fact solace providing
the after sale service for other brands as well who are not providing but it is a paid service.

if you compare all are these brands using same material & techniques but when you see the price tag the Solace having it quite
                  competitive as compare to others.

i am not a loyal customer for any brand neither Solace nor Rynox but whichever is good for biking people it is good
then whoever is offering it doesnt matter.

Since the Jacket is Mesh the breathability of Tornado Pro is way higher as compared to the 4 Air vent ventilation.

Tornado Pro- 100% Breathable due to Mesh construction. Defender- 600D Cordura Polyester all around so no breathability except for those 4 small Air vents
Yes Defender will be water-proof, until its Reissa coating comes off as it is not removable layer and attached lamination (Just like in Old school Cramster Jackets).

The Chassis of the Tornado Pro is made up off 600D Cordura Shell (All Jackets in India are made up off 600D Cordura Shell, but none use Du Pont as its a very expensive material), however at impact zone it has special Du Pont Cordura. Du Pont is an American company which makes Cordura. It is the only India company that is using Du Pont Cordura in their Jackets.

Also another additional feature in the Tornado Pro is that you can use the the liner Thermal and Rain as a separate jacket. I guess beside the Tornado Pro jacket Royal Enfield new jacket (Darcha by Revit) sold for 24k is the only one in which the Thermal liner can be used as a separate jacket.

PS: Darcha also comes with Knox Flexiform armors.

                    ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Yes I totally agree with you bro, that Mesh will not be waterproof so in heavy rain you will wear the Reissa liner. Water will penetrate through the mesh and will be obstructed by the Reissa liner, repelled and fall off !
But Rains will be there for certain time, for which the removable liner will just do its job well, think about those hot (sticky times-Since I am from Mumbai) Mesh will any day come handy. The Reissa liner is Tornado Pro and Air GT (which I am using) both are taped- heat taped.

Cramster K2k jacket also has a same type of arrangement having Reissa laminated/stitched on the inner side, but this later comes off. (Also note that the thickness of any material(Reissa here) used to stitch/laminate is very thin, as thick material cannot be laminated. While if you plan to use the material to make a separate jacket it has to be very thick as compared to the laminate film.

Another example, even other textile jackets by reputed brands like RE Darcha by Revit/ Revit Jackets/Alpinestars/ Cortech jacket will not come with a laminate but a removable liner as laminates are old ways of water-proofing, which may or may not last.

Both are good jackets, good protection, good water-proofing. However I prefer a Mesh jacket due to the climate in Mumbai. If you are into textile jacket you can also check the Spartan Achillies (Knox Armors and has removable Rain Liner and not laminated)
                    dude,

i am just using defender so i was helping our fellow biker to understand. now its depends on person to person for which conditions
he/she wants to use the jacket. for heavy rain/cold conditions tornado will not work better way due to mesh. in these conditions
defender will be more better. but if anyone wants to use it on a daily office use or college use then tornado will be better one.
since i am using defender so i have better idea about what it is exactly.

as we will not get all the features in only one jacket. so as per need one has to check. thats it.

                    cheers buddy.........................

Hello, agreed on your after sales service point, but my point is if product itself is good then dependency on after sales minimises. For example- i am using DSG Evo jacket for last one year it's an OK jacket not great but does it's job for daily use & also using Cramster blaster gloves it's a good leather glove for city & short tours, both of these as you said doesn't come with warranty but both of these are serving me well for one year and still in good shape. And another thing that like I reside at Raipur and nearest outlet to get anything repaired is around 800-1000kms and it's not feasible every time, so my point is product should have best built quality so that dependency on after sales service is minimal.

P.S. - Fellow members can correct me if I am wrong.
