I have planned to visit Sikkim during October with my RC390. Being a first time tourer on a budget, I require several gears for the ride. I use MT Axxis Evo Helmet. Got a pair of Probiker gloves worth Rs. 200 which are holding up well inspite of being 5 years old. Given the terrain and the weather, please suggest the cheap and best option for the following:

Saddle Bag - ViaTerra Claw Mini - Will this, along with a backpack, be enough for holding everything I need during the trip?

Jacket - I sweat a lot. I require decent amount of protection along with rain and thermal liner. Looking at Scimitar Solus and Aspida Atlas. Need to definitely try out the size before ordering.

Pants - No idea about this

      Shoes - Army Boots

Tyres - Stock Metzelers can handle the mud and slush? Any alternatives?

      Gloves - Need Suggestions

      Thanks in advance!
Are you plannig for Tawang? If yes, then I wouldn't suggest you to go to such unforgiving terrain on Metzelers. And for boots, army boots are the next option if not riding boots.

Guys, I had zeroed on TBG Knight Jacket and Sports Gloves as both of them have best in class protection, but both are out of stock from long and are not coming back in stock anytime soon. I need jacket and gloves by Saturday anyhow, as on Sunday I have to attend Track Day.

Now, I'm considering Rynox Tornado Pro and Rynox Apex Evo gloves, but the level of protection doesn't look as good as that of TBG.

What other options I should consider which would provide me same level of protection as the TBG? Please provide your input.

I have both the above mentioned tbg products and i have also used Rynox products. You can with assurance buy Rynox products as they are equally good. Btw sastech level 2 back protector is available online separately as well. Go ahead with the Rynox products and you may upgrade to level 2 armour later. Cheers
          Cheerio!

Check out the Solace Defender plus which has the CE level 2 SAS TEC protection which is same as in TBG Knight. They have a company store at Banashankri.

Good to hear from you as you have used both the brands. If I get Rynox then I will definitely upgrade to Level 2 armours.

Great, I didn't know this. Will check try Solace and Rynox before making my decision.

I am using Solace Sprint which is level 1 but is very good and comfortable for me.

Solace Defender Plus is your best bet. Purchase additional Sas tec back protector from Solace itself.

Rynox Tornado Pro needs a lot of rework to fit level 2 armours, plus they slip from there place a lot. If you have not already tried that. The sas tec armour is thicker and larger in size usually, although it can be cut without any performance issues. The thickness makes it rather difficult to fit in Rynox T-pro.

                      @MidnightEvil Parth thanks bro.

BTW how about the Aspida Jackets? The Aspida Hyperion has got KNOX armors for the shoulder, elbow and back. But has leather upper torso and sleeves. Would it make a bad choice for our summers?
The Aspida Helios also has KNOX for shoulder and elbow and back can be upgraded to the same.

I don't like the way Defender Plus looks. It has got good features but there is too much use of the red color.

Protection wise how much of a difference is there in KNOX and Sastec armors ? And which one is comfortable for longer rides?

                      ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Just while browsing, got to know that the Defender Plus doesn't have mesh anywhere. So, how is the ventilation?

Aspida jackets are good. The newer models like Aspida Nemesis 2 also have sas tec protection and are mesh built.
The ventilation in Defender plus is good, you can search this here, although it is a textile jacket. Remember its better to sweat than bleed. Textile is far more abrasion resistant compared to mesh jackets, although runs a bit hotter, but hey not as hot as leather, infact even cooler than perforated leather imo.
About the difference between knox and sas tec, read these.
                        1. Sas tec is level 2 armour, the difference of impact transfer between level 2 and level 1 armours is huge. Sas tec is far better in this segment.
                        2. Sas tec armour is malleable and fits according to the body shape of the user, while knox is harder. This also means sas tec is much more comfortable to wear and movement is not at all restricted.
                        3. Sas tec armour is reusable after impact and does not shatter on impact, expect an average life of 10 years for a sas tec armour.
For me the comfort and protection factor single-handedly make me go for sas tec. I am not saying Knox is bad. Knox is great. But sas tec is a lot better, infact a big margin of difference. Ask this to anyone who has ridden in both sas tec and Knox. Cheers ! Hope I helped.

Hi guys, tried the rynox apex gloves, good fit. the Knox sliders and pinky finger protection with support makes it an interesting proposition compared to spartan ares. So which one should I go for?
May the sun rise infront of me,
the rain fall behind me and the wind follow me.

Wow, thanks for clearing up my confusion bro, I really appreciate your help. BTW, I had a chat yesterday with Letsgearup and they said size M is available for the TBG Knight Jacket from the old consignment. Even after knowing that size M wouldn't fit me, I went to check the jacket today. And, on reaching I got to know that the stock is over. They were kind enough to send me a message on Facebook minutes before I reached there. But, the good news is that the new consignment is arriving tomorrow. So, I will be there tomorrow again to pick the jacket

The TBG Sports Gloves are not coming in stock anytime soon and I was told today that the Rynox Apex Evo is also getting an upgrade and they don't have stock in sizes smaller than XL. So, I'm not sure if I should pick up something which is due for an upgrade. The Solace Race Pro gloves on the other hand has better protection, but I'm not sure about the reliability and comfort, anyone using it please provide your inputs.

Also, provide some suggestions on Knee Guards, or shall I save a little and get a riding pant later? Sorry, but I haven't done any homework on Knee Guards as of now and I am going to do that now.

Thanks everyone for helping me out.

Its always great to help a fellow rider.
Now coming on to Solace. They make good quality products, never heard of anyone having issues with their products. Ps They are known for the aftersales and service part, they also repair gears of other brands at a minimal charge.
Coming on to Knee guards part. If you are into touring, I would recommend you go for riding pants. They are good since the armour stays in place and they are made from abrasion resistant fabric. About the knee guards, you can go ahead and purchase ones from Aspida, Cramster or Solace. All are good, although you miss the hip protection on them.
