  • hi I am new to buying riding gear.
i live in delhi, i went to karol bagh in search of some protective gear.
There i met a guy who sold joe rocket jacket for 3k and a set of elbow and knee guards for 850... so i doubt its authentic... or is it through wrong channels in the market...
The jackets weigh a lot a kg or a lil less maybe...
Even the cramster summer jacket was very very hot.
so i didn't but anything and came back...
are all jackets this hot or are there some cooler options available, what about the weight. the shopkeeper also said that mesh jackets are cooler but tear off easily. and protective knee/elbow guard is the best option. I don't ride at very high speeds, just normal touring speeds and long distance in hot sun so I am confused as what to buy..
Kingdom FAR FAR away is where I wanna be...
But I can't find a road headed that way.

    • It depends on your preference&budget. Most of the people get a good jacket with armor inside&wear knee guard below/outside their pants. People tend to avoid the meshed ones since they do not offer any protection in rain. I have a Cramster mesh jacket&a separate raincoat to be worn above it.
I feel pretty comfortable wearing elbow&knee guards for short distances less than couple of hours say, but then after that they start taking a toll on my skin-they cause marks.
So, I use them only for short rides&wear jacket&riding pants for longer rides.
Again, this is purely a matter of personal choice&preference.
No riding gear will feel comfortable at first, you need to get used to it, it takes some time. See what you feel most comfortable in.

P.S. Which brand protectors was that guy offering you for Rs.850? Was it for only knee or elbow&knee together?

Joe Rocket not possible at that price. Check out the real thing here:
          www.performanceracingstore.net

ProBiker is a store in Pune where you get good stuff for low prices. The jackets, armor etc.are not CE approved, but are good for daily use. I think Pune guys wil be to provide more info on this.
My take is go for branded stuff for touring, for city use anything is fine!

Any such tried and tested store in Bangalore...
I know a walk down JC road and you run into plenty, but is there a place which is known for decent quality and reasonable pricing?

                Thanks,

I mean not comfortable. Tried the Breezer 2.0.. Fantastic jacket but a bit problematic in monsoon. I am 100% sure am going for Breezer 2.0 or Falcon by coming weekend.

Great! Now I can sell my Spike at a higher price knowing I dont have to give it to friends.

Will put it up on the classifieds tonight.

                  Thanks!

                    • ^^its too bulky for my tiny frame. i bought a medium size. Wanna go for the Falcon. Its cheaper and better in style. Although i do love the Spike's design as well. goes great with my helmet. heehee. in any case i have used it just twice. and my bro has used it once on his ride to pune and back. would love to keep the jacket for him as hes larger than me and get the falcon separately. But my mom would throw me out if I had 2 jackets in the house. lol. She's already gien me an earful for spending so much on riding gear. what to do. work life is not giving me enough time to ride ya.. anyways. hopefully someone will buy it from me.
