Using any protective gear even after a single fall is as good as wearing no gear.

While the product may look undamaged it's not wise and safe to use it after a fall. A fall can upset the structural integrity of the protector making it lose its capabilities to protect the rider in a crash... but might look fine to the naked eye.

And this does not apply to helmets alone. Dont take a risk. Had a fall? Get a new set of gear which has taken a good amount of impact while it may still look good for further use.

        • hey guys im a college student, 2 years before i pass out, parents not supportive when it comes to things involving biking
I just want the cheapest (yet effective) set of riding gear that can last for 2-3(ie it shouln't wear out or deteriorate) till i pass out and start earning.
These are the lowest that i have heard so far.
          motomesh gloves @ 800
          dsg falcon jacket @ 3790
          knee guards @ 500

          Anything else?
And is it recommended to go for 2nd hand stuufs in case of riding gears?

                  • Unsure if I have posted this before but here goes nothing :P

Looking to buy a jacket, preferably with as much protection as possible along with water resistance.

Narrowed down on the DSG Maze, DSG Nero and DSG Pheonix Jacket as they are within my budget (With the maze being at the far end of the budget!).

If I buy one of these three jackets will I have to buy an elbow guard separately or will the inner protection of the jacket be sufficient enough?

Which of the jackets do I go for?

Also, I am thinking of going for the Nero Lower back support. How good is this product? Can I combine this with a jacket as in wear it on top or under the jacket?

Which model is this? it is not listed in the Alpinestars website.
Also, in the first pic, the jacket seems to have the shoulder and elbow pads missing or removed, or does it just look like that?
