Yes, Thanks. I don't like flashy stuffs. Simple is good; I'm glad to hear that it has armour & lining which suits my requirement. So I'll go get one next month unless someone raises some negative (I'm aware of the narrow zip at the bottom, which I'm OK)

So this one has armour inside is it? Good.

Also its better to order one from India rather than asking someone to bring or getting it shipped from US.

PS - Neil, still the Fox looks cool isn't it? I also read in this thread that the plastics aren't that good on Fox. But I saw Sunny sir wearing one & hence the thought of Fox chipped in.

Probably the only negative I can think of is that the fitting at the waist isnt the best i.e. it isnt a snug fit like the upper half is. It would however perfectly suit people with a healthy figure.

The advantage of picking up a Cramster or a DSG is that you can try it out and find out what size is the perfect fit.

The Fox body armour looked pretty neat but at the end of the day usability wise I would say a DSG Nero makes more sense.

i would say-buy a leather jacket and wear an elbow guard inside. no textile jacket has the abrasion resistance of the leather jacket.

+1 to that. But leather riding gear is more expensive.

I want to buy riding pants that I can zip with my riding jacket (it has a zip to link the pants). Any suggestions? Cramster pants cost 4k for the mesh ones but i want something better.

@aargee--mesh shall provide you with ventilation and shall work well inside town, but once you are out in the highway, the hot air will pierce through mesh, so i have avoided that.
you may buy a jeans jacket and armors from a sports shop and get it stitched for in-city usage.

Adi & Murali - Sorry guys, leather is not my choice except for shoes; somehow feel uncomfortable wearing leather.

I love to wear the armour kind of costume riding my motorcycle & that's why I preferred (read preffered) A* instead of DSG Nero that looks simple. Anyway, looking at the difficulties of getting an A*, I'm thinking of DSG Nero.

If it comes equipped with an inner-liner than good. shall serve the purpose.

Spend as much as you can on riding gears, this is one thing which you shall never regret

hey guys im a college student, 2 years before i pass out, parents not supportive when it comes to things involving biking
I just want the cheapest (yet effective) set of riding gear that can last for 2-3(ie it shouln't wear out or deteriorate) till i pass out and start earning.
These are the lowest that i have heard so far.
motomesh gloves @ 800
dsg falcon jacket @ 3790
knee guards @ 500

Anything else?
And is it recommended to go for 2nd hand stuufs in case of riding gears?

@gautam-- it is always preferred to go in for brand new products,

though if you come across branded stuff which haven't CRASHED and isn't stinking, you may go for it.

In Bombay, you may go to AH Helmets(Jogeshwari W) and check out, nice shop with decent deal. ph--26743088.

The DSG products are good at that price, you may go for those too.

Guys Sheel & Neil (what a rhymic) - Settled finally for DSG Nero. Will call them up today & proceed from there on.

My next target would be rain suits & mostly would be an imported stuff.

Edit - But comparing DSG Nero & DSG Phoenix both are almost the same. Any idea on the differences from the owners? And looks like DSG Maze is missing the back armour yet priced higher. Any ideas?

Edit - I spoke to the DSG guy in Kochi & he said all the 3 of them use the same material & the differences were only in the reflective material; the armours are included in all 3 of them internally in the jacket. Most probably I might go in for Nero or Maze. I'm biased on Maze for...
1. Adjustable sleeve compression straps & Adjustable sleeve cuffs and waist belts
2. Heavy non-water-absorbing mesh for excellent abrasion resistance and ventilation
The only point I'm hesitant on Maze is the EVA foam back pad on Maze while Nero has an armour or both of them the same? Any inputs on this please?

Aargee, I vaguely remember someone at our TSM had the Maze. I think Micheal (Remobangalore) has the Maze, just check with himIf you had posted this earlier we couldve done research in Yercaud :-)

You spoke to Sabu at AutoQueen, Cochin ? Couple of points
* The Nero has adjustable cuffs (velcro) and an adjustable arm thingy (2 buttons between the elbow and the sleeve)
* It also has velcro straps at the waist that act like a belt
* The Nero also seems to have a foam back pad
* IIANM, the Maze came out recently as compared to the Nero, which has been around for ages
* I had checked out the Maze earlier, didnt feel it was worth the extra 700 bucks, that just my take.

Congratulations on a good sensible choice. Manju is the sales person for riding gear at Orion Motors, Bangalore. I keep dropping in there to check for new stock on KBC / Sparx helmets. He knows what he sells. Nero isnt exactly water repellant but does a really good job of keeping you dry if you have the lining on. For 100% dryness a rain coat thing is a must.

P.S - who is the DSG guy you spoke to from Cochin ?

Yes & that's why I'm settling in for the single piece this time. Though expensive, I love riding in rains & especially to watch the envious bikers eyes who pull over at fuel station/tree/underneath bridge/bus stand

Must be Sabu from AutoQueen. They are the only guys who stock up riding gear - both DSG & Cramster. His business is booming these days.
