  • @tibby - Congrats!

Believe it or not a month and a half ago, these boots were available on newenough now motorcyclegeardotcom for $169 on closeout. Yes, that's right only 169$. Shipping to India was some $65 odd. Duties were extra. So, including everything it may have just worked out just under $300 overall. I even posted a query here asking what is the first hand experience of the users here but received no reply.

I waited for a reply for a day and then decided to buy the very next day. But Alas! my sizes were sold out. Regret very much now

Thanks! They are getting comfortable now.
However, there are no replacement for daily footwear. They are good so long as walking on flat surfaces, as they are designed to not bend (in the event of a crash).

They are expensive, but well worth the money. They are water-resistant, & carry a SIDI tag.

        - Does these riding boots also come with protectors?
        - Are these advisable for everyday city commuting purpose or only for long rides?

But tell me, even the riding pants I find it little cumbersome for everyday ride to office, do we really need a riding boots or is there one for everyday use? Reason being that, using a riding boot everyday will force me to carry along the formal footwear instead of wearing it & riding.
Aditya has answered all your queries well, so I won’t delve on them.
Full-length Riding boots would not be very practical for daily-wear, especially if it involves riding in traffic. Moreover, carrying them around would be an issue, as they are huge & weight about 15.-2.0 kgs.
Riding boots like these should be comfortable for daily-use, but don't offer great protection: Alpinestars S-MX 2 Boots: Red - Rs14,250.00

I can't believe it was available for half-the-price!
        Tough luck there mate.

extremesupply.com have these boots listed for USD 276.99. Do check their reputation before picking it from there though.
Alternately, you can use the ‘Best Price Guarantee’ to match the price on any of the online riding gear stores. I did that on bikebandit.com.

        EDIT:

Won't be able to help you much there mate.
I believe iccworld.com ships to India. Also look back a few pages on calculation of applicable duties.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Well its debatable. I remember that when i had been to France on business, my colleague there used to ride to work on a Fazer 750 (in summers). The French law mandates protective gear and he used to carry his formal boots in the tailbag. Protective clothing was worn over the formal clothes.

So its a matter of personal safety. Search online. You might find protective boots that could look close to most formal shoes.

These boots retail for US $ 325. Prices may be lower at other stores. If you are able to find a lower price, you can request a price match too. But it wouldnt be anywhere close to the amount you mentioned.

I've spent a fair amount of time doing this research over the weekend and the cheapest price for these boots is US $ 276.99 at Extreme Supply. But the customer service is rated poorly at extremesupply.

There are plenty of online stores selling such stuff. Send them an email to know the exact shipping costs (if they do ship to India). This site might help on the duties and taxes that might be applicable.

              • @Adi & @Tibby - Tks for your answers; through both of your posts, I understand one thing clearly that one has to carry around these riding boots. So if I've to wear a riding boots everyday to work, then I've to buy a tail bag in addition !!! Who said ownership of motorcycles are cheaper than cars

I'm 100% sure that these were priced at the rates mentioned. They were close outs on size 39 and 40 only. The next day I see is that 40 is sold out. Don't believe me? Check out a similar example - an A* Halo leather jacket which retails around $390 and look at the price they are selling

I'm not doubting you at all. What i am saying is that the boots generally retail for USD 325 (for the vertigo rain) and around USD 50 lesser at some other stores. In this case, a price match would help you to pick up the boots at your trusted/favorite/preferred online store (if they have them in stock).

                      Ah I missed that part...Sorry!

To all - Reasearch pays. I did almost 3 months of research before almost completing my purchase. Do check out ebay sites as well. Still have a few pending things, boots included and am eagerly awaiting for some juicy deals . And my personal experience has been very good while dealing with the US sites. Same case with UK. You do need to shell out more than the biker in the US/UK for the same product, but I guess thats the price we have to pay for lack of some of the brands here. So, don't hesitate for an online deal. If you like something and budget permitting, go for it.

                      • Anyone has the Alpinestar SMX 5 boots? I have selected them for myself but would still like to know if there are better options available in 250$, the SMX 5 are waterproof and look good.

Heres a pic from ultimate motorcycling:

Try Gaerne boots. They seem to be really good. IIRC Rossiter has a pair of Gaerne boots.

These are made in italy, just like A* and Sidi's.
