Also, i got these gloves from karol bagh delhi, duplicate or not they are not good in build quality, the probiker rubber sticker below the knucles came off when i was riding at very high speed. My friend today was trying to check the flexibility and was bending it a bit, and it got a crack :P, must be a duplicate one for sure.

I have the axo knee guards, which are flooded in the market, not convinced that any of them including mine are original, if i have the time i will email axo and try to get confirmation, i couldn't find these guards on their website.Originally posted by abhi_underdog View PostThe ones on ebay (axo knee guard and elbow guard set) going for rs 1200 or os , arent they original ?

Further to my point that i made a couple of months back, whilst trying to buy a riding jacket, I was offered an alpine stars jacket, which had no name, just told by the dealer it's a basic model (the dealer advertises on this site), as I know all models have a specific name/identity, i mailed the pictures to Alpine stars in Italy, who confirmed it was indeed a fake. The dealer claimed he must have been duped by the importer and would take the product off the market, Alpinestars had requested the details of the dealer, i didn't oblige to date, i thought i'll give the dealer benifit of doubt.
But the real shocker to me is the reaction from other forum members (which was zero) not one single member had requested information on this jacket, so as to avoid. Many of you will buy fake products, but not really care whether or not the product is genuine or fake, the most important issue is saving money not lives, i am perplexed by this attitude, the bottom line is if you want to be fully kitted out in genuine safety gear, you need to expect to spend atleast 12k, which is a large proportion to what most will spend on purchasing a bike, even then you still have no guarentee that ou will walk away from an accident, but your chances will be higher, using fake products is always going to be a gamble, your protectors need to be original and CE marked.

Scoyco will be most likely genuine, as they are a Chinese brand anyway. Most the fake stuff is coming from China and is readily available throughout Asia.Originally posted by Tachyon View Postwow! now it is getting more confusing to identify the original elbow protector brands from the fake ones....

Its just a CE approved or EN 1621 or EN ****** mark anyways, that can be faked easily i guess, so basically we need to buy a product from manufacturer's sites directly or genuine dealer ( which are hard to find ).Originally posted by stefanm View PostI have the axo knee guards, which are flooded in the market, not convinced that any of them including mine are original, if i have the time i will email axo and try to get confirmation, i couldn't find these guards on their website.

Im looking to buy boots for myslef.
I would prefer the cut boots with just ankle support and not the full length boots as that would be just too impractical for me to use.
Im liiking for something like the Alpinestars S-MX-2 Alpinestars S-MX 2 Boots: Red - 14,250.00Rs
I have a budget of about 5-10K.
please advise me which companies i should consider and also where will they be available.
Preferably in PUNE.
thanks for your help.MY RACING CAR BUILD

Your post was noted and appreciated by many of the senior and more discerning of the members here - a lot of us are also aware of the duplicates being offered by this dealer amongst many other products. It's easier to sell a lot of fakes amongst a few originals just like it's easy for bars to pour in cheap booze in expensive bottles.
That said, most of the more experienced users of gear did not jump in to crucify the guy because this is a public forum and such allegations/aspersions without proof are not the done thing. However, if you did get the proof, you should have posted it for the benefit of the entire forum and exposed this fraud for what he is.
Agreed entirely - I too have posted before that our pre-occupation to get 'cheap' usually leads us to make buys that are actually a waste of money by buying not just fakes but also gear that is unsuitable for the function. Yet the emphasis and focus seems to be on simply getting the best 'price' without actually ensuring that we actually got a good product that would serve our purpose. This inexplicable attitude is what leads to such a thriving 'fake' market in the first place.Originally posted by stefanm View Post

Regarding your AXO's - ( I presume that you're talking about the TMKP version, since the markets are flooded with them) chances are very good that they're fakes cause the brand has no representation in India and if they were being sold by a reseller, they would be at least the factory retail price they are in Europe which is about 35 Euros (Rs.2250). How they sell 'originals' for 1000/- odd rupees after cost+insurance+freight+duties+margins beats me.
Obviously fakes IMHO.
The good news is that the basic mould is in the open market and the many knock-offs and similarly designed products do serve the basic purpose of knee-protection ( after all, something IS better than nothing ), the caveat being that even the original was meant for -offroad use only, and not probably serve adequately in a high speed road crash..
This is not entirely accurate. It IS possible to get quality protection for less - the biggest brand of them all spends millions of dollars on advertising, endorsements and sponsorships - and the money comes from the products they sell. That means YOU as a consumer are paying for them indirectly whenever you purchase their products and the price is not a reflection on their actual worth. My take would be to research and shop around and look for a product/brand that does NOT spend too much on promotions and focuses more on their product quality, design and adherence to safety norms.Originally posted by stefanm View Postthe bottom line is if you want to be fully kitted out in genuine safety gear, you need to expect to spend atleast 12k,

I'd say definitely comparable.
Fit may be an issue though unless you're sure of your size.

Make sure you have the specified size of Fieldsheer Congo Mesh.
In fact I also shortlisted that but could not find the size from Close Out Sale of Motorcycle Superstore.
Finally bought the Shift Racing Jacket for 120 USD of MEDIUM Size. Waiting for it to arrive by next week thru my US contact.
Shift Racing Triton Storm Series Jacket - Street Bike - Closeout - Motorcycle Superstore
Though still confused about the size. May be I may have to sell it in X-Bhp.
