Hey thanks tons!Originally posted by diffuser911 View PostIt's 14%. You can check at the beginning of the thread.
I recently purchased a couple of knee guards which I didnt pay any duty on (my friend got it for me). So I was wondering how much it would be if I did.

It would be approx 34.65% in import duties incl. CVD & surcharges.Originally posted by prajwalkashyap View PostHey thanks tons!

The 14% and the 35% has got me a leeeeetle bit confused. I am not going to be ordering online anytime soon but correct info is greatly appreciated. Thanks diffuser and Planetdsg. I am assuming both to be correct, coz of planetdsg's line of business, and Manson's pressumed personal experience.Originally posted by PlanetDSG.com View PostIt would be approx 34.65% in import duties incl. The difference is products being imported also attract CVD (Countervailing duty) & a number of cess (education cess etc). Basic import duty may be low but CVD is levied on combined value of product + duty. Cess are levied on value+duty+CVDOriginally posted by prajwalkashyap View PostThe 14% and the 35% has got me a leeeeetle bit confused. I, and a few friends order plenty from the online portals i have reperatedly named in the past on this thread. AFAIK duty on apparel & riding gear is flat 14% the price + shipping value, heck i would nor mind paying a percent or two extra considering the prices 'original' stuff is prices at on these portals.Originally posted by prajwalkashyap View PostThe 14% and the 35% has got me a leeeeetle bit confused.

Spare parts are in the range of 30% something, i do not recall the exact number right now. Thats exactly why your gray market sbk dealers pay duty on engine and chassis only.
Do not know about the others, but BHP helmets pure thrash. I could make the two ends of one of their helmets meet while i was just pressing it with my arms, wonder what protection one of those offer besides the fancy graphics.Originally posted by prajwalkashyap View PostI havent seen any ratings on the GPR/BHP/Fasttrack/AM/Cross, etc.
Prajwal, trust me, I and almost every other educated person would know the above. Infact may i mention i am reasonably well informed about the Chinese market.Originally posted by prajwalkashyap View PostExcept for the air u breathe, everything in the world is made in china.... I am sure that would include the alpinestars, icons, Joe Rockets, etc. The difference would be that their quality checks would be very stringent as compared to other manufacturers, and they would design the products themselves. I am sure this would be the case for large percentage of the products except for a very few. I dont see it being any other way but correct me if I am wrong.
But you already seem to be aware that Alpinestars, JR, Icon, Docmartin, Nokia, Sony and all of these companies purely have their manafacturing facilities in China, not their research & technology development centers, there is a clear difference in having the two.
All of these above well knowned brands, amongst the other famed send across a certain jobload which needs to be executed as per the guidelines of the holding company.
Besides the above way of business, there exist smaller firms in China, who are the world's best at exceuting replicas of models given to them. The production pattern of these replicas need not follow the guidelines and production standards involved in manafacturing the original product.
This is exactly what i was trying to say, DSG in this case could have picked up a good mfr from China, or any other south eastern, or even India company to replicate the Marushin helmets which now they brand as Dajya.

man m telling about the chinese stuffs i knw :
the big brands like alpinestars and all those comapnies
have their factories opened up in china as the labpur cost and cost of raw material is low and the finished products wich dont have any defect in them are exported to us or europe,UAE so the cost of the product is very high there and now the finished products which have defects are now exported to dumping grounds of the world namely china[itself],India, and othewr developing countries..cuz where i live is near to china and i see most of the stuffs shud cost around more than 1000 bucks but due a small defect they are sold at less than 1/8th price of the original so u can understand .......to recover the loss occured in defective finished products they increase the price of teh non defective finished products.
the riding gears we usually import from other countries are usually made in china so if u have any1 from china u can get them at very low cost.
you wont even understand whether it is made in china or whre ever...without the tag "made in china"
neways the thing is that u shud knw that what is the quality of the product,if u are not so expert then u'll bear the loss.....neways i live in such place which is the junction of four countries [nepal, china, bhutan, bangladesh]
so easy to get chinese stuffs here at very low prices here
my friends got a chinese cellphone having 3.5' touch screen ,dual sim,1.3 mp cam, micro sd card slot[upto 2gb]
cost??
a whopping 3.5k

so easy to get anything chinese made here __________________Speak Less,Speak Wise!

I wouldn't call it safer than what u get here from Planetdsg or Cramster, for the simple reason that the elbow and shoulder protectors are not CE certified. Usually, the CE certified ones would be rubber injected mouldings and are a lot more effective than foam based protectors on impact. That said, you could also order a complete set of protectors seperately, and swap the original foams with them.

Why aren't too many people interested in the Jackets offered by Cramster? Why do they go to great lengths ordering other brands online when you have Cramster offering jackets? Cramster armour is CE certified too right?
Anybody have an opinion on the mesh jacket by Cramster?Riot Engine |Norton WD 16H | BSA C11G |Enfield Fury

Search on net for the review of the jacket. If you can't find one, I'd suggest don't buy it, coz there are reviews where after a few years, the non branded jackets just fall off, come out of seam etc. My opinion is that the jacket is not worth buying, because of inferior quality protection. The quality difference between any local made jacket and branded is phenomenal. For additional 20-30 dollars, you can get a good branded jacket. Buy one with CE protectors, not the 'blasted foam' ones.
Also, I'd suggest don't go for only 'air vents' jacket. India in general is a hot country, and you'll be sweating like hell. Go for a mesh one, preferably with a liner inside.
And lastly, buying such things is mostly safe. Only thing is you have to be sure about your size. Go to the manufacturer's website, there it will be given how much chest/waist should be fitting which measurement, and order accordingly.
