My suggestion is that you list out your necessities and requirements for any trip in mind and then go for a bag that would be able to accommodate these items.

If you get a big bag you'll most definitely find something to stuff in it, even if it is something totally unnecessary for your trip. Plus, too much load will have a detrimental effect on the handling of your bike unless you are riding a true blue tourer and the weight is spread around the bike uniformly.

@ Aargee- I have the Elite tail bag and its fantastic. Highly recommended and expands to nearly double its size. Quality is top notch. You might wanna consider this.

Sure why not? But pls let me know the prices. The website says around $150, which is more expensive than the ones I listed above.

Yes, that's the approach I took, but what I'm unable to relate is the number of items versus the litres.

Well said & this is part of my apprehension too. That's the reason I'm seeking experts help.

Elite? You mean Elite is ALSO expandable? I thought only Expandable Explorer Rack Bag can be expanded. It certainly looks a cool option when you can carry as backpack as well as tail bag. BTW, how many litres at normal & when expanded?

      • Bought a RJays Swift last week from Bachoo Motors.. Black and red version as it matches my black Fazer

So far I have used it with and without inner liner in moderate rains and have been completely satisfied with the product.. I had checked out a DSG nero too prior to this and I found it too bulky for my taste..

In addition to the jacket, I also bought a AXO's knee cap and elbow guard combo for 1000 bucks.. (not sure if that's the best price for that though, can any one confirm it please.)

Now only bits remaining are the gloves and riding boots..

Yes, the Elite is also expandable. I dont know how many liters cos the site doesn't mention it.

But these pics below should give you an idea of the size.

The bag has a velcro strap that goes under the rear seat in addition to the bungee cords which can be hooked to the bike on the pillion rider foot pegs. There is also an extra strap that can be latched to the bag and this goes under the rear tail of the bike to provide better stability to the bag. Comes with a 100% waterproof rain cover too. All zippers are waterproof anyways and the bag has ample reflective material. Its like a glow bag in the night.

Edit - i could easily fit stuff that i needed (and some extra's that just were stuffed in and were not required) for a 3 day trip (to munnar which i unfortunately couldnt make it, you would have seen the bag there if i made it.)

            My requirements are...
            - Good rain (possibly dust) proof tail bag
            - Preferably expandable
            - Suits well on C250R
            - Should hold clothes for 2-3 days in touring in addition to chain lubes, small tools (2 screwdrivers, rachet & few sockets, puncture kit & optional foot pump), First aid & toileteries.
            - Other than this, I don't see anything significant, but pls feel free to add

Now, where I seek suggestion is, I'm not sure how many litres of bag should I choose as I'm not sure I'm overlooking/under looking my requirements. Here're the ones I sorted out...

            1. Nelson Rigg CL-800 - 37 Litres
            2. Nelson-Rigg CL-1040 - 29 litres expandable upto 38 Litres
            3. Cortech Tribag System - 30 litres
            4. Rapid Transit Platoon Tail Bag 70 litres
            5. FIRSTGEAR ONYX TAIL BAG - 36 to 51 litres
            6. FirstGear Laguna Expandable Tail Bag - 31 lts to 40 lts
            7. FirstGear Onyx Nylon Tail Bag - 36 to 46 lts
            8. FirstGear Silverstone Tail Bag - 34 to 46 lts

I was simply tempted to buy the one marked in RED color, but not sure & thought to seek advice from here on the capacity & then buy one. Pls help.
I have the FIRSTGEAR ONYX TAIL BAG .The bag is nice one. I got it from riders discount for 3400 only.. VFM..

Won't a 70 litre bag be a bit too big.?
            RIP Marco

            • @Adi - Ok, done then!!! Its RJay's Elite. Let me wait for Zulfi to get back for the price. I'll be ordering one tonight, so, if Zulfi gets back to me before that, I'll consider lucky

@Vkuchhal - Tks. Frankly speaking, I didn't pay attention to tail bags until my need arise. I don't know frankly how big or small will a 70 lts will be.

Good Lord! You wanted to carry that much stuff for a three day-ride! Spare pocket bike perhaps?
