Any tips? Running it on VISTA x64.
IF you are on ATI..and you have uninstalled physx well just reinstall them.
you can say that NVIDIA plays bad politics when it comes to game coding..

since you dont have the physxloader.dll file your game is crashing.so reinstall and enjoy.

people are running on windows 7.so running on vista is piece of cake.

    • I got this following config Anvancy:

      Intel i7 920 D0 stepping
      Ati 4850 512 MB
      Gigabyte UD5
      6GB 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM
      240 GB HDD

Searched online for problems and this seems to be fairly common. I updated to latest ATI driver, installed Physx driver from NVIDIA DRIVERS 9.09.0814. Still no use. Just googled for "nfs shift crashes before test lap" and tried every nonsense specified. Still no use! This sucks...

And it does look fairly common... References are available even on the EA forum.

DIRECT X and PHYSX are two separate entities having their own unique coding.so do not confuse that if you get a physxloader.dll error that your direct x is age old.

for proper functioning..copy all the THREE files present in the folder.i hope you know which folder i m talking about.

next, mount the ISO in daemon tools pro(i use pro).and install the physx from there.i think the ISO contains a physx installer.do it from there.sometimes a game requires particular dll files for it to play.

another option for you is to download driver sweeper, sweep clean all AGEIA PHYSX software including registries.it does that for you.then install from either the ISO of SHIFT or your latest PHYSX software.

btw which catalyst are you on??

            i installed one time,everything is running damn smooth.and i m on ATI.i m running on 9.10 non WHQL drivers with realtek 2.34drivers.

revert back if you still face problems.

I am aware of that. I was suggesting this since lots of people with the same error on *koff koff* forums have resolved this issue by updating their Direct X and using that dll file. EA and their coding cant be trusted.

              • Thanks a lot guys.

@Anvancy: Well it goes like this: I have updated DirectX. Updated Catalyst to Version 9.9. Am just trying what u said. Anything else, like finer details, I will PM u.

And there was no PhysX installed earlier, so this is the first one on my PC. Also I removed the physxloader.dll before installing Physx. So there cannot be any older versions available. And DxDiag has no problems with any drivers in the system.

                • I Just Installed NFS Shift and installation was successful however after the introduction when the game its very very slow
Tried decreasing all possible Graphic settings of the game, decreased PC resolution to 1200x768 and still no luck

                  My PC Config -
                  Win XP SP2 with Direct-x 10
                  Intel 33FG System Board
                  2.4 Core2Dio, 2GB Memory
Nvidia Gforce 8400XS Display with 256MB dedicated memory
15GB free HDD space - Seagate Baraccuda SATA 7500RPM

Any suggestions to increase the game speed ??

dude i was seriously disappointed by farcry 2 , having played FarCry 1 multiple times this FC2 is exactly far-cry from its Predecessor .

Is this issue in any way solved by having the NVIDIA PhysX installed in your computer? I have a folder called the "AGEIA Technologies" installed the C:\Program Files where there are PhysX engine versions from v2.3.1 to v2.8.1, Thre is also a NVIDIA PhysX icon on the control panel opening which shows a dialog box titled "PhysX Properties" telling me i have no PhysX processor installed but have the above mentioned engine versions installed. Sorry for really n00b-y doubt buti didn't know how else to ask

Well to be frank I'm no big fan of FPS games, this game was dubbed the "GTA:Mogadishu" and for good reason, because the sandbox in this game is BIG, i mean really big, i was playing this for 20 minutes on my friends rig and i completely lost my way, with the map in my hand! Probably i would get Far-Cry first, seeing your recommendation thanks for the reply anyway

                            • @aparajith: answered your PM

@whizz_kid:i find to me overall satisfactory.i usually stay away from segate after reading the issues.my friend is having one(500GB) and he too is thinking of shifting out of segate.any HDD like WD,HITACHI will do.i myself have one HITACHI and one WD.

@el loco: when one shifts from a particular graphics card to the next..in my and your case from NVIDIA>>ATI it is always preferred to remove ALL NVIDIA drivers.this then solves any conflicting issues.
since PHYSX is a part of NVIDIA now..since AGEIA sold it to NVIDIA,whenever you see NVIDIA logo in the game,it means that the game has been coded for those cards.it has been shown time and again that nvidia has played politics during game coding which makes playing games on ATI buggy.
take the case of BATMAN.through NVIDIA you can easily opt for AA ON or OFF.but for ATI you have to force AA through CCC.if you check forums(speically guru3d.com)people have stated this very same problem.

certain games require PHYSX.games such as wolveriene, mirrors edge, rail simulator,BATMAN and now this NFS SHIFT.i way back installed physx from nvidia updated it to latest and i face no problems regarding physx.

so when i said that you should remove ALL NVIIDA drivers you should not delete physx.you can delete physx but you will have to reinstall the latest one.

tell me one thing.in all the games have you ever seen ATI logo??i remember the last one i saw was in ROLLERCOASTER TYCOON 3.many games are NVIDIA things to be played embossed.poor us ATI people...kidding.

on the bright side ATI helped CODEMASTERS develop DIRECTX 11 coding and architecture in DIRT 2.and ofcourse their highly talked EYE INFINITY.i want a 5870..

Yeah i mean what is the deal with that? Ati actually supports people piggybacking the PhysX card onto their Gpu's or something similar (Youtube: Tiger TV/Comp USA). But as of now i have this package of engine versions installed and there are specific instructions in the folder that i don't delete any versions manually. Which is the latest version out?
