i am facing a problem in my net connection.suddenly the net speed has become slow browsing wise.when i download something say a torrent or a a file from the net..it gives full speed.but when i browse,it is dead slow.

i first thought that my desktop has some malware..checked it..none.
i also ran the net through my lappy and still the same problem persists.

any reasons??i am thinking of calling the customer care.but that would not be that helpful since my line is healthy.i am receiving full speed for downloads.so why such slow browsing???no cookies are stored and i regularly run cc cleaner.

Do you have dual boot? If yes then try browsing and downloading in another OS to see if it works.
I myself sometimes have this problem in Vista so I switch to XP and the problem is gone.

I will ask if you are using Chrome? I had a very bad experience with Chrome. I installed it. it worked fine for 2-3 days but then it started acting like dumb. It will keep resolving the host for about a couple of minutes. While on the other hand FF & IE were working like charm.

Anvancy you don't need to worry about IPs, DHCPs or anything else. If you can browse the net (even though slow) then all the numbers are fine. Just do some trial and error to get to the root cause.
- Try to browse internet from other OS if you have dual boot.
- Try different browsers.
- If you have another PC/laptop then check the internet on that.
- Try system restore.

Try using OpenDNS servers for DNS.
They are free and fast.

Anybody played Dead Space with the latest 180xx drivers from NVidia?Upgrading to the 180xx broke Dead Space for me. I had to roll back to 178.13 from 180.43.

O darn! I downloaded the 180.48 drivers for my card just last night but haven't installed them yet. What exactly happened? Is the game crashing with the 180 drivers? Thanks for the heads-up.

It crashed for me atleast. Along with FO3,Oblivion,UT3 and CoD4. FC2 and Assassin's creed worked.

I have 8800 GT, Vista Ultimate and I installed the 180.43 drivers.
In case, you get into trouble use DriverCleaner.
I think I may have had trouble because I had nHancer installed. Not sure though.Could be specific to my machine.

Thanks for sharing the information. This means basically all the games which I am playing right now will crash if I go ahead with the driver installation.. Still, would give it a try; I just hope the crashes doesn't corrupt the save game files!
