I know the area sales manager quite well, so he agreed to get me the MSI X58 board and CORSAIR RAM as well. Where did u get the GIGABYTE from? I normally shop at DELTA and those buggers dont stock Gigabyte. And yeah, read about BIOS issues in ASUS, Intel but not on MSI, Gigabyte. 6GB of RAM. I am thinking of Crossfire setup. So will go for RAM as my wallet opens up. But 50K for RAM+Proccy+Board is . I better wait for a month or two for the market to stabilise... I know the prices will not come down for i7 to become mainstream, but atleast my wallet would have gotten fatter by then!. The CoolerMaster is Extreme Power, 80%+ certified...
MSI X58 eclipse was the first one to get BIOS problems... i personally experienced a nightmare with that... so it was the reason i went for th gigabyte... u could try ur luck at RA automation... he was the one who ordered the board for me..... a bit costly and took a long time of 10 days to deliver but gave a quality product... workin good for the past week, no issues yet... touch wood

I better wait for another 1-2 months for these products to stabilise. The first batch of boards are almost ALWAYS unstable and have issues to be sorted out. So Jan or Feb is upgrade time!!!

        cheapest/reliable proccy's and cabinets - oasis computers
        optical drives,ram,HDD - delta pheripherals
networking solutions - a shop inside KAJ plaza, comes near mount road, dont remember the shop name(not challenger computers, bleddy beggars, steal from u!)
graphix - RC automation(costly but reliable)

yeah good choice.... we could'nt get our hands on the cheaper X58 boad by gigabyte, DS4... try to get tat one.... i'ts much cheaper than the extreme version. you could do some research for that board....
and for more information on gigabyte boards, there is a dlink/gigabyte service center in the same complex of that of devi complex... i went there to know tat i could x58 from RC automation(also dealers of MSI)

bro.. if its gamin for u then its a core2duo high end core.... a highend core is around 13k and this is the entry rate for a quad... so to have 8-10 lower fps in a game for half the price of a high end quad like the extreme... i seriously would go only for the C2D..
but wat intel has done to the i7 is something beyond phenomenon to produce such a chippery at around 17k... and the last of the i7 is around 1000$ which i assure u and hope tat everyone in this thread would accept tat it would give only about 15-20 more fps more....this would give u an impression tat u have wasted ur money... in which case it would not be necessary to go for such a high end chip

in fact, for a card like the GTX280, it cannot handle the full performance of a E8500... leave alone the i7 and tat too the 965 extreme.
so if want to consume all the power of an i7, then be ready for shelling out money for the Sli or the crossfire. atleast then u'd be able to use around 50% of the processor during games.. the i7 at my friends place uses on an average of 26% in crysis in enthusiast.. this is clear because he using a puny 8800GT in front of a monster. the only thing left for the card is to pee...
so never it wuld occur tat ur gaming performance is affected by ur processor... its always ur graphix card. the real culprit.

              • ^^Yeah, I know. Very much agree to what u say. The Graphics card and Proccy+Mboard+Ram system have to complement each other. My system stands a living testimony for the same. 5 years on, I still play Crysis with Enthusiast settings and have no choppy frame-rates etc. IF I do go in for i7, it will be with a CrossFire setup as I mentioned earlier. Also, i7 will be an overkill now, but thats what people said when the 3 Ghz processors came, C2D came, Quad-cores came et al. So as time goes on and with the advent of a good game, even the i7 will be begging on its knees. So, I for one will go for THE BEST and HI-END config I can get for now and avoid making small continuous upgrades. Saves me the troubles of getting stuck with a system that has no future roadmap left and avoids me from spending on upgrading it!

omg... upgrading a computer step-by-step is the worst thing to do and the worst nightmare one can have... u keep ur hand in one part and eventually another one goes and it would eventually end up in a hardware evolution at a higher price, which if we had applied in our mind a bit earlier, we could have changed it at all a lower cost..!! phew...

                  • Found out a review of newly launched Galaxy Geforce 9800GT Xtreme Tuner Edition. From the review it seems that it's the fastest GPU at that price band.

Techtree.com India > Reviews > Peripherals > Graphics Accelerators > Galaxy GeForce 9800GT Xtreme Tuner Edition 512 MB

Is Galaxy a prominent name in the GPU area? I have never heard of it.

Also what you guys think of this motherboard:

                      • as from the first sight, the components are VERY WELL LAID OUT..!! amazing to see tat... and it would support any sized aftermarket cpu cooler...
it seems to be more of an multimedia mobo from the kind of i/o options given..... and FSB is restricted to only 1333... i think tat is a setback...
and no SLi support...!!!! didnt expect from GeForce..

the onboard led display seeems to be cool, overclocking could be easy i suppose. rather than that the overclocking potential needs to be reviewed to c the juice it can churn...

but on the whole at around 8.5k i think its a bit too much to pay for a board with NO SLi.
