Which one would be better between the HD4850 and 9800GT.Also i heard that GTS250 is a better bet and is available at similar price point. What say!!
The i5's come with a 1136 pin config, so you have to go for a LGA-1156 socket P55 board. The Intel P55's DP55WB costs 6.3K, the DP55WG is 8.4K and the DP55KG is 11.7K, there are two in Asus, P7P55-D which costs 10K and P7P55D-PRO costing 12K, and one model in Gigabyte GA-P55-UD2 costs 6.2K. A little birdie told me that Intel boards are not so good for gaming, Gigabyte would be a safe bet here. But your i5 processor would take up most of the budget, the i5-750 has a price tag of 9.9K. But with an i5 the clock speed comes with a range between 2.66Ghz to 3.2Ghz so you don't have to worry about heating or warranty issues during overclocking.

Never ask an Ati fanboy to decide between a ATi and a nVIDIA product

I'm not familiar with AMD processors quite that much, but the Intel i5 should be quite a good choice nonetheless. But your GPU is compatible with the Gigabyte no doubt, the system memory of your GPU is not related with the type of your motherboard. For example my GPU is a DDR5 running on my P43 motherboard. It's only for your RAM that you need to take care for compatibility, for example my P43 can't run a DDR3 RAM. As for the PSU you can go for the Corsair if you are able to afford it, i got a Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 600 for 3K, this is the cheapest of the lot among the aftermarket PSU's.

        • The i5-750 is a better performer than the Ph II 965BE. The 955 BE is 200 MHz slower but you can easily OC it.
The platform would be slightly costlier than the AMD one.

If you are not putting in a big GPU then you could do with a 450-500W supply. Check for CM Real Power series as an economical alternative.

But seriously, you want to pair up a 955/750 with a low-perf part like a 4650? Not considering better options?

          • Guys, finally i checked out the local shops out here and to my disappointment i didnt find any of the mobos in stock. Even Rashi Peripherals doesnt stock the Gigabyte mobos.Even the prices are 10-15% higher than what i found in pricing websites and magazines.

The Models which i shortlisted were: Gigabyte EP43T-UD3L and MSI P45 Neo 2. Instead i was recommended Asus P543TD.How is it.It supports DDR3 and runs on 1600Mhz OC FSB!!

Even the XFX HD 4850 was quoted at 9000.Is it fine?

So i was thinking of ordering the graphics card and the mobo from ebay. How reliable it is.Please share your experiences, if any!!

Actually, I have updated it to v1.01 and updated the associated .exe file with the correct .exe file (v1.01). But, it still doesn't work, unfortunately.

I faced a similar problem when I had installed Mirror's edge sometime last year. The problem is with the default resolution that the game sets. Check in google for the fix. There's a notepad file that you need to modify to change the resolution

Generally happens if your sys specs exceed the game requirements. For eg, in my sys, the default res chosen was 1280X 1024 ( I think ) and the monitor only supported 1440X900. Just need to modify the default resolution setting.
                            Hope this helps

                            • @hifi: Thanks for the suggestion. I changed the "Compatibility Mode" of the game, and now strangely, it works! However, I do not find the game of much interest, unfortunately; atleast in the beginning it isn't. I sure hope the pace builds up in some-time.

even later, there's not too much stuff to try out, just running from waves of attackers and the occasional melee. but this is a game you can sit for like 6-7hrs and finissh at a stretch-feels less repetitive that way
