What's responsible for acceptance of low quality fuel --> Is ECU and Fuel Map, the same thing?

I think one example can be KTM Duke 690 which has 3 fuel maps, one specially for 91 octane type fuels...
so if a professional test magazine can run their R1 on 91 octane then i guess it is ok for me to fill it with 91 octane n run it huh????even i dont mind power rob!! coz i will still have enough and more to out run anything on road if i want to !!!

        thanks..
Most SBKs will run fine with 91 octane. It's the purity of the fuel that matters as much as the octane in our country.

First thing, please stop using SMS language.

There will not be any long term damage unless you have a tendency to wrench the throttle open and load the engine up in a huge way. Low down, there will be some knocking, but in general you will be fine.

            • Pulsar 150. which fuel to use. normal/ premium

              Hi,
Got a 6 months/12K km old P150. And my riding style is 'itchi right wrist'.
keep going on 200-300 KM weekend rides with pillion.

Last time got premium petrol and felt that the bike is better responding.
But also read, that using high octane petrol can harm your bike.

Can some one let me know, what is recommended octane for p150 and which one should I go for.

I generally go for Shell normal petrol. I am contemplating over the option of shifting to HP/IndianOil premium petrol.

most auto gurus i have read they say for every 2 full tanks of normal go for 1 full tank of premium, so kinda 2:1 ratio.

                    HELLO FRIEND:

As a biker most of you must have experienced this how the attendants at the petrol pumps distracts you and they fill in less petrol than the amount which u have paid. Just today i went to the BHARAT Petroleum pump at nal stop and was just abt to get duped off 30 bucks for 100 bucks of petrol. What happend was the guy in front of me had filled in worth 30rs and when my turn came the attendant got into a conversation wid me to fill in worth 110 bucks now as i turned arnd to pay the money to the other attendant for a sec the other guy had already filled in 33 bucks in my bike in hardly a sec thats whn i got suspicious and realised what he was upto and i had to raise a huge ruckus over there to make him reset that machine to zero and fill in my moneys worth of gas.

Now folks this not the case of 30 bucks which i had saved but how these people at the pumps dupes ppl off their money to increase their own profits on the expense off customers. Dont know how many people gets duped this way. Now the petrol pump near SHIVAJI PUTALA is famous for fooling people by this method even though the quality of petrol they sell is nothing short of crappy. Even i had got duped there long time back but didnt realize it until i came back home.

Friends is there any way u can prove it to the petrol pump officials if u had ridden your bike a little distance from the pump and later realising that u had been cheated at the pump. I believe that whatever amount of explanation u give the people over there wont even believe u if u r in this type of situation. In this thread i want u guys to share your similar experiences at the pump and how u dealt with it. It would be helpful to me and for every1 reading this. Your feed back will help people save themselves from ripped off their money.

I have also heard a lot about this kind of cheap tactic that the petrol pump attendant(s) resort to in order to make some profit. Here, in Delhi, the attendant however makes sure that we (the customers) have had a look at the counter (which is set to zero) before he/ she starts to fill petrol. This way both he/ she and we, the paying public are safe.

                      • so far this has happened with me atleast 5-6 times in and around pune ONLY AT BP pumps.Always ensure counter is zero.If they don't show it to you just refuse to pay later.

                        • @Samuel... this is a common practice followed by the guys at petrol pump (management doesn't get a share into this) at many places... They don't do this every time though... they try to get you into conversation and don't reset the meter or don't fill in full and reset the meter for next customer before you can realize...

Yes, they show you zero on the meter these days... almost every time... except for a one time they con you by catching you un-watchful.

Yeah, last time my Dad&I were at Indian Oil for our car's fuel&this guy started filling without resetting. I don't remember what it was, but it was not zero. I told him to stop filling&he didn't listen. Suddenly, the pump owner came from behind, rapped him on the head, reset to zero&apologized to us!

                            • This problem can only be cured --- if and so you go with an Empty Tank ---- and most of all u get a bill after u Fill up the Fuel.....

OMG this has not happened to me any time - though i used to be cautious when filling the fuel --- and most of all i used to fill it up in the Bunk near by my house - Cheating has never happened........

                              • Samuel, what happened to you is very common. I stopped wasting my energy and money on such things by filling up ONLY at the BPCL COCO opp. RTO and Shell bunk on Mulshi Road/Hinjewadi. Whats more, you get the best pretrol there and accurate air gauge. The Shell petrol bunk of course is much better, with its automatic bill printing and service. The RTO bunk meters now even display the specific gravity.

The bunk you have mentioned in Kothrud is one of the worst! Even if they don't cheat you while filling, you will get cheated with adulteration... which is far worse.

Its not always convenient for me to fill from these places, but its really worth it.
