Dang ! ... even I store spare foam filters readied like that carelessly . It's also advisable to stuff the air intake hole on the airbox if you store your bike long . Wasps are known to build nest in it .

My uni makes a very loud nd bassy sound coming from the air filter at high speeds, I'm using the stock viscous air filter which I bought new recently, I can hear the air gushing in too. Anyone else face this prob?

UNI filters make quite throaty sound, and all aftermarket filters for that matter. This isn't a problem as such, more air equals more power and you need not worry. As you've said, new viscous filter and air flowing in more, it's completely normal.

        Cheers!

Using the word uni in a thread where discussions of filters is going on means everyone thinks its the filter.

Check your filter. That's the culprit. A throaty roar in a stock filter means excess air is entering it without getting purified by your filter and due to dust entry, you're feeling less acceleration. Get your filter changed asap. If filter is proper then check your air-box.

Ps- enquire if your new filter is supposed to have that sound or no from where you got it. Is it a stock filter?

I'll check the air box, the sound was coming before I bought the new filter that's why I changed it but the problem was still there, nd yea its the stock filter which I bought from the ASC.

There is a foam based called UNI and which produces good amount of throaty roar like most filters. And as abhi stated, excess note means more air and more air is good, but that air should be filtered much like your lungs, if you were to inhale everything you breathe without your lungs, your immune system would screw up in no time and same process.

Check for cracked connecting pipes in air filter box or misaligned filter or ripped filter especially after using an aftermarket to the stock one.

                Cheers!

Personally that's a good practice. Unless it's tailor made specifically for it, like plug and play don't go for it. And especially modifying the AF box to squeeze the conical filter, man it's just so hard to see guys fiddling with stock AF box close to 1000+ bucks just to place a 550 rupees filter inside it, of course there are even costly filters, but the example is exemplary.

Check and post the results here.

                    Cheers!

K&N filters allows for more air suction.. but i also heard that with it more dust particles are also sucked.. is this right or any other harmful effect to the engine..?

Compared to simota and cosworth, k&n has bigger pores for louder sound and increased air suction which results in dust entering the cylinder over time. Try cosworth or simota. You can hardly see the pores. Membrane used is of top quality.

I dun think so. If you use the same filter type, how can more dust enter into it? Also, how can more air be sucked without any additional part added, like turbo or something?

                          Cheerz!!

as these have slightly larger pores compared the the stock paper type filters, that would result in higher air intake than normal..

I am a satisfied customer of UNI. It is not P&P but I guess all you need is expert hands. Mine is a ridiculous set-up (no jetting) of connecting pipes; surprisingly it never created a problem, as claimed by my mechanic.

Routine cleaning makes up for it . Although, the duration is much more after the first installation.

Agree. But, wouldnt changing the type of filter have effect on the engine?? Like from foam to paper type or likewise some other.
