    Bajaj Pulsar 150 DTSi. Advantages/Disadvantages?

    Hi guys,
    I'm planning to buy Pulsar 150 DTSi in the next 3 months coz my wify wants me to ride it! Is it a good bike now, as i was interested in it when it was launched after that i didn't enquire much about it. What are the adv/dis-advantages of owning it. Is ownership cozy to the pockets after 5 years or so? I would like to have this bike for around 10 years or so. Please help me.

    Also, 10 years is a really long time. IMO, no bike is designed to last that long. The pulsars have cheap spare parts; however, bike's life depends on how you really maintain it.

      go for it ...it's a all rounder good bike..But if you are serious about 10 years of ownership go for any other brand like Yamaha or Honda

        Hey Ramki! So you have finally decided to do away with the Fiero?
        Anyway, if you are considering long term usage, the Japs are your best bet in terms of longevity&overall ownership aspect. Moreover, the Pulsar range is due for a revamp next year, I hear.
        If you could give us a few more pointers on your preferences, we could guide you to a better bike!

            Thanks guys for your inputs. Yeah Sarvajit i will be parting with my bike of 7 years as i feel its aging and the oil leakage is still persisting .

            Points i would like to have in my bike:
            1. To be honest, first and the foremost thing is that I hate sports stance vehicles and i would like to have an upright stance while riding same as my Fiero F2.
            2. Spares should be cheap and will like the parts to last longer.
            3. Must be a reliable bike, no serious engine issues.
            4. Should be a 150cc bike with ES.
            5. Good mileage bike.
            6. MUST BE GOOD FOR PILLION TO SIT COMFORTABLY. As me and my wify will be travelling to office on daily basis of about 40 Kms up and down.
            7. Nice brakes and tyres shouldn't skid like my Fiero F2.

              I think the Suzuki GS 150R is the right bike for you. You will find a lot of similarities with your F2 also. Give it a shot-take a test ride, I feel it is the one which satisfies all your requirements.

                  @ Ramki: The Pulsar is a household name even in the remotest parts of the country now.So popularity comes with some degree of quality for sure. You can go for the PULSAR with no doubt in your mind. I have been using the pulsar since its launch and now i ride a pulsar150UG3 and a 220.Some people are of the impression that the bajajs are of an inferior quality,which is baseless.Which manufacturer is 100% perfect.It all depends on how well you maintain a bike.For the preferences you have in mind, pulsars suit perfectly.Go ahead and enjoy........................

                    Ramki as per the requirements mentioned by you, Pulsar is best suited to you.....
                    if you want bike to last 10 long years is a total vague term....... someone can ride 100000kms in 4-5 years and similarly someone will do the same in 8-9years....... also longevity depends how you maintain the bike...... so, considering your points & making a guess that you'll maintain it well and not gonna rip very hard daily and will use in and around city, then there are Pulsars, GS150, Dazzler.......
                    your another point is cheap spare parts and servicing....... then no1 can beat Bajaj in this section...... Pulsar is easy to use & maintain......
                    in terms of mileage, Pulsar, GS, Dazzler, all gives almost similar mileage....... there won't be much difference.......
                    above all, give all the bikes a test ride....... if possible take your friends bikes and give it a try........ then go for it.......

                      Go for Pulsar 150, you won't regret it. But, keep in mind that next upgrade is around the corner for Pulsars, could be in next 3 to 6 months (just my guess).

                        Oh is it really . Where did you get this info from? I would be buying in Jan or Feb starting week. Will i get more info regarding the NEW PULSAR then or takes more time? Any spy shots or the new PULSAR?

                              In one of the recent interviews, Rajiv Bajaj himself mentioned that "Next year would witness some mind blowing launches from us". (available in News.. after the past, Bajaj tries to fix future) So, I would assume that 4-valve pulsars and KTM's are on the way.. Since you'll be buying in Jan or Feb, surely more information would be available. Wait & watch, fingers crossed!!
