  • suggest one. fast

    I'm looking for a bike thats atleast 150cc and costs no more than 85k (onroad). Would be travelling around 50-60km a day (abt 10km city and rest highway). I dont want to spend 1.5 litres every day(more like can't afford) and so FE is important (45+ expected). Also the bike should give me atleast 3 maintenance free years. (hopefully )

    people around me are asking to choose from Yamaha or Honda as the ones from bajaj and tvs start having problems and needs monthly mechanic visits after a year (I dunno much about this, people said its from their own experience. like some screw going lose or chain problems or brake/clutch problems... )

    I don't care about the resale value as i won't be even thinking of selling this one for a good 3 years (unless i win a lottery or something )

    BTW, this will be my first bike ever. I don't have much experience with bikes but i'm okay okay.

    Height - 170cm
    weight = 50 kg
    slim

    from my knowledge (experience of people i know)
    Pulsar 150/180 -> too many reliability problems, sucks on long run, heavy, FE keeps decreasing.. however its economical and gives good initial FE

    apache rtr 150/180 -> vibration problems, poor aftersales service, tyres (suck when wet). however good and steady FE.

    CB Unicorn -> Not interested. (unless i've no other choice)

    Dazzler -> disappointing. poor disc breaks, no engine kill switch, no pass light, poor build quality, smoothness and satisfaction (compared to Unicorn)... FE and looks (better than unicorn) are probably the only positive things about it.

    CBR 150R -> will this be released in India ? anything official ?

    Hunk/CBZ Extreme -> Not interested. (would prefer unicorn over them)

    Karizma R -> would it suit my height ? FE might overshoot budget as well

    R15 - would've loved to to have this one. but overshoots budget by... quite a margin .

    Fazer - overshoots budget (probably)

    FZ 16/S -> Guess its the perfect choice for me at the moment. matches my height. have ridden it and found it to be the smoothest one.

    These are the info to the best of my knowledge. Please correct me wherever i am wrong (if any)

    also suggest me the best thing. should i go for the FZ 16/S or any other bike?

    Welcome to xBhp elixir of life! You forgot to say please. But we will give that pass. That is a detailled first post I must say.

    I don't think that the Karizma or the Fazer overshoots your budget. They are not 85K+.

      FZ 16 at the max it may touch 45 kmpl mileage
      FZ s new one no idea

      you didn't quoted about GS150R (suzuki)

      even the new hunk looks impressive

      may be you have a bad idea about dazzler, but the fact is its not that bad dude... just try test drive and decide....

      so my list for your test drive is

      * Suzuki GS150R
      * New Hero honda Hunk
      * Honda Dazzler

          1.
          you can also include P135 there..
          as powerful as P150.. best technology.. and good mileage figures..
          - only thing fuel tank is small (7 or 9 liter.. dont remember).. If you are a person who fills full tank always to avoid going to petrol bunk may not like that.
          - its bajaj.. so 'may be' higher maintanance..

          2.
          I am not sure, but If you are going to ride on 80+, The company claimed mileage figure would not be applicable there..
          on open highway for 40 KMs, would you be restricting yourself to less than 80?
          If not, forget about mileage and just look for a bike..

          my P150 if ridden at 100-110+ gives a mileage of 25KMPL.
          wheras the bigger bikes are made for this purpose only and give 30+KMPL in same condition..
          hope gives you some indication..

              Cant say about the other bikes, but I got a Fazer recently, and enjoying it to the core. I had almost the same set or requirements as you do.

              I travel from Navi Mumbai to Powai and back everyday and ride it at abt 70-80kmph avg. and getting 45kmpl+ from it..

              I got it registered at Andheri RTO, paid Mumbai Octroi and it costed around 82K for the whole deal..

                FZ or the Unicorn depending on your height.

                Someone who needs to ride so much daily should be bothered first about sizing and fit. And you're going yakking about everything else in the world my man. FE = crap. One back pain and you pay thousands to doctors for life!!

                  Hitanshu you are spot on......Long drives take its toll on human body...esp., if the ergonomics are not right. A commuter of long distances on a daily basis should look for a Commuter bike,...that is kind to our suspension

                    Friend,why haven't you considered Suzuki GS150R in your long list??.In my opinion,it would best suit your requirements.

                      Did try riding a dazzler. didn't find it as good as the original unicorn. moreover the rear disc wasn't all that good. the drum brakes on FZ and unicorn felt stronger. maybe it was a problem with the particular one i drove, but i have heard quite a few owners mention this.

                      How is the hunk ? Rarely get to see it anywhere in my city.

                        just had a check up with the dealers.

                        FZ is available and so would take atmost 2 days.
                        Dazzler to take atleast a month.

                        In terms of mileage, Dazzler is way ahead of FZ. but what about other aspects ? is the ride quality as good as FZ ?

                          let me confuse you--
                          handling is better in FZ but suspension is better in Dazzler....FZ looks better but Dazzler gives more millage as well as performance....
