  • Scooters..Which One?Dio,activa,pleasure or access

    Hello All!
This is my first post here, and I don't know whether i'm posting an age-old question or not.
    So these are my requirements.
I'm planning to buy a motorscooter for my family.I'm a 19 year old Engg Student who comes home only once in a week. i'm planning to keep a scooter at my home which i think would be very handy for once in a week rides to town and all general purpose rides, like buying vegetable from market etc. The scooter should have the look and feel suited for a young guy like me.
I do have two bikes with me,one HH CBZ classic at my college and one Yamaha Rx100 here at home. I plan to keep both of them as of now, and want to have a scooter for those short rides. Also my sister would be able to ride the scooter in time.
    I'm 5'10 and weighs 70kgs.
These are the one's i shortlisted:
    -Honda Deo
    -Honda Activa
    -HH Pleasure
    -Suzuki Access
Among these my fav is Honda Deo(like its look and feel )
do suggest me some other options if they suit my need.

Budget: around 50k ,less than 55k (if less, great!)
Mileage: anything around 40kmpl or more, not less.

hope my inputs have been satisfactory(please point out any mistakes if there are any) .
    Lonely Rider~

i think Honda Dio would suit you the best.It has the sporty look and also returns a good mileage. But try to avoid long rides on it, gives you terrible back pain.
test drive all of them to fin d out which one suits you the best.

        In The Gearless Market
There is no competition for Honda Activa!
My Activa Gives a Fair Mileage of around 35
But the issue is activa is very bulky!
activa costs around 60k on road in mumbai+10months waiting period
but if you shell 5k more you`ll get delivery in 2-3 days!

I've had a chance to ride honda dio for few days and its acceleration stunned me....
my friend even used to pop up wheelies on it
if it were me i'd go for dio or access....

I own a 2010 DIO,before that i used to ride my father's activa but after getting into college i got myself a dio.I have ridden the access but it looked like a vehicle meant for 40 year-old's but its acceleration was better than my dio(think it's the XTP).For me,in the end looks mattered hence i went for the dio.It is awesome to throw around corners(better than my friend's RTR-180)and the engine reassures you every time, anytime! But the grip reduces to near zero during rains and if you are a throttle hungry person like me then go for it because it never loses its breath till you reach 85 after which gravity has to help you!The mileage sucks bigtime if you take it over 60 (mine gives me a crappy mileage of 35!).Stay in the green zone and then you can expect a mileage of 43-44.Hope this helps.........
              Grocery shopping:2010 Honda Dio.
Grocery shopping, in style:2012 Yamaha YZF R-15 Version 2.0

considering your height, I think Access is better suits to you more than Activa. Mileage figures also similar for both the vehicles but you get more pickup and speed in Access@125cc .

I didn't tried Deo and pleasure then no comment on this.

I have used Honda Dio (Father's), Activa (Bhabhi's) and Suzuki Access (Brother's) for long time. Recently, had the pleasure to ride HH Pleasure for short ride. I like Dio the most. I see that it suits to your needs too. Only issue with Dio is its plastic body. Just be careful when you park or you are sure to have scratches.

                    @ Rawpower_87

                    For Looks-Honda Dio.

For Reliability-Both Honda scoots(no idea about HH scoot).

                    For Performance- Suzuki Access.

                    Mileage- Activa_45-48>>Access_42-44>>Dio_35-40.

As you said you would be using for the short run & also would go for some shopping, my recommendation is Suzuki Access. I got good power, torque & better pickup than other scoots. It got good under storage than other scoot which helps you for your shopping needs.

Thanks for the inputs given in guys! I really appreciate it!

Among the lot , the one's I have shortlisted as of now are ,Deo and the Access.
I've ridden the access off-late and very much liked it performance and feel. Also my friend who owns it, reports of getting a mileage of 50(with slow running reduced). It also had a great storage space underneath the seat(could fit my helmet in). The price here(Thrissur,Kerala) was reported to be around 50-54k range,on-road.Deo comes in at 47-50k range.
I haven't made my final choice though. I still very much like the Deo. Will be going to the showrooms and will book either one of them by next week.

I would recommend either the dio or a mahindra rodeo. The rodeo has a much lesser waiting period & has a whole lot of new features.

While the dio is the lightest scoot here which makes it much fuel efficient & agile when compared to the others in its segment.

Consider the TVS Wego as well

As far as I know, Honda Scooters have a long waiting list because of its production constraint.

Why don't you consider the TVS Wego as well? It's got a full metal body and has bigger 12 inch wheels with telescopic front forks (which according to reports give a very good ride).

The TVS Wego has been selling quite decently, so much so that TVS has not even bothered to air TV Commercials for it.

I have read that the Suzuki Access is a good scooter thanks to its 125 cc enigne, but somehow the Wego appeals to me more than the Access on the looks front.

+ to that. Just came back from a 237 kms of Highway fun on a Dio. Phewww, ouchhh my back

PS : Dio did manage to whack a top end of around 95 - 97kmph.

My vote is for the Dio !
