  • Need to clear some queries

    Hello everybody,

I have some queries.. I asked those question in another thread without opening any new thread... As per commented I am putting queries here..
I am looking forward to buy a bike. But to achieve that I need your little help. I have short listed the following bikes
    1. Dazzler
    2. Hunk
    3. FZ16
    4. Apache RTR 160 Hyper Bridge

The question I need to ask:
    1. Can I add a leg guard to FZ16 without modifying anything? It is needed for safety. So please don't tell me that it spoils some looks.
    2. Dazzler has got maintenance free chain others has got that also?
    3. Is the high handle bar problem is rectified in the new version of Hunk?
    4. Has all the bikes got battery indicator? I think it is needed as the machines solely depends on battery?
    5. FZ16 has all plastic body(as well as the fuel tank and muffler), will it create any problem in the long run?
Please give answers for queries separately if possible.

      yes

what do you mean by battery indicator ? Something that shows the level of the battery ? Or the indicators that work directly from the battery without the engine being powered on? If its the former, none of them have it. If its the latter, all of them have it.

        4. Has all the bikes got battery indicator? I think it is needed as the machines solely depends on battery?

Ans. - Yes, i dunno about Hunk, but all other's have battery indicators on them

        5. FZ16 has all plastic body(as well as the fuel tank and muffler), will it create any problem in the long run?

Ans - I personally don't own a FZ, but as per reviews by friends of mine who own FZ/FAZER ...... they are not a problem, they are much of a Concept bought up by Yamaha, imagine, (in case of other bikes except FZ) if bike fall, and tank got dented you have to replace the tank which will cost you not less that 2500 bucks but, here in FZ, you can replace those pannels which will cos you less than a 1000 bucks ......

Ans as per being a TRUE YAMAHA fan, i would definitely go for FZ as it much reliable compared to others (no offense)

Go for honda dazzler, it is feature rich bike including rear disc brake. Also it is a new model.

Battery indicator means level of charge left showing somewhere in the console, like mobile phone.
Heard that FZ has a light that blinks when the battery charge is low is it true?

To me, if you want outright performance get the rtr. then if you want a bike which is easier to live with and is a decent performer get the dazzler. having ridden fz16 as well as dazzler i can firmly say that dazzler is a better buy overall. only problems for me with the bike is the commuterish riding posture due to the forward footpegs and the high haddlebar. but than it is supposed to be a commuter. if you want to save some bucks, go for the hunk. its a heavy, stable bike.To sum it up....
              performance- rtr160
              VFM- dazzler
want to save some money on dazzler, get the hunk.

also test ride all the bikes. after all its you who'll be riding the bike.

P.S when you go to tvs showroom do test ride the 180.

                  Yes

                  2. Dazzler has got maintenance free chain others has got that also?

I think it has open chain, except hunk, every other bike got open chain

                  3. Is the high handle bar problem is rectified in the new version of Hunk?

                  Might be no

                  4. Has all the bikes got battery indicator? I think it is needed as the machines solely depends on battery?

yes, every bike got except hunk, when ever Battery is low, the indicators will show the signal,

                  5. FZ16 has all plastic body(as well as the fuel tank and muffler), will it create any problem in the long run?

not so much, i did touring with friends who own fz, they never complain on this topic!

Lol man..it's Hyper Edge, not bridge!!

Anyway...I think all your queries have been answered already. Out of the list you have formed, I would prefer either the Dazzler or the Hunk. Both wonderful bikes.

Dazzler or Hunk has not got any engine kill switch, it is a much needful thing?

It's my personal opinion that the engine kill switch is not necessary at all. Although, it looks fancy. Some people may not agree with me that's why I have made it very clear that it is my personal opinion (no offense)

engine kill switch is helpful when at stop and go traffic you want to kill the engine for a bit and save on fuel. Not that necessary as mentioned by chmahajan but just that turning on or off the ignition key during such circumstances, it just makes it a tad bit easier having an engine kill switch.

seems that you are whole lot confused.

lets try and make it simpler for you. What are you looking in a bike and what is the budget you can max stretch to??

                            a) if you are looking for a bike with street fighter looks and low end - mid range grunt and awesome cornering capabilities - FZ.. nothing like it. Yes you can buy leg guard separately not just for FZ but for every other bike. The plastic panels on an FZ are in a way boon. Incase you ever crash, and the tank panels are damaged... you can simply replace the plastic parts unlike a metal tank where you would have probably go through new painting and denting process etc. Plus because the plastic parts can be easily replaced.. you can easily change the colour of your bike from say red to black in under 3k... (do check with RTO first before you intend to do anything like this.. )

                            b) IF you are looking for straight line acceleration, decent mileage and engine refinement - Dazzler

                            c) Hunk is a good bike but in comparison to the other two above, i find the engine very rough and unrefined!

                            d) Apache RTR is an absolute blast to ride. but then again engine vibs are too much and please do check after sales & service in your area as it is the only downer for this bike.

Just because the bikes have self start option need not necessarily mean that they will run out of juice in a very short time as rumored!! as long as you maintain the battery water level and keep the +- points clean of sulphur/carbon deposit, none of these bikes would give you any trouble. and unless you have done severe electrical mods (very high wattage lights, huge horns, lighter etc), the lifespan of a standard battery is for around 1.7 - 2+ years.

hope this clears all your doubt!

                            cheers

                              +1 on that bro..

Additionally, the Dazzler has a maintenance free battery which does not need to be topped up. I believe all Honda bikes have it these days. Quite good.
