+1, Bajaj service is neither reliable nor is it consistent.

same here in Ajmer dude ... They sold my Pulsar's original Fuel Tank and sold me the bike with a painted one ... only when I threatened to complain to company, they replaced it!

and service, it sucks .. they hardly do anything on it ... they wash, clean air filter, and give the bike ...

Bajaj can kiss it's Ninja efforts goodbye, if they don't do anything about these service stations - whether Probiking or ordinary ..

Okkkk...!! so, the brand war between Pulsar and hero honda still continues....

Koi sudharne ko tayyar hi nahi hai....!! Why dont ppl get over this already so speculated discussion...... !!

Neways, Montiez congrats for the bike...really good choice...and as already ppl mentioned here the 2 best premium segment bikes(Indian made) are the ZiMA and the P220....so, if you would have gone in for any of these...it wud have been a wise choice..

Both the bikes have their own share of issues/benefits....!!

Like for example, the ZiMA is known for its looks/engine refinement/reliability/etc....where as on the other hand P220 is known for its looks/power/modern technology used/etc...

I don't think that XCD can be called a sports bike....its merely 125 cc street bike...!!

In fact all indian made bikes(except the R15) are street bikes which include even the ZiMA, P220, and even the FZ 16....!!

So, till now only R15 can be considered as a sports bike....!! and if Bajaj is launching a sports/super bike in December '08 then it wud most probably be the Kawa Ninja 250..!!

The update might have been based on some substantial information but the dates are defintely not

One point...never go by meagre cubic centimetre figures...FYI, there used to be a CBR125 also

anyways i guess bajaj has tried to give it a racing bike kinda feel by increasing the power to 11.5BHP which is around 2BHP jump from the present one and lot of change in the luks...after the stunner this may be one of the best looking ones in that segment...

The practices which you mentioned are followed in every service centres. The owners need to be a bit more attentive.Delhi guys have improved after a lot brain storming session.

All the reliability issues are related to electricals and the engine/gearbox is trouble free.

But then if you see the specs of the XCD and compare it to the specs of CBR 125....then you wud come to know the difference....!!

                          An update:

Has hit some bumps during my financing of the bike, but it should be sorted by Monday.

One more thing, I went to check out YZ16 and R15 just to explain to two of my friends who were bugging me why I was going with P220 with these two being in market now. FZ16 does seem to be too plasticky once you are up close. No doubt the design is upto modern euro bikes, cost cutting is too evident as Yamaha have tried to meet the price point. No issues with them doing that, hats off to them to think out of the box in the Indian market and coming up with this bike. But it does not provide the feeling that it's a bike built to last. My friends concurred with this. As with R15, it certainly feels to have more quality but again not workable(imo) in stop-go traffic.

Coming back to P220, it's design is not comparable to FZ16/R15, it cannot be since it's not a track bike. But you do feel it's well made.

My thoughts exactly.I may sound stupid but in my humble opinion the R15 and the FZ16 don't look that well-built,as in,they dont ooze quality for what they are.(this coming from a person who owns a Yamaha Gladiator currently). That fibre body ('plasticky' as you put it)doesn't turn me on.In any case, compare the R15 to the R125 that we have in Europe then we realize how much quality has been lost due to cost cutting.Yamaha isn't at fault here. They are bound to do this.
On the other hand,I believe that there is feeling of quality which is felt while looking at a 'metallic' bike (P220/P200) which is quite different and pleasing.

That's where the P220 starts to win.It appeals to your senses in the same way as the R15 does to your brain.
The P220 is theatrical. It's like an Aston Martin. You know its flawed. You know it's not the fastest. But you also know that the R15 is nothing but a bucketload of science and maths.
The P220 is what that matters.
Heart and soul. And for that reason alone I would buy the P220
