absence of kick start is not that much of a problem.
fz-s looks bulky but it is light handler,
it is tailor made for learners.

The SZ-R is also a good option.

Is it alright to go for a geared bike for first time? if yes plz suggest me a bike.It should be easy to ride, stylish, comfortable, and ok for rough road condition.

          Budget- upto 80,000
          Fuel efficiency- above 40

That doesnt matter...one or the other day you will learn how to ride a bike...but if you want some good average as you would be traveling more then 14 km why dont you go for something that gives you more mileage (like activa, aviator)
Its up to you, because once you start traveling and you wont get mileage you will get irritated..so just go through proper research and check out each pros and cons before coming to any conclusion.

Dude, go and get yourself a fz. FE might be low but it's an awesome bike to ride and best option for learners. Plus nothing could go wrong with yamaha.

autogear scooters dont give the mileage...within a year the claimed mileage will drop...my activa used to give 50-55+ in the first year...it started giving 30 and now its stable at 38-41(even a p220 gives this mileage)

yes the carb tuning was perfectly fine...if u are going to point out to that...

IMO, if you are totally new to biking, go for a used bike within a range of say 10k - 15k INR. Since you will be learning, I guess the bike will take the beating in that case a 15k used bike is beter than a brand new bike). Once you are confident on riding and sure what you want(read fe, looks, power, accelaration etc) you can decide on a bike and go for it. Today we have bikes which cater every needs starting from fe to high speed performance. The decision is all yours

BTW I used a Hero Puch in my college days, was never in biking. Shifted to New Delhi for job. Visited 2008 Auto expo, got mesmerised. A year back got myself a used ZMA. Got into biking - now I prefer my bike over metro train to go somewher. Now planning to upgrade.

Wait for the Pulsar 200NS...Would satisfy all your requirements mentioned above. Mileage expect around 35-45kmpl.

I see someone is increasing it's budget !!! lol.....

                              Nice good !!!

See friend you are new in biking and want the following:

                              1.Looks
                              2.mileage(min 45)
                              3.Maintenance
                              4.Comfort(for pillion also)

why not some 125cc bike or used 150cc ??

It's more likely that you need to learn the art of biking. If you have already did all trial and errors on your friends bike and confident of your riding then go with new else buy a used one before investing 1LRs.

Apart form this: now lets see the options:

FZ-S Or FZ16 Or Stunner PGM Fi ....hmmm very different segments although Stunner and FZ....

                              1.Looks FZ S
2.mileage(min 45) only Stunner would give you 45+kmpl, FZ won't.
3.Maintenance i guess both are same.
4.Comfort(for pillion also) anytime FZ in the two.
SZ R is also a nice bike in term of power with average in good price 66k OTR
But my friend these bikes range from 66k to 84k.

Why not an Unicorn when you are ready for 80k+ budget??
                              Pulsar 135
Hero CBZ/hunk for good mileage and low maintenance.

Choice is yours !! FZ S anytime from the trio !!

you shouldn't go for a bike costing 1L as of now, a good 125cc or 150cc bike will do your job..

don't go for FZ if you are too concerned about FE..
then there are other options in 150cc segments like
                                CBZ-x/Hunk,
                                SZ-R,
                                dazzler..
(ruling out GS150R because of its weight as it won't be a good tool for a learner otherwise its also a nice bike)

in 125cc segment you can buy
stunner, which you already like but don't go for PGM-FI stunner as its not worth in this case..
                                P135..its light,zippy,fast in its segment..
D125ST..have a look at newly launched Discover which is one of the best machine in its segment..
