Hey Shiba calm your mind dude!Originally posted by Shibaprasad View PostHow is Hero Impulse?

First decide which segment you want?? 100cc or 150cc or 200cc
don't hop here and there, as you will get confused.
FZ is not bad bike nor is stunner. But both are different segments.
You are getting confused between 100cc and 150cc. Any day 100cc/125cc would give you better mileage than any 150cc.
impulse is nice off-roader bike, due to you prefer that stunt type, off roader bike?? will you go on off roading?? and surely it will give less mileage than 125cc.
one more thing mileage won't come with speed and power.
Now you decide mileage or power or average of both??
This help us to guide you for your ride. else we will keep telling various bikes, suddenly there will be suggestion for R15/CBR/RE etc.
No offense dude

@somen1984
I just want a very good looking bike with decent mileage and decent power which I use for daily commuting and also for fun. I can spend around 1 lakh (also looking for tubeless tyres)Last edited by Shibaprasad; 05-29-2012, 09:43 PM.

,Have super kool looks
,good power
, mileage of 38(city)-40(city)-45(highways)kmpl
, Fun to ride/ good handling

If I were you, this will be my shortlist (I am seeing 35 as a decent mileage for you in city)Originally posted by Shibaprasad View Post@somen1984

1. FZ or FZ-S or Fazer, Go for the Fazer if you are into fairing
2. Wait for The P200 NS. It promises power and mileage and is said to be the next step in Indian motorcycles.
3. If you cant wait consider the P220 (I always believe get the most power money can buy me) So I am not that inclined towards the Yamaha 150 cc stallionsCBR250R |
Bajaj Pulsar 180 - dts i |
Bajaj CT 100
Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight.
It was not that far on the map.

Friend 35kmpl is decent from your point of view ???
We are in india and petrol prices are rising like population in india.
But even if we think old Rs70/liter then too only 25% of population in india would consider 35kmpl as decent.
Friend 35kmpl means someone you don't care for petrol at all.
These figures are CBR 250/Ninja/ CL500/R15 etc type bike minded people feelings.
TS wants a bike for his daily riding + weekend rides. 35 would be less INMO.
40-45kmpl would be decent as per normal bikes in india.
But still Thread owner would decide what he likes we can only suggest!

from 40-60, good
35- 40 decent
Anyway it changes with people, I know
Also thread starter mentioned >40, I think all the bikes I mentioned can give around 40 and in highways >40. So, if he s ready to exchange some miles he may land a prize with the budget he has

Honestly my opinion

Hi Shiba, Welcome to Xbhp. Its okay that you do not have any biking experience. You will learn this in 5-6 days, but keep your accelerator under control till the time you are very confident about your driving. I would not endorse a gear-less bike or scooter for that matter .Originally posted by Shibaprasad View PostHi,
I am 26 and my height is 5'5.My office is 14km from my home and currently I am using public transport. Now I am thinking of getting a new bike for daily ride to my office but I have no experience in biking (only bicycle
). Is it alright to go for a geared bike for first time? if yes plz suggest me a bike.It should be easy to ride, stylish, comfortable, and ok for rough road condition.
Budget- upto 80,000
Fuel efficiency- above 40
Secondly, given your budget and the fuel efficiency, Hero Honda, Bajaj and Honda provides you a a great variety in the commuter segment. Hero Honda is very trusted name, when it comes to the after sales services, but Bajaj has offered more in terms of cosmetics, into a single bike. The average would be above 55Kmpl for both Bajaj and Hero Honda, considering the way you drive for the first few months (as you are new to Geared bikes).
The best bet would be to go for Honda Shine, or Bajaj Discover DTSI. I would have also said Hero Honda Splender, but its lags behind in terms of looks and other things like Self start, NOX suspension etc.
