  • A Bike for City Life and Weekend Drives

    Hi,

    I am from Hyderabad.
I am looking to buy a bike for my daily office ride and sometimes weekend drives

    Budget: up to 80K
Mileage: atleast 35 kmpl (afraid of more hike in petrol price)
Travel: Daily 30-40 Km (City Roads, Anyone from Hyderabad can have an idea of Hi-tech City traffic). On weekends, probably long drives up to 100-120Km
Looks: Should look modern since I am just 22 :P
    Height: 5'11
    Weight: 60 Kg

    I have shortlisted few bikes
    1. CBZ Extreme - Price for Value and Performance
    2. Yamaha FZ16
    3. Pulsar 200NS (will be out if it crosses 85K)

Somehow Apache RTR doesn't look great to my eyes so I am avoiding it.
People are saying Pulsar existing series getting phased out.

This bike is going to be my bike for at least 5-6years. Except weekends most of the time, I will be riding in City, so don't expect it to cross 100Kmps,and no problem if it can perform

      choose from the hunk,cbz,dazzler trio.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.
      #overkill is underrated.

#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

HH CBZ Extreme and HH Hunk are good options, given your requirements.
I have purchased a Hunk Double Disc last month and it is wonderful.
However, the Xtreme is lighter and thus has a little higher top end than the hunk.

However both bikes offer an excellent stability and handling. No Promblemo!

For very good handling in street and decent performance in the highway you can go for FZ. And you can take it for the weekend rides as well...
Mileage will be 35+ and very good engine, will suit you the best.

            1)

I think the most important aspect of your requirement is that you are going to keep the bike for 5 years!!! In today's Indian Biking scenario, by the end of 5 years your ride will already be ancient. Therefore I feel you should not be even looking at CBZ Xtreme and Hunk cause both these bikes are OLD ALREADY!!! They will not even fetch you peanuts when you try and sell them after 5 years!

            2)

You may not like the RTR but it is a GREAT bike. Doesn't give a very good mileage but any day better than the 35kmpl u stated.

            3)

FZ is good, looks great handles even better, but will suck you dry in the mileage department! you will get a consistent 30kmpl after 2 years mostly.

            4)

Finally, Dazzler. The bike I own and love. You are 22. You are gonna be adventurous! And dont get me wrong, Dazzler is a GREAT bike, looks great, those saber-tooth tank extensions are a killer! gives me a consistent 46-47kmpl mileage even after more than a year and 9000kms, goes fast enough. But, make no mistake, it is a commuter bike. It gives you an uncle type feel and at 22 you are not yet ready for that! You cannot lean it even a little bit since the foot pegs scrape the road! Its great for touring in the sense that the riding position is a blessing for long runs. However you will do a consistent 80kmph while the RTRs and R15s will fly by you at 100. Then you will feel a bit sad, like I do! I know I am gonna be happy when I reach the destination because the RTR & R15 owners would have busted their backs already and would be crying of back pain. But hey, what's a little back pain in return for hours of flying in the wind?

            5)

Wait for the Pulsar 200NS and hope it is in your budget. My advice, wait for Pulsar 200NS and increase your budget. Go for Pulsar 200NS. I am sure you will never regret your decision.

            6)

Finally, coming back to Dazzler. It was released in 2010, so 2 years old already. But a GREAT GREAT bike. So then; Buy a Dazzler. Get it JOEL'ED to a 180cc. Cruise at 100 like the RTR's and R15's, get mileage of 46-47 kmpl like a boss and sleep a good night's sleep as the petrol prices cross Rs100/L in the 5 years that you own your sweet love! That is what I am gonna be doing!

the perfect bike for you = fz16.
good low end torque for easy city riding. looks sexy it looks modern/will look modern for atleast 6years more(its india).
you can ride it like a snail in the traffic, thanks to the wide tires(both) and low center of gravity. its very stable at high speeds too.
Another big thing is its built quality, compare it with other same category bikes(except r15(150cc)) and you'll see.
              go for it buddy

considering the dynamic indian biking scenario, you cannot say that it will turn heads even after 6 years.but sure it will have its own appeal being india's first proper naked street-fighter.
and the question remains why do i race?

Get the FZ if you are happy with the mileage, or best is to wait for the P200NS.

Hi Nitin. I'm from hyderabad and i own a cbz xtreme double disc it is a vfm u get 0 maintaince and you get a mileage b/w 45-55 beleive me i got 55 on highways..choose b/w the hunk and cbz as they have the same refined and smooth engine!

FZ16 is an awesome looking bike its got a little better pick though it is underpowered...mileage is low(u mentioned 35 and yes it delivers 35 kmpl)its great for zip zapping in streets

Finally go with your heart and choose the one which u like

Edit: As u mentioned u r gonna keep it for 5-6 years just go for the Xtreme/hunk based on which looks u like and yes go for the double disc version!!

Can any one have idea os Pulsar 200NS release date?

I keep hearing about it. I am keeping it in list.

Thanks for suggesting Hunk, but I am not happy with it's looks.

Some of my friends suggested to go with dual disc and tubeless tires for such a budget. any idea which bikes are having them?

Btw, I can see many posts talking about back pain problems for Yamaha FZ series.
I don't want it to be trouble one for my height (5'11)

Forgot to say, After 5-6 years, I might end up using it as secondary vehicle.
By the time, family comes up and I have plan for four wheeler by that time.

CBZ xtreme and Hunk both have tubeless tyres and double discs and so does unicorn dazzler, and rtr 180 and all other 200+cc bikes except zma has them

As your saying u r height is 5'11 CBZ xtreme/Hunk ticks all your needs

EDIT: I'm 6 and cbz was a perfect choice and u said your budget is 85k and 200NS is definetly gonna be higher it may be around 1 lakh

since you are gonna keep it for 5-6 years ,go for a new launch like p200ns or rtr 180 abs.
