  • 1st bike : FZ-S or Dazzler

    I am 17 years old(going to be 18), height 5'9, very lean.

    Bike Details :
    1. Should be light weight(as I am lean).
    2. Only for city.
    3. Mileage about 50.
    4. Ride comfort.
    5. Bit of style.
    6. Reliable.
    7. Budget 80k.

    Chosen :
FZ-S - Dream bike, everything perfect, except mileage
Dazzler - a comprise to FZ

FZ is my dream bike but due to mileage issue, I settled for Dazzler.
I am a bit confused about Dazzler:
    1. Thin & Cheap plastic(becomes white)
    2. Digital speedometer is very small.
    3. Loose fitting of parts.
    4. Never seen any Dazzler on road till date.

[Additional : My first post so sorry for any mistakes, don't want performance bikes like Pulsar or Apache]

and the question remains why do i race?

        Hello,

FZ-S is definitely a looker, and Yamaha has upgraded it with new features. Mileage will be 40 - 45, its not a performance oriented bike but a good street bike.

Dazzler on other hand is smooth operator with very bad styling, it looks similar to Twister and not worth the money. Mileage should be 50kmpl. Try GS150 instead , its a good buy.

You can consider FZ16 if you don't want to spend money just on plastics.

Test drive before buying. All the best.

in your criteria there are a LOT of options.. Best fit would be a cbz extreme i think.

I own a fz16. I would say you should choose any other bike as the comfort is a problem on this bike on long route as well as the mileage. I get a mileage of 40 when I checked it last time. But, I was never bothered about the mileage. Though my odo shows only 1500 km

I have booked a RE Classic 500 Chrome and selling my FZ.
              2003 - 2005 - TVS Victor
              2007 - 2011 - Honda Activa
              2010 - 2012 - Yamaha FZ16
              2012 - Present - RE CL 500 Chrome, Indica Vista (2010)

If you choose what your heart says, you'd regret when others talk about the mileage.
If you choose anything else that has mileage, you'd regret everything except the mileage.

                    1. Thin & Cheap plastic(becomes white) - where did you get this? Hearsay? Dazzler has a decent paint, but if without proper care of washing..you might get this
                    2. Digital speedometer is very small. - Speedometer? very small? I think its fine..

                    3. Loose fitting of parts. - what parts?
                    4. Never seen any Dazzler on road till date. - yes, some people thought that this is a modified twister.. . they dont even know that such model exists

in between Fz & Dazzler.... Dazzler is overall better product but if looks are more important then go for Yamaha.

Well, I would choose the FZ over the Dazzler due to the following reasons:

                        1. Better styling

                        2. Has a kick start lever now

                        3. Good handling and road grip due to widest stock tyres available today on any bike of this class

                        4. Premium Yamaha quality

                        5. I am tired of the sick attitude of HASS across multiple cities

The only drawback is the low mileage figures but I guess if properly maintained and ridden sanely, one can get 45 Kmpl on the FZ.
Signals which are timed for 50 Kmph are also timed for 100 Kmph :)

@phat_17 Thanks for the detailed answer.
Just one more thing - will the absence of kick be a problem, especially in winters?
                          Thanks in advance.

absence of kick is not that much of a problem.high-end bikes lack this.
and the question remains why do i race?

If your dream bike is a FZ, then it probably settles the score there.

If you want reasons to why not buy a Dazzler
                              - Honda dealers are anything but customer friendly when it comes to sales\service
                              - FZ has much better handling, and much more closer to big bike styling.

Dazzler however has a better mileage. Like I said before, If your dream bike is a FZ, then you will\have to over look the reasons!
