People tends to tour even on sports bike for example Sunny bhai will be doing a grand indian trip on a Yamaha, ann that baby is as prone to any electrical faliure as any other bike. But it doesnt mean that he should get a kick reto fitted into that. And if you dont like the my Busa Avy comparison, you can change busa with harley or an intruder.Originally posted by Puneet1 View Postdude how can u comapre a busa with a avenger , in indian conditions n on a carb bike a kickstarter makes a lot of sense .who knows when battery might conk out .its a cruiser n for touring where anything can happen in deserted areas . besides many ppl prefer kicking their bike coz 2 them it feels manly

I some how didn't like engine overall coz nothing new in it its the same old P 200 engine. once gain no offence meantOriginally posted by MG_Biker1806 View PostIs that the only reason why you don't like it or there is any other reason because I'm not able to understand the link b/w an absence of kickstarter and not liking a bike.

O.T : Pm me your new number gourab, your old number is with delhi police i presume

Ahh.. Pick the odd one out..Originally posted by BANDHAV View PostBajaj is just trying to provide indian bikers with something on the line of International Bikes.
And they were thinking the same thought what Honda might have had while not fitting Blades with kick , what Suzuki might have thought of while not fitting Busa & GSXRs with kick and so on.
@prakash:what do you mean by hard to find?
Avenger, Karizma, Pulsar 220, RTR
Avenger right?
It's a cruiser, you do realize that?
And whatever Bajaj is trying it's clearly not working that well for them, first the P220, and then the Avenger 200

The point is that you've mentioned all super bikes and hyper sport bikesOriginally posted by BANDHAV View PostI failed to understand what point you have tried to make, i hop you wont mind elobrating a bit.
and Avenger sir is a cruiser, if you really want to put some weight to your arguement atleast list some cruiser bikes like HDs and Triumphs.
And, if you still fail to understand, then I'm really sorry, for having tried twice.
Don't get me wrong, I just mean that you dont see a lot of Avy 200s and Pulsar 220s on the road, as compared to their siblings. Clearly they have not garnered the same success as Avy 180 and Pulsar 200/180/150 resp.Originally posted by satyenpoojary View Post

I just used the examples of few international bikes irrspective of their styles and categories, and if some low witted guy fail to understand they i cant help it out.
And far as success of particular model is concerned its really not gauged by how many you have spotted on the road.

I'd definitely recommend the thread starter to get his hands on the Avenger 180. If properly maintained and ridden at proper speeds, it's a wonderful bike. The last I checked my bike gave an average of 48.8 kilometers per litre of petrol without additive. And it's a very smooth engine. Upshift and downshift at proper rpms and you won't even feel the slightest jerk.
On the audio subject, the subtle thump from the exhaust is very satisfying at a particular revolutions per minute number. I especially like to ride close to the concrete dividers. The echo of the thump is just awesome!
The comfort is, well, better than most bikes. But if you are a tall guy, it might get to your back IF you carry some sort of backpack or specifically gym bags and such with only one belt. Cramster touring bags suit it much better.
About the disc brake - the front wheel skids immediately, the handle swerves to the left and you are on the ground in the fraction of a second. A dual disc brake and/or a rear disc brake in the mods is for sure if the budget fits. Be very careful on gravel and traffic. In general Hard braking with the front wheel is suicide, and contrary to what the manual from Bajaj quotes, for hard braking concentrate on the rear brake as far as possible with moderate pressure on the front, even if that means quicker drum disintegration. A friend experiences the same problem with his Enfield. The difference is that his bike's wheel skids to the right because the disc is on the other side as compared to Avenger's.
If you want to know more about the riding experience feel free to ask away.

I loved my Avenger, but then I started getting bored of it, and the A200 was hardly an upgrade ...
Just one tip for every one complaining about the breaking on Avenger,
Please remember, The Break paddle is not the Gas paddle... its not that if you press hard it will stop harder.. I mean the breaks in any bike, (especially Avenger because of its weight spread) have to be used properly for effective stopping!
Two of the most common techniques...
When In high speed, Use Front, then rear in a sequence like FRFRFFF, I am not saying that this is the perfect code but just suggesting to alternatively use both the breaks...
Add in a down gear and you will be even better.... something like FRFDRFFF
When In Mud, sand, gravel.... Avoid slamming the Front, Avoid slamming the rear as well, or you would end up doing a very neat skid
Downgear, then use the rear brake!Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more
