Almost 1 year now, I have been dreaming to get on to cruise mode and yes, many are true still no 220cc Avenger, I thought by this time it would be 250cc. But I think they dont have much on plate for Avenger. Still pondering on same lines, there is burning desire, its just that its yet to materialize.

Avenger and DSLRS are two things that has been itching me, but i am yet to put my hands on to rub arround. Just two things and it will push be back by 1.10 - 1.25L ...Damm even inflation is -1.61% yet things are still costly.

Heehe...People don't lower their product prices just because the fuel cost went down (which is gonna go up any moment now). Why would they lose out on the margin? That's the general mentality. The wise businessman though, knows better.

On topic though, minor issues apart, Avenger is a very nice buy for comfort and average mileage. But if you want more Cubic C, then sorry friend, 180 and 200 are all that are available. Curse the authorities for not legalising engine mods, I would have two 200s or 180 engines plonked into mine if I could. Hell four of them for good measure!

Though initally I was suppose to buy Eliminator, but Pulsar 180 was what i opted for in 2001. Now thinking of going for Avenger and enjoy the low seat cruiser kind of ride.

            1. What do you say, is it a good machine to go for?
            2. Is is it line with orignal Eliminator, Parts and performance?
            3. Any updates on Avenger 2009 ? I hear 220cc DTSI - FI engine on it?
            4. Any discounts or offers? OTR is 75K

All you inputs, experiences and comments are most welcome.

            Avenger is a lovely machine
Shares the same pulsar 200 mill

Eliminator was an altogether a different engine (which was imported as a CBU from Kawasaki)

Try to go for a new bike...!
            2002 - Pulsar 150 Classic (Still owned)
            2005 - Pulsar 150 Dtsi (Still owned)
            2006 - Eterno (sold)
            2008 - Dio (Owned)
            2009 - Pulsar 220 DTSi

IMO If you are the cruiser type, then go for it eyes closed! I would always prefer the Avenger over a Bullet (which comes with various niggling issues). The extra 150cc mill of the Bullet will not give you even 15kmph top speed excess. Pulling capability okay agreed. But are you buying this bike to take to the hills? Hope you are satisfied with 115kmph topspeed. I have no idea about your riding style, which is why I stated if you are the cruiser type.
Anyways, no rumors also of any upgrade, so with the finance deals, this would be the right time to go in for it. You cannot compare it to the Eliminator. I rode both&I can guarantee you the feel of the Eliminator was much better, maybe because it was a Kawa.
What suits you is subjective, it is the way you carry it off. Get the Avy200, put some saddlebags on, get the high windshield accessory&you are ready to tour!

The original Eliminator was a beaut of an engine. Sooooper is what I call it!

The new oil cooled 200cc DTSi engine is alot harsher comparatively to that, but has more power and torque figures. And nothing beats the feel of a new bike.

I have done a triple on an AVENGER nd it was not crossing 85 where my i have done 95+ on Pulsar with 2 pillions, a cruiser always needs more torque than sports bike which the avenger doesn't have

Also if u want a quick ride then u have to rev avenger more that other bikes I drove my frnds Avenger 180 and will going up the hill it was not able to go in 3rd gear(it has run 20K)

So better be sure before buying an avenger

If u want a cool ride and speed is not an issue then go for it and enjoy the Horizon rather than chasing the Horizon

Visited local Bajaj Dealer for Avenger.
Sales department was pathetic, they treated me like I am there for platina, sales man came up to me that after someone at desk yelled, and he rushed into me with price and how i can have loan on that, didnt bother to talk about bike, its features etc etc.

I asked for test ride, bang "No test ride !!" I said what the hell (##@@)^1000
Rushed out of dealer, will visit the second dealer on monday.

Only thing that interested me from his words was that Avenger 220 carb / FI will be there in a month or two, plus there will some accessories coming up for sell too. I didn't take his words, but will discuss on this with pro biking manager at second dealer.

@sarvajit: I have been more of sports rider, with good control, high speed, low on curves and have been riding Pulsar 180cc classic from last 8 years. Engine braking are my breaks generally, followed by front disk brakes, thats why the break linners where replaced only once till now. Never been a rash rider, but yes avg speed has been 70 - 80km in city generally and touched over 100Km many times, very much in controlled manner with calculated speed limits. I dont need to look at speedometer to check speeds, 6th sense helps me -- probably that would give you some clue about my riding style.

I have not been on cruise mode, but Leh on cruiser is what i am planning on and nothing better than Avenger comes to my mind.

Sounds good-Leh on the Avy! Ask Bandhav/Probiking if there is any new Avy coming out, though I doubt it.
However, I would say if you are sacrificing something just for this ride (one ride vs.a lifetime of city riding), any other bike will also do Leh-Amit has done it on his R15.

I already have pulsar 180cc classic and its going to be there for few more years i guess, Avenger would be a second bike for me for long tours. In city I would be using pulsar 180 cc majorly.

Bike rides has gone down now to less than 500km per month been more on cars these days
Use to travel 500km on a single day, this shows how life changes, yet i am very much fond of riding, so take it out generally daily for 5 - 10kms of 'joy' ride daily once i am back from office.

Close family members generally calls this as "My Date"

Finally Avenger is decided as there is no other option.
I am booking the same in Navratri, I wish bajaj comes up with much needed update to Avenger by then. (Dts-fI, or atleast 220cc)

I am also looking to modify it to make a single seater with wide 140 or 150 tyre. Any suggestions on these line.

Also suggest me on colors, here is my listing

                          1. Black
                          2. Silver
                          3. Any other

@asasinationsinc: Nopes, somehow I dont like the looks of ThunderBird, to me its more like tall horse. But otherwise I like it for its performance. In 1998-2000, I had Enfield Lighting 535cc, you can call it forefather of current Thunderbird

Its the looks and style of avenger thats making go towards it, if given an opportunity i would like to put in 500cc+ engine on avenger. I am planning to make it single seater and then crusie all arround
