If you have the budget, go get the 200NS. You wont get bored too soon down the line due to the lack of power (which will happen in the case of 100/125cc).

Ifit helps you, I had a Hero Puch 2G when I was graduating, got myself a pre-owned ZMA last year( due to financial crisis) and got my self a CBR250 a month back. Any bike (unless its a sbk) will obey you. If you are sceptical about the respomsive P200NS has, be easy on it for the first few days of the ownership. Start exploring her once you become comfortable with her and all is well. Atleast this happened to me with my ZMA. Buying a 125cc to upgrade to a higher one within short span is merely wastage of money.

Best of luck for your buy.

I can relate with your frustration and disappointment. I had to wait 3 months before parents decided the 'perfect' date for buying my first bike too.
I am in 3rd year too ( BCOM) and I used to ride Kinetic Nova(instead of your Activa ) for 3+ years. As a matter of fact, I learned how to ride on my first bike as well (lot of common stuff, right )

I went with Pulsar 150. My parents were first deciding to buy me P135, but I didn't like the looks of it, and after lot of convincing, they let me buy P150.
So, long story short- if you dont get to buy 200ns, tell them about 150cc range- you'll be happy too(I can assure you to a certain extent) and your parents will be pretty much okay with it.

A little more advice(the one I dream about myself )- since you will start working soon, you could save for a couple of years and buy a higher CC bike yourself. Till then, a 150cc would be perfect- mileage, looks, first bike...aur kya chahiye?

seems a lot of people faced the same kind of dilemma when buying their first bike...

well my time on confusion is over....

after a lot of thinking and consulting people and listening to my heart i booked the PULSAR 200NS(blue)...

to hell with the little petrol i'll use more in the bike compared to the discover....i'll consider it as a premium paid to enjoy a bigger ride and get stares at traffic signals and the best part when people ask "Iska silencer kidhar hai?" :P

waiting for the delivery eagerly now...hope my activa doesnt feel bad seeing her "sautan" parked right beside it

            mods can close the thread...

                    haha

                    thanks guys...

well yes apache 180 ABS is as good for the safety feature but i am not an apache fan....and the new series design doesnt look good...i could get the older design by special order(i guess tvs has started this) but NS is NS....nothing seemed better than NS under 1 lakh and booked it right away....

Go for the 200NS if you got the money. Its an ideal bike, just in place between the lower end ones and higher end big machines. Its complete VFM. And don't think that beginners should only begin with 125cc bikes, even I'm a beginner, but I'll be opting for a Duke 200 or CBR 250. Infact, a 200 or 250 CC is the perfect machine for a beginner (In developed countries, 250 CC bikes belong to the Light-weight Beginner category). The only reason people in countries like India don't go for a 250 or 200 CC for a beginner is due to the price restraints. Also if you buy a 125 cc bike, you won't be riding it forever. You will want to sell it and get a new bike again sooner than you would with a 200 or 250 CC bike.

Edit: Just now realised that you have bought the 200 NS. Anyway, congrats on your new bike. Happy and safe Riding
