Hi,
I got my CBR250-ABS purely for highway rides and have been sticking to it for almost 9 months. But, circumstances, u know..had to start using it for daily commutes to office, in peak traffic.
I am telling you, this bike is not for traffic rides..as others promptly pointed out, you will enjoy it on the highway. If you look at the reasons, I would say weight, bit of engine heating, not as flickable as my RTR etc., But if you say that traffic is not that bad in your city and if you are craaaazily in love with CBR, go for it. Mileage wise, I used to get around 36kmpl on the highway - I dont even bother to check now.
I think RTR180, and Dazzler are good choices for you, considering you are ruling out KTM and 200NS.

Current CBR 150 and R15 has some good mid range torque compare to previous R15 V1.Originally posted by StylishKiller View PostThose are common in duke, cbr, r15 I guess ???
250
CBR 250 has little bad handling and braking as compare to R15. But if you ride it like a ST then no issues, The issues comes only when you try to ride it like R15, Cornering, Zic ZAg, etc.
CBR's OE tyres are also not that good as mentioned by owners.

if you LOVE CBR then go for it.. there is a saying different people different take.. so take test ride of every bike you have and haven't shortlisted as you would be investing loads of money and without proper research that money might go the drains....OPINIONS ARE LIKE HEADACHES EVERYONE HAS ONE....
THE KID used to burn rubber with blood.. now he does it with Petrol...
Roads are filled with idiots, so don't become one!!!!

Too young for a cruiser huh!
Hey, I think for your height either a CBR or a Pulsar 220 or ZMR (except tail lamp) is good. I have a duke which does great in almost everything except for carrying a heavy pillion :P. But I would suggest you with a CB 250 R ABS, the one you like and also who know after getting such a bike, you may become a highway tourer. I had the same dilemma but I chose duke because of the sound it makes and the naked looks. choose it with your heart and you'll have fun for sure. Even if you get a mileage of 20 kmpl, it wont bother you. So follow your heart bro. CBR 250 it is. And as some one mentioned about heat, all the powerful bike produces a lot of heat in traffic and the duke makes it worse by having a naked body putting the heat directly on to you. But who cares when you like.Originally posted by StylishKiller View PostNo Cruiser this time.
Take a good wise decision of following your heart and then stop thinking and start having fun.
and also drive safe.

A little late to the discussion, but here is my take. Read further only if you have not already purchased your bike.
For a student, a two lakh budget for a motorcycle is I think too much. That too, a student studying CA. Are n't they teaching depreciation and value for money in the school? Jokes apart, is your budget heavy due to your general affordability or your need to stand out from the crowd.
You had explicitly mentioned this bike would be for city riding. I did not visit Jaipur, so I do not know the road conditions and traffic there, but generally, city riding is not best suited for performance oriented bikes. They are generally heavy, unmaneuverable and/or uncomfortable in every day traffic and there is no fun riding them. Also, at a mileage of 30, they are uneconomical too. As reminder, you may easily get around 60 consistently with the reasonable bikes in lower segments.
Have you already made up your mind about performance (200 + CC) bikes? Or is there a scope for a reconsideration? There is plenty of choices as mentioned by some already on this thread if you are willing to reconsider. You will have saved some money for yourself too.
Finally, a word about power. Nothing compares with the ninjas no mater how hard they try. Have you thought about owning one cause I think that's what you want. I know you have mentioned a cap on your budget, but what I understand is that you can work a little harder and save a little more for that dream of yours.
I know this is a large post and I still have not learnt how to communicate with less sentences. I think I would blame my english teacher for this, she was such a conversationalist in the class.
Also, I can't figure out why this thread is rated 5 stars.CB Twister Yellow

. But, the point here on depreciation makes great sense and hopefully TS has understood it. Not just here, but in many threads 'Somen' has explained why would you be wasting money on buying a bike which you will not be using it fully. +1 to those as well
. 2lacs is lot of money, if you spend it on something you should be using it for the fullest of its value. Good luck.
Its crime to ride a car alone, so I ride bike :).

Agree with somen, I have a CBR 150R. Usage is 70% city, 30% highway. Very good bike, with great flickability due to light weight & short wheel base compared to CBR 250R. Also, on the low end torque, if we properly slot the gears, you won't feel the lag in torque. Engine is a gem, silent, excellent power and good FE as well. Also, tyres are MRF's zapper Q, nice and sticky.Originally posted by somen1984 View PostCurrent CBR 150 and R15 has some good mid range torque compare to previous R15 V1.

Handling, weight, tyres are some of the reasons i chose cbr 150r above cbr 250r. No doubt, CBR 250R is one of the best tourers and VFM for the power it gives. In my opinion, I felt CBR 150R is much more proportioned bike compared to CBR 250r with each of them have their own purposes.Riding 17.6 horses out of which 5 horses work in the city and other 12+ horses wake up after 6k rpm and run after 8k rpm

i think the best bike which suites you is pulsar 200ns because it has got great handling and power and also suited for tall guys like you
second best is honda cbr150r or fz16/fazer or pulsar 220
r15,apache rtr 180 and duke will not be comfortable for you since you are 6feet
karizma zmr and honda cbr250r is meant for long trips on highways.

.............. I'll be spending 150,000 on purchasing a bike, So a little "please please" can increase the budget to 2,00,000 INR.
I think the price tag of Rs.2,00,000 has restricted your choice and not any purposeful feedback is coming in your favour. Although some very good suggestions have come up for bikes in the range of +/- Rs. 100,000 since you would be mostly commuting in city zone. Do you want to spend Rs. 200,000 for a city bike just as a Status symbol ?
