  • Should i go for 200 NS or not?

    Hello all,
Im looking to get a new bike, for which i shortlisted the pulsar 200Ns and an used pulsar 220F!
    Need ur views and suggestions!
I owned Yamaha-RX-100, Bajaj Xcd 125, Bajaj Pulsar 135LS previously!
I fixed up my mind for the new pulsar 200NS,
But lately i heard people complaining about 200 Ns , so thought of asking up you guys!
Please help me out with some the mentioned points!:
    • is there any issue of the rear Tyre skidding with the new pulsar 200 Ns?
    • How is the torque? many guys saying that its even less torquier than r15, it has no raw power!!
    • what is the Fuel efficiency?
    • what is the footpeg stance like? commuterish like the pulsar 135?, sporty like 220 ...r15? or an intermediate like cbr???
    • n lastly , ive had a bad past abt the bajaj carbeurators, they dont seem to work properly for long, either they screw up the fuel efficiency or the power ?? So i am in much dillema over this UCD 33 Carb of the 200 NS?

    Thanks in advance!!!

as of now P200NS feels better than any other Bajaj's product & apart from few small niggles(which even companies like Honda or Yamaha can face with their first lot),this bike gives better value for your money..i rode it only for few mins so can't answer all your queries but everything felt nice apart from its turning radius,be it its acceleration or build quality..

I`ll try answering your questions based on my experience with the 200NS over the past 3 months and 5500kms
        - Tyres, perfectly fine for city and highway riding. If you feel they lack grip, you can always upgrade them.
        - Torque is on the low side but I have not felt the bike lagging in city riding (4-5th gear, 50-60kmph, with pillion). Keep the revs above 7000rpm and the NS is a totally different beast
        - My FE hovers between 42 (sane highway driving) and 38 (aggressive city driving). Others in the ownership thread claim between 30 to 50
        - Footpeg stance, take a test drive and decide for your self
        - Carb probs, cant comment as of now

And yes, as mentioned, the turning radius is quite large. Test it out during the TD.

Can you wait for a little while ? In the Motorcycle Ownership Thread : NS 200 Pulsar, I read a post dated 14.10.2012 that the silencer being fitted quite low, hits the speed breakers while driving with a pillon. There are also some other problems cropping up. May be Bajaj will do some modifications in near future !!!

2013 is round the corner. You might get some good options in near future!!!!!!

I think most of your answers lies in doing TD, it will clear your all doubts!!

And NS200 is far better then previous Pulsar series !! BTW why are you comparing 150cc with 200cc ?? R15 is way different then NS200 or P220.

Frankly speaking any person who is a die hard fan of Yamaha or sports bike lover would only buy R15 due to it's tall rear seats and low power as compare to other bikes in market!!

Don't why but i feel your budget is around 1L ?? If no then go with Duke!!

Well, It will finally come down on how much are you willing to spend. Currently own the P135LS myself.. Have plans to upgrade soon too.
If u don't have any issues with your budget, I can suggest you to wait for the new Ninja 250R. Amazement it really is. With ABS opt.
                CBR 250R ain't bad either.
But if it's not a touring types/sporty types you are looking at, then Might I suggest The Duke. Blown many many minds & still counting..
But then again, like I'd said before, comes down to the budget.
With only about or around a Lakh's budget, I feel 200NS is the best. Better in as many aspects as you may wish it to be. Worthy companion being on Indian roads.

                  Hmmmm...what??
First part is right, a diehard yammie fan will only buy r15.
Since when tall seats and LOW POWER became an attraction ?

                    errr.....

I meant the issue now is, it's tall rear seat and low power as compare to other bikes in market!! Then too people you love Yamaha or Sports riding position they buy it.

R15 has all superb engineering, handling, braking, stability, cornering ..etc...Sometime i feel why to take a pillion on sports bike ?? I don't think a person would enjoy that, though it's personal choice, i don't take pillion ...

He is only asking for P200ns... yes or no. As per his criteria.

Well Nirban885, take a test drive and it should feel like love at first sight.
Listen to only your heart and nobody else.

P200NS is going to be a very good bike, i can say that based on my previous Bajaj experience.
Go for it, but its a big and a little heavy if you don't have problem manuvering it in city... go buy it.

and you will enjoy it on highways...
                      p200ns is cool

If you plan to keep your budgets low and want more power you can go for 220F else if you want similar styling of 200ns with better power and build quality DUKE would be the best choice to make. If you want faired ones with performance with unlimited budget and unmatched performance Ninja 300 is on the way.

Well if the budget is unlimited then why stop with Ninja 300, why not Ducati Multistrada or some other exotic. Let's just answer the query by TS, shall we? since he talked about going for 200NS or not, let's just say that his budget is limited to that and respond to him on that!

                              1. Tires are pretty good, no issues of skidding or anything like that.
                              2. Yes, torque is somewhat on the lower side, but if you keep the revs up its pretty good.
                              3. 35~40ish
                              4. You'll have to test drive the bike to see that for yourself.
                              5. Its too early to decide on such issues. You might have to wait to check on these. In my opinion though, I think the 200NS is the best product of Bajaj until now, so it shouldn't be giving much problems.

and between 200NS and 220F, go for the NS, its much better.
