KTM Duke 200 - stands on all your criteria.
    R15 V2 - Stands for your height
CBR 150 - if you have money and pissed of with R15 looks and ktm style opt for it, but remember you cant get its big brother by spending few more bugs!

And thats precisely what I was hinting, good one out there.

No doubt the R15 is the best one compared to riding and quality but you at 6.3feet weighing around 80odd kgs wont make justice to the ride. Expect huge backaches, I have joined a gym because this bike demands fitness. Im dot 6feet, thats 180cms, and I weight 95kgs, boy oh boy its big difficult though I wish to reduce in near future.

On the other hand going for the 200 makes sense because it has got that punchy acceleration and for your height and weight it would be perfect.

Quoted by Alliwanted that couple of more thousands you would get the 250r does make sense, since you do not wish to go for that its useless to settle for the CBR 150R.

Handling is awesome so doing zip zap is actually FUN
Riding on highway/twisty ghats...that's the best part...I've clocked 147 kmph top speed, in our riding group everyone with R15(V2)has crossed 145 kmph( but obviously with crouching), But attaining 135 kmph is butter smooth.

not a problem. touches 135 easily. I've personally clocked in 148kmph and I know quite a few guys who have clocked similar speeds.

Bro 148 and 147 kmph are really awesome speed!! Good that R15 does this speed. But mine never goes over 132kmph. And even it's not butter smooth to reach 135kmph.

Mine does easily 122kmph after that it starts a race to reach 130 and last 132kmph. Mine is V1. Sure there would be some better changes in V2.
And even V1 is not at all super flickable in city, does the changed rear swing arms and small design change in V2 made it super flickable ?

But still i feel Duke is better over R15 but at speed of 147-148kmph fairing R15 will be more better in stability.

          hi
I want to buy a new bike. my daily commute to my college and back home is around 52 kms . need a comfortable and safe ride . my budget is 1.65 lakhs. the choices ive round up are honda cbr 150r , cbr 250r and ktm duke 200. i've taken test ride of both the cbr's and dnt have a lot of knowledge abt the duke. i basically like the cbr 250r most bcz of its looks ,comfort etc. so help me choose a comfortable highway friendly bike . if ive missed out on any good bike within my range inform me abt that too.

All the three bikes can reach 130 kmph. According to top speed Duke > Cbr150 > R15 but cbr and r15 have better high-speed stability on highways. Duke won't offer 30 kmpl always. R15 has the best refinement among the three and its quicker than CBR 150 below 80 kmph. Cbr has slightly better top end. For ur height R15 is not comfortable. Consider the duke. Top speed: Duke- 142, cbr150- 138, r15- 133 kmph

              Loose some weight somen!!

Sorry just kidding... don't take it personally! jokes apart, top speed depends on a number of factors:

              1) Rider Weight.
              2) Ambient Temperature.
              3) Road Elevation, surface grip.
              4) Motorcycle net weight with fuel.
              5) Motorcycle's heart/engine's condition.
              6) Tire's grip whether the rubber is still soft or has become hard after aging and usage regardless of kms covered. etc.

My FZ on speedo with my earlier weight used to do 115-117 kmph but with now my feather weight (which i am desperately trying to get rid of!!) it only hits 108 kmph max!! But then again the tires are more or less due for replacement, fuel tank needs an overhaul cleaning and other factors as well which has reduced overall speed of my ride..

Anyways, personally R15 is a better bet if the rider likes to have fun on the corners as i rate it above even Ninja. CBR 150 a good tourer and nimble handling but still cannot match the cornering abilities of an R15. Yes straight line acceleration is a complete different story.. but unless you like to do only drag races or else want straight line fun then its a different story.

              Cheers,

According to your expectations Duke is Very good option for you, but if ur a speedfreak then i would suggest you to go for a R15 since it is butter smooth, superb flickable in city , yes duke can go ahead since it has got more power but on the higways duke can never mess with R15. R15 v2 has got the linear power delivery than the V1, so i would suggest you got a R15 v2.00

My current(as I had many previous choices also) are

                  1. CBR 150r
                  2. R15 2.0(hate the pillion seat.. my girl friend hates it)
                  3. Fazer
                  4. Duke 200(although price has increased considerably).

I am buying this bike mainly for my personal use.. may use it for office afterwards. (Main reason is enjoyment and the feeling i get while riding a bike) U can clearly say for pleasure purpose i am planning to buy this bike..

didnt include CBR 250 as its too heavy and quite tall for me(i guess)
                  5. royal enfield classic chrome 350 or 500 ..its heavy but quite short or ok for me.

please suggest me a good bike (apart from my choice also )which will suit my personality and the enjoyement.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

From the above lot you have one with good handling and brakes with fun to ride in city i.e Frazer (cheapest in above lot). And duke the expensive one from above.

Duke is for those who are targetting it for city use mainly. But the fun of > rpms which we can see in R15 or CBR is not there in Duke. Duke goes quickly to high ends and then you lack the power or more kmph to it. Where as R15 or CBR gradually leads to higher rpms with fun to highway.

If you can convince then, a GF with R15 will suit the most, GF looks hot on hot bikes. GF and R15 is a deadly combination.

Other hand CBR is good for any pillion(parents too). But lacks some features mainly used pass light and kill switch, but you can live without it too. It's more comfortable then R15.

Does this means you are planning for weekend rides?? or for daily ?? If daily purpose R15 is not good due to it's agressive position, CBR is more practical in terms of Daily use.

Bro, RE is very different from the choices you presented above. RE is for those you don't care for world and ride in own rules and line. You can't race or zip zap or corner with RE, RE will give you the best comfort than above bikes. Good family bike.. etc.

Future launches are only bribes, no one can predict when will it be launched! SO get something and enjoy it.

BTW what are your needs specifically ?? Are you planning to board family members too ? mileage ...maintenance etc tell us about this and we can figure out the best one for you.

@Roll: As you are a student, the best would be GS150r/Unicorn Dazzler/ P150...These bikes are proven highwayy bikes with good mileage.
CBR /Duke /CBR250 are for those who can fill it daily. 52kms is not a small distance. And petrol prices are hiking like mad Bull...

If you can go then go for CBR 250ABS you get the safety of ABS with power and comfort. If you can't then no use going with CBR 150 or Duke for daily purpose..it will drink fuel daily!!

I am 5.5 and weigh around 75 kgs. I had the exact choices. R15 v2 was my first choice. Finally got cbr 150r and enjoying every bit of that machine. If you are not a cornering freak, cbr150r is r15v2 with usable pillion seat. Also, you should not mind the switch gears in cbr150r because they have got the bare minimum working ones. I was more keen on comfort, drivability and reliability than on switch gears.

Better to test drive the choices couple of times before finalizing.

@ somen have read most ur posts on other posts also so Thank u bro for the share.. Mostly will be using it on daily purposes(30- 40 kms or even more) and weekend tours are also on the cards.. so mileage around 30- 35 will be good or even more....

it will be my 1st bike so will maintain it quite well regardless of the costs..
and 1 question to u bro.. does the height factor matters..
as i said earlier i am still an amateur .. and the height factors still haunts me..(am asking this bcoz i sat on the cbr 150 today ,, but was only tip-toeing it )

My usage is 35 Kms per day. For your height question, I don't see an issue with that in cbr150r. During test drive, do a small stretch of slow biking and how comfortable you are able to balance in traffic conditions. In highway, it's a pocket rocket.

                              Pros:
                              looks and light weight
                              highway performance
i don't see an issue with city performance also but some people have mixed opinions.
                              high speed stability
                              very good brakes
                              decent sticky tyres.
                              very slick gear box
                              easy maneuverability in city traffic
                              powerful headlamps
                              Usable pillion seat

                              cons:

slightly lower torque making you an engaged rider

R15 is strickly no with in a city limit, Your hands will curse and it's not so good in traffic(R15/CBR). As we are owing it so we have to use it in city, but when ever i get a chance i use my old 110cc bike for city, that is more comfortable than R15. Handling wise R15 and CBR are same in city, both needs more space then any normal commuter to move around in traffic.
If it's total highway ride then R15 and CBR both are good.
CBR lacks few switches, but one can adjust with out it too.
Pillion comfort in R15 is NIL, CBR has the good pillion seat and comfort.
If your family too would be boarding with you on bike then PLZ don't go for R15.

Comfort while riding is something depends on person to person. But CBR is more comfortable then R15 on long tours say one shot 250Kms + ride.

and 1 question to u bro.. does the height factor matters..
as i said earlier i am still an amateur .. and the height factors still haunts me..(am asking this bcoz i sat on the cbr 150 today ,, but was only tip-toeing it )
Maintenance is something how you would like your bike to be. There are people who service in every 3 months/3k kms(which ever is earlier) which is a routine of Yamaha service. And there are people who Service their bikes at 3k kms only whether it's more than 3 months or what ever.

You will get a better idea about service and maintenance by visiting the SVC or asking question in ownership threads for respective bikes.

I am 5.5 ft riding R15/CBR/Duke/RE. I never felt that my height is not sufficient for rides. So neither be yours. Tip Toe touch won't matter.

As you are new which ever bike you buy please control your rist! With in 2-3 months of riding your bike you will know in and out of your bike's behaviour, later on you can use it in any manner.

R15/CBR/Duke all will give you 35kmpl+. CBR gives more better average as compare to R15.

See your needs rather than looks !!

These three bikes comes with modern tech and features (durability and reliability is good)! Just choose the right bike. TR the bikes more than once and for some good kms i.e 5kms atleast(you can as this is a 1L+ bikes)
