    @TS - Both R15 V2 and CBR 150R are potent machines.

My first choice was R15 v2.0, but due to pillion seat and relatively aggressive seating posting, I chose CBR 150R (Orange). I don't repent it at all.

CBR 150r is a very good machine and I am very happy with it. I drive daily to work and have done 2500+ kms till now.

As Divya Sharan said, sometimes you might have to search something called Torque. So, what I have learnt is that you have to be on lower gears (1,2 or 3) with slightly higher RPM. If you are ok with that, it's a great machine. It is very easy to maneuver within the city. On the other hand, in a highway or a open road, it a fantastic machine to drive.

In essence, it's an all rounder which serves as a sport bike, daily commuting and touring also.

Finalize based your requirements and TD'ing both adequately.

      Re: Choosing my first bike

Bro for looks and show off just close your eyes pick the r15, its built to show off
Btw do you need better seat then r15 for picking up girls, its the best.. everyone will be drolling over the bike and the girl because of the elevation....cbr no way one should be a die hard Honda fan to consider cbr over r15( not considering the pillion) btw do wear a branded helmet then people will droll even more.. and a girl can make out the diff between cbr 150 and fireblade unlike r15 and R1

Your choice of bikes is good. But before suggesting it, I would like to advise you to learn to respect every bike and biker. Just because you can afford a powerful bike ocer 1 lakh doesn't makes oher bikes crap. Everybike is made for a purpose. And in India, bike is used as a daily commute vehicle for the middle class and below. If yo give respect, you will get respect and vice-versa.

Now jumping onto your question. Below are my opinions :

R15 - The best " affordable " track machine available in the country. But there are some glitches, the forward lean position would make it difficult for touring. The higher pillion seat would make it difficult for the pillion irrespective of it is a boy or a girl. Looks are undoubtedly great and Yamaha is kown for the powermachines.

CBR150 - It was launched as a competetion to R15. It is a high revving track tool. Can't comment on its flickability as have never rode it. Poor plastic quality and over priced. Pillion seat is more comfy than R15.

CBR250 - The best touring bike after Karizma. Got ample of power and torque which is good in city and stable at high speeds which makes it a breeze on highways. Comfortable pillion seat, looks good. Though the ABS version is almost 60k expensive, you can look into std version, its just 30k epensive than 150R.

Rest is all your decision. But before getting any bike get a valid driving license, wear a helmet everytime, and do invest in riding gears. They can be life-saver sometimes. Best of luck with your buy.

Admitted that R15 v2.0 looks really good... And has nice LED lights... but still its rear is skinny..
I mean look at the rear of other bikes... of CBR 150R or of the R15 version 1.. and you can make out that its skinny & sharp..
And yes i would wear good helmet, a biker's jacket & would ride safe!

R15 v2.0 is really good.. except the skinny & sharp rear..
And yeah its that its more popular among girls rather than CBR 150R..
And of course i would wear protection while riding

yeah.. CBR 150R is a jack of all trades.. it looks really cool..
Don't know why... but i have a smooth corner for this bike.. i like it little more than R15..
Surely i would list out my requirements & would TD them both..
Its going to be one hell of a decision!

hehehe... i liked the idea of using its elevation to make people drool even more..
But it seems like i'm turning out to be a die hard fan of Honda.. coz CBR 150R really boggles my mind!
And done, Branded helmet coming soon with the bike!

          Thanks for the appreciation man..
And again, i'd say.. i meant no disrespect f0 the bikers..
Okay done.. its time to change my point regarding to the commuter bikes!

And yeah.. R15 is really good when it comes to the real track riding.. its aggressive riding position makes you feel like a racer.. but in long run it is tiring !
CBR 150R looks really nice to me.. but admitted that its price is 10 - 15k more than what it should have been..
CBR 250R doesn't fits my budget, nor it fits my requirements !

And basically you meant to say,
          that R15 v2.0 looks better than CBR 150R?? o.O

I dont know why you keep saying r15 v2 has a skinny a** . I mean its sharp but not skinnier THAN the cbr.
R15 is a better product at lower cost.

Well... let me explain my point!
take a look at the image...
from front(fairings), bike is low, well built & muscular..
then comes the fuel tank.. it receives slight elevation.. and the shape remains muscular..
now comes the rider seat, pillion seat & the rear.. as you can see the rear is extremely skinny, sharp & elevated as compared to the overall muscular body..
And IMO, this rear looks slightly disjoint & ruins the look..
Hope you get my point !

                This helps reduce wind resistance.

Well, for one, as long as there isn't a pillion, the look is great. Pillion ruins the look of the bike. Yamaha should just remove the pillion seat, IMO.

But that design is super aerodynamic. Not only does it reduce the air resistance, it keeps the bike planted at higher speeds. If the bike were any lighter, it could literally take off into the air.

Dude....I had this same confusion a Month before.. Actually i ended up in Cbr 150R and even booked it before test driving it. Then one day i decided to test drive both of them,Here is my experience..

CBR 150R: Definitely a good machine,Revs Freely,Silky smooth engine (I mean it..Btr than R15), Low Torque,Poor quality switch gears, poor turning radius ( My had hit the tanks when i took a U-Turn and cant accelerate ) , Fells really sluggish at 2nd and 3rd Gear due to Low torque, Comfortable ( other than that Turning problem ) ,Gud pillion seats.....

R15 V2: The moment lukd at it, i fell in love.. Was really a beast after seeing CBR 150 R.. Pushed the starter Button and the way it rocketed up in First Gear.....I decided, this is My bike..Really gud torque to overtake in City, One of the best Handling Machine i have ever Driven..It loves to be cornered ( Infact it will make you corner hard everytime you drive ) ,Gud turning radius than CBR 150R ( My hands didnt hit the tank during U-turn and radius was small too compared to CBR ) ,Never felt Sluggish in any gear, Sporty riding Position , Some pain in hand initially till u get used to it ( Due to sporty riding Position ) , poor pillion seats..... Though it can take your friend and GF,It s definitely a NO for Parents...

These are the Pros and cons i found and Finally i choose R15 V2.. And will never regret for making that choice.. CBR 250 is a gud choice,But as u cant extend u r budget, R15 is the Best and it looks skinny for u in the pic because Tyre huger and Number plate holder has been removed and due to the angle at which the photo is taken.. Gud luck

I have removed the mudguard and the bike noways looks puny. Can guarantee that parts are not made out of low quality, dont know about Honda so would not like to comment on that.
