I think the tried and tested Activa would be your best betBiking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

I would still suggest the Activa. After the plant and all, I think the waiting period of Honda has all but disappeared.Originally posted by drsamratroy View Posti took my father along to check on the scooters...have also finalised between either Maestro or Active....friends can u plz state the pros & cons of each....also any comments on TVS Wego???

Yes, you are right, the engine on the 2013 Activa has been upgraded, but what is the practical benefit of it, I do not know.
You can read about the new technology in a visit to the R&D Centre by xBhp Magazine's Chief Editorial Advisor here - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/general-...-launched.htmlBiking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Maestro is based on the pre-2013 Activa. It is slightly heavier (which affects performance adversely) but it is the more masculine looking scooter.Originally posted by drsamratroy View Posti took my father along to check on the scooters...have also finalised between either Maestro or Active....friends can u plz state the pros & cons of each....also any comments on TVS Wego???
As for Activa (and Aviator and Dio), the 2013 versions *supposedly* has better efficiency than the pre-2013 versions

Why don't you try it out yourself? That will give you a better idea.Originally posted by drsamratroy View Postalso some of my friends have asked me to avoid Aviator because of seating problem when two people sit on it...kindly put some light on it...Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

So friends today i went for another bout of exploring the scooter market both online & offline as i do not want to waste my
hard-earned money on some rash decision plus due to my itch of knowing everything about my purchase.i can say i have come
out a bit more enlightened than before.these are my observations on the various scooters currently available in the market which interested
me (not in any order of priority):-
1.Honda Activa - pros: reliable & established,resale value,parts availability,mileage,engine, cons: suspension,ubiquitous,service quality,heavy,
2.Honda Aviator - pros: disk brake, stylish, leg space, cons: service quality, heavy,
3.TVS Wego - pros: handling,weight,fuel tank opening,balance,mileage,tyres,suspension,braking,r ide quality,metal body, cons: pickup,resale value,power,
4.Yamaha Ray - pros: stylish,suspension,handling,compact, cons: newly launched,gender-bias,leg space,storage,
5.Suzuki Access - pros: pickup,power cons: weight,
6.Hero Maestro - pros: engine,digital console cons: withdrawal rumors,heavy
Out of this Wego & Ray interested me the most.also i forgot to check for the parking brake in the scooters except the Activa.please give your inputs & advice.

Given the above choices, I would have picked up Activa anyday. Honda's refinement and reliabilty over long period cannot be replaced. I would have avoided the Ray since its a new launch. My experiences say the new products always have some issues - may be small or big. If you get into some issues, you end up blaming the company. This happened with R15, CBR250R, Duke and NS as well.Originally posted by drsamratroy View PostSo friends today i went for another bout of exploring the scooter market both online & offline as i do not want to waste my

Aviator is not heavy as you perceive. Its a bit taller than Activa. If your father can mange to put the legs down for balance, then it would be a great choice. The handling is a breeze on Aviator due to its 12 inch wheel at the front and front telescopic suspension. Leg space and riding posture is very comfortable. And, it doesn't look youth-oriented or like general scooter. It suits your father better if he can manage the seat height. The engines on Honda are revamped now (remember its already more fuel efficient in the category) for more FE. If you want to be on safe side, better select a Honda.HH Karizma (Current) || CBF Stunner PGM-FI || Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler

I am on the same boat as the thread starter. I see a strong thrust for Activa here. Activa and Wego both have a 110cc motor, how much difference would it really be? I am more inclined towards Wego due to the body balance and the location of the fuel cap.
ps: Since my Dad is 60+, i am not really looking at the best pick-up in this case...

I think TVS Wego would be best option. I have rode Activa, Access, Duro and Wego in gear less bike segment and found Wego is awesome. These are few good and important things which I noticed:
- This scooter looks very stylish and sporty
- Metal Body
- Broad and comfortable seat
- Extra large Tyre
- Easy center stand, so even a 10 years old child can put this scooter on center stand very easily
- Back side easily accessible fuel tank with key without getting down from vehicle
- Great and excursive body balance tech (works fine with solo riding)
- Very low noise engine
- Very comfortable riding (I have rode 150 KM continuously and didn't feel fatigue)
- Superb mileage (I am getting 52-55 always in city. You can't find such a great mileage in other scooter in gear less segment)
My suggestion is Wego would be good for your father. You can ask for test ride from your dealer before buying.

the thing is the scooty will sometimes be used by my sister & mom...so as such the height factor...Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostAviator is not heavy as you perceive.
