pulsar 200 ns or r15
please help me in deciding my next bike i have shortlisted yamaha R15 v2..0 and pulsar 200 ns. i would be riding 50 - 60 km daily and touring of upto 250 km once in a month. 30% of my riding time i will be having pillion. am confused because yamaha is reliable but i feel it wont be good for touring, pulsar is comparitively not reliable but i get bigger engine more bhp and touring friendly bike for almost 30k less.so please sugest is it worth saving those 30k? or i should compromise touring comfort and go for r15. i tested cbr 150 its good but for 12k more then r15, naaa not going for it -

Re: pulsar 200 ns or r15
Well, since pillion comfort and touring capability top your list of priorities, I'd ask you to consider the P220 or the Karizma. The NS can perform admirably in those aspects too,but the pillion would probably not like it very much over long distances. The wind blast would be a problem too. The R15's revised rear seat make it impractical for long distance touring, though it can be done. Just not with ease. Wind blast won't be a problem here. The CBR150R fulfills your needs completely except for outright power and cost.

Re: pulsar 200 ns or r15
@charles.ben, I would recommend that you go for the CBR150R and not the two you have said above. . . I will give you the reasons why, it's got way more comfortable seats than R15 and also 200NS is not fit for long rides as it can also be painful for some issues, it's powerful than R15 but less powerful than 200NS cos it's a smaller engine, it's way more advanced than both of the bikes engine i.e., it has DOHC engine compared to both bikes SOHC engine which is an advancement in the bike. . . The extra 12k what everyone thinks is a waste for CBR150R is for it's DOHC engine (PS: THIS IS NOT MENTIONED BY ALMOST IN MANY REVIEWS WHICH I HAVE READ), just google it out and you'll know what I mean and also it's better than SOHC engine. . . Coming to other points, it's good mileage of around 45-50 kmpl if maintained in a proper condition, not ripping her too much, for your 50 km per day ride and 250 km long ride, it's a good option for you. . . I have ridden all three bikes and I would suggest the CBR150R from overall set of things like easy to handle, eye catchy good looking, great performance, FE, etc,. but the downside for this bike is that it has low quality switch gears, no pass flash switch and no engine kill switch. . . If you would like considering other bikes, then there is the Karizma, a 225cc bike, though it may not have the power of 200 NS but still with a less cost than the 200NS, you will get a bike with good sports touring features, great comfort, good handling and hero's reliability. It's up to you to decide on which is better. . . Ultimately, it's you who should decide which you like, . . That's my opinion and hope you think and make a good decision. . .Originally posted by charles.ben View Postplease help me in deciding my next bike i have shortlisted yamaha R15 v2..0 and pulsar 200 ns. i would be riding 50 - 60 km daily and touring of upto 250 km once in a month. 30% of my riding time i will be having pillion. am confused because yamaha is reliable but i feel it wont be good for touring, pulsar is comparitively not reliable but i get bigger engine more bhp and touring friendly bike for almost 30k less.so please sugest is it worth saving those 30k? or i should compromise touring comfort and go for r15. i tested cbr 150 its good but for 12k more then r15, naaa not going for it

Re: pulsar 200 ns or r15
Thanks Rakesh for taking time and sugesting me few options, actually before posting this thread i have tested almost every bike from unicorn upto CBR 250, after that i narrowed down my choice to these two bikes i mentioned (R15 & 200NS)it was hard rejecting a particular bike because now days we have so many choices
but end of the day i have to buy 1 bike, i have no complains about CBR150 but still i dont think 12k is good enough for DOHC engine (am fully aware of what is SOHC-DOHC being a biker for 14years and a mech eng) i agree DOHC is better, good and latest but CBR losses out in few other things like the box swing arm which is older then the latest alloy swing arm in R15, and the rear suspension setup of both bikes where Yamaha again scores, but again when we talk of Yamaha and Honda there will be nothing to complain about, especially the Engines, both these guys make the best 2 wheeler engines, coming to Karizma..wow i love that bike bro, but the reason i kept it out of my choice list is that it has been for a long time now, were there any new updates coming from the hero camp??? because when i checked the hero website for Karizma ZMR price i had option of selcting just 5 or 6 cities to check Price, when i visited the showroom they told me they dont have a karizma rite now but will get it for me if i book...all this brought a doubt in my mind if Karizma is being pulled out or its being upgraded..so if you or any have friends have any news about this and clear my doubt then am going for Karizma ZMR
and how about the service after Honda Parted from Hero???

Re: pulsar 200 ns or r15
Out of the three bikes mentioned above for long tours with a pillion my first preference will be Hero ZMR, secondly the Pulsar 200NS & thirdly the Yamaha R15

Re: pulsar 200 ns or r15
If you even remotely like your pillion, then, as per calculations, you will not want to subject them to close to 165km of real discomfort ranging from butt aches to a stiff back which will come from sitting on the pillion seat of either the R15 or even the 200NS. Reconsider please!

Re: pulsar 200 ns or r15
I have toured on both and this is what i can say:
R15 - Its an excellent handler and a very good tourer. Perfect choice if ur going to tour alone without much luggage. Not recommended if ur going to tour with pillion. Ur pillion will keep failling on ur and will cause wrist ache for u and back ache for ur pillion.
P200NS - The perfect tourer. Can cruise at 120kmph withiout any problem. Ur pillion wont be uncomfortable during long hauls. if u like, u can also add softer padding on seats. Handles almost as good as R15 and is a treat in ghats. The money you save is good enough for a Laddakh trip

charles.ben - I am in the same dilemma, so wanted to find out if you have purchased any of the bikes that you have mentioned? I currently ride a Pulsar 150 and am looking for something more powerful.Keep Calm and Continue Riding!

Re: pulsar 200 ns or r15
from the 2 bikes.. R15 and NS200.. if you ride solo most of the time.. get R15.. its super awesome when riding solo.. but add a pillion and you would regret it.. for pillion, get NS200..
and you can also look into what other riders have said..
Ride safe and have fun.

Re: pulsar 200 ns or r15
Honestly, I would not go for either bikes. P200 NS as you has a lot of glitches as mentioned by other users. Yamaha R15 is definitely good but would not suit for daily commutes (at least to me) or touring. I would suggest CBR/RE or even an Avenger if you could rethink your options. Good luck!Originally posted by charles.ben View Postplease help me in deciding my next bike i have shortlisted yamaha R15 v2..0 and pulsar 200 ns. i would be riding 50 - 60 km daily and touring of upto 250 km once in a month. 30% of my riding time i will be having pillion. am confused because yamaha is reliable but i feel it wont be good for touring, pulsar is comparitively not reliable but i get bigger engine more bhp and touring friendly bike for almost 30k less.so please sugest is it worth saving those 30k? or i should compromise touring comfort and go for r15. i tested cbr 150 its good but for 12k more then r15, naaa not going for itMy DIY(s) - Sprocket bearing change | Paint job | Custom speedo dial

Re: pulsar 200 ns or r15
It all depends on your need
if you planing for a stylish city alone ride go for r15 but pillon is not good
ns 200 test ride i was not so happy as did nt feel the defenatity male stuff in it
zmr is a good one for a medium level long rides like 400-500kms
if you are ok with cruiser type bike which are really ment for long trips for for avenger ,thunderbird insde city handling avenger is a bit difficult but i recommand avenger because of its looks comfort and relaiablity and cost factor
at the end one piont to be noted fisrt understand your need and then you will be clear about what and which section of bikes ur into ....."Life is all about burning petrol and the most efficient way to do so is by riding a bike"
