Can you guys please compare them with more details ! Damn !! It seems I am asking too much from you people

Should I learn a bike and then buy ? or should I buy and then learn ? I am thinking of taking unicorn at the moment. btw any idea about the availability of the bikes in general at the showrooms ? (any city, better if anyones tells abt hyderabad too)
So you also landed in the exactly same pit of confusion as I am in ...
If you don't know biking at all .. Unicorn is a bit heavy for you .. it's outstanding while running .. but statically it's heavy and any sudden stop can cause problem.

    For comparison:

Unicorn is a tad cheaper than RTR (without FI without rear disc). (~65k on road in Bangalore)
+ves: Very good handler, very refined engine (no sudden jerk because of power thrust), very very smooth gear box(sometime you don't event know that you shifted to top gear), tuf-up(puncture resistant) tubes, mono shocks at the rear, very reliable engine, good built, mileage 45-55, very silent(sometimes you even don't know if it is on or not, could be a prob too).
-ves: heavy, spares a bit costly(though you wouldn't need much of those), a bit big as compared to RTR, missing digital consoles, plain old sober looks(or I say uncle type :P)
-- In Bangalore except all Black one, all others are readily available while black one is available in a week's time.

RTR(w.o. FI w.o. rear disc)(~67k on road in BLR)
+ves: again a very good handler, very compact, light(on handle and as a whole) and flickable, best power:weight ratio to get extra bit of acceleration, build is good(specially like that clip-on handle), best bike for short to medium height people, one of the best digital console, sporty siting position(rearset footpegs), good sport looks.
-ves: Tyres are not as reliable as some of other bikes'(can be changed easily though), a bit of vibrations around 65-70kmph(FI one has lesser and Synthetic oil can also help reduce these), some tappet noise from engine, may not be really good for really long journeys specially if you are tall as you have to bend a bit.

    Enjoy, keep hunting :P.

Are there any problems faced in FZ? I'm looking to use my bike for another 3-4 years and hence need a bike that wont call for more maintenance in the long run.
Does anybody know service levels rendered for various bikes in hyderabad?
      Hey Gautham

Apache RTR is an amazing machine, lots of power, great pickup and gives you a mileage of 50-55 kms/lts how ever if your tall than it might cramp you for room & a lot of vibrations at 7000rpm
Yamaha FZ16 : Amazing looking bike with great pickup (I personally own one) How ever i had a manufacturing defect where in the power coil had to be changed due to which my bike's top speed was only 94-95 kms but now its good. I am having a hard time with bikes milegae as well plus i had a faulty meter which was replaced, nice ride comfort thou.

I suggest you test ride these bikes and then come to a conclusion

Since three of us were in the market for a bike and two of us have made a buy already:
            1). Me - Zma R
            2). Thread starter - Uni

I guess the thread can be deemed closed now.

@chauhan: Why don't you start a new thread and update us as to which bike you've finalised on?
I'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me Superman.

He already has a thread, but looks like he postponed his buying decision!

                  pulsar 220 DTS-FI or 220 DTS-I

I will be getting my first bike, and as u people out here will know its a great feeling.

                  but i am really confused between the two pulsars....220 DTS-FI & 220 DTS-I.

i want to go in for the DTS-FI cause its technologically more advanced than the existing bikes!

also i dont care about mileage, but the thing that worries me is that what if a 220 DTS-FI 2009 edition is in the pipeline.

so all u great bikers out here pls help me 2 choose, and explain the pros of DTS-FI over the DTS-I!

They have discontinued the Fi variant due to its high price. I don't think they would be bringing it again in the near future. So you are left with the DTS-i. Go for it!

Do not give out wrong information!!

The Dts-Fi variant still is very much in production and is available for sale across PBK's.
