    Hello Xbhpian's,

I am in the verge of buying a bike for my daily commute to office. 70kms a day. (35 kms in the day + 35 kms in the night) 80% of the distance on National Highways NH & State Highways SH. Roads are damn good. I own a RX 135 4speed second hand ( 1999 Model) Done more than 75K kms on it till date. I just love my RX 135. I was looking for a new bike in the 150cc+ category which effortless cruises between 80 - 100 Km/hr.

Let me tell you how i chose to the final contenders.

HH CBZ Xtreme - Not convinced with the styling. So ruled it out.
HH Hunk - Same as above. So ruled it out too.

TVS Apache RTR/FI - Nice looks. But not comfortable with pillions ( mother & Wife).

Bajaj Pulsar 150/180 - I have a personal experinece with one of my friends Pulsar 150. Engine sound not good after 40K kms. Doesn't even match my RX 135 engine.

Bajaja Pulsar 200 - Liked it when i borrowed my frineds bike for 2 days to commute. But a bit hesitant because of the 150/180 engine refinement.

Honda Unicorn - I love it to the core. Beautiful engine. The engine never behaves harsh. What a marvel.

Yamaha FZ16 - Beautiful looks. No kick Starter ( How Realiable is it). No Pillion comfort. Many say only good for City.

HH ZMA - Like it. May be my chcoice. Just a temptation because of the better power to weight ratio then the unicorn.

Bullet Machismo 350cc - My younger brother had one. So myself done 15K kms on it. Not happy as it is too heavy and terrible vibrations post 80KM/hr.

So Plz help me to decide between Unicorn / FZ16/ ZMA. MY priorities are 1) Ride Comfort 2) Perfomance 3) Mileage (>40KMPL)

    Thanks
    Elango

Looks like ZMA to me. 3nm additional torque matters especially when u want to cruise 70 kms a day.

I have never experienced ZMA for more than 5 kms in a stretch. How is the comfort level. Am i prone to back ache's? I am 5'9'' tall weighs 72 Kgs.

When i happened to ride it for a a short stretch. I experinced a mild pain my palms & shoulders. Is it because of the sporty riding postion.

That is because ur body isnt used to the riding position. A guy riding zma for long time tries out a RX 135 for short strech, he would feel discomfort, pain here and there too!. Just have to get used to it for a few days and then its a breeze.

Riding CBZ for long time and when added zma to my stable, though both the bikes have almost same riding position, had pain in my thighs for few days just cos zma was like 15kilos heavier, slightly large tank to grab!. But now alls fine

Well, I'v been used to a Shogun... and then bought a CBZ-x. The CBZ gives me back pain on long rides... still does... after nearly a year. The Shogun dosen't!

Can you tell me about the Head light. How good is it in the night. Is the spread good. Also i am not used to the half fairing on the ZMA.

Its decent enough and u can directly plonk a 55/60W blub. Some ppl are even running with 90/100w bulb with out any modification.

Thanks for the info. I am not very concerned abt the mileage. I am not a rip rash rider. But would ride it fast. Say constantly cruising between 60 - 90 Km/hr. But would like to know where the figures hovers around on a Highway.

Zma is the best for u as it has power n comfort for ur 70 km commute but if ur more concerned with mileage then Uni is also as comfortable as Zma .

Should be around 35kmpl. Can post in Karizma/Karizma-R thread to get more info on details.

Unicorn is my choice if i was in your shoes. The 2 main reasons being

ZMA gives you a mileage of 35kmpl and Uni gives you 55KMPL.

and if its comfortable cruising then the power difference between the 2 wont matter till you wanna test the top end performance. i feel the Uni is more refined than the ZMA.

don't even think twice.!.! go fr the ZMA if u don't mind a mileage of 35-38kmpl... excellent ride and handling!!
although the pillion might experience discomfort in getting on and off the pillion seat due to height of the seat. make sure you keep that into consideration. however once aboard, the only discomfort the pillion might feel would be the exhilaration.!!!!
