Re: A motorcycle for 2L.
I thank all for your suggestions and wishes..
Finally found time to write down my experience on my CBR's delivery from maanasarover honda.
The delivery process was terrible.
I got a call from the sales manager on thursday(28/11/13) at 4PM stating that my bike is ready for delivery and temp registration has been done.
Went to maanasarovar honda on monday(2/12/13) at 12PM after calling the sales guy who was handling the insurance & reg. process of my bike.
It was raining at tambaram so me & my bro took a cab to the showroom.
On arrival, we were asked to wait for 1 hour so that the service guy could take the bike for temp reg.
On hearing that, we were furious and asked the sales manager why he confirmed the bike to be ready.
He apologized for miscommunication and the sales guy took the trace of chassis no. & said that the temp no. will be issued by 6PM the same day.
The bike was sent for a wash after which teflon coating was done.
Shiny! Ain't it?
And the sticker guy at service bay cleaned the tank and applied the tank pad.
Waited for another 30min for the CBR service guy to return after lunch break before which i had done a short PDI(points from aargee's blog) and found the following,
1. Engine oil was at the min. mark.
2. right RVM screw was loose.
3. chain wasn't lubed.
After these were rectified, the service guy took the bike to the delivery section while we were at the reception collecting the insurance, invoice & gate pass.
We went to the bike at the delivery section and found that the silencer guard was scratched
. Then again called the manager & to take a look.
The service guy again took the bike to the service area and tried to fit the guard from another bike, i asked him to install a new one which took another 20min..
Then asked for the user manual, tools kit & first aid which were brought after 15min.
When asked for free goodies, the sales manager showed me a small table clock with honda written on it.
I asked for a helmet and he handed me a studds open face helmet. Upon insisting he gave me a full face one which i'm wearing in the pic(though this helmet will be used only with honda activa).
Atlast the sales guy rushed to me saying that I have not yet paid for the teflon coat. I asked him politely, where the f*** were you till now?(literally) & also added not a peny will be given from my side. He then went to the sales manager & the sales manager asked me not to pay for the teflon.
Finally got the bike out at 4.30PM went for a test ride & my mind was eased
.
Took the bike to the Sivan temple at velachery for a pooja.
My plan was to take the bike to the tyre dealer for replacement of contigos.
But as my bro was late for his office, we headed to MEPZ where i had 2 bajjis & a coffee as my lunch at 5.45PM.
At 6PM called up Siremull tyres(tyrestore.in) to check whether they will be open. The reply was positive & added the closing time as 7PM.
So started at 6PM from MEPZ towards greams road. The traffic was heavy from guindy to saidapet after which it was manageable. Reached the tyre store at 6.45PM and the manager was waiting for me there. He was very polite and also gave suggestions for some addons to the bike.
I was quoted 9.7K for Michelin pilot street radials(both front and back) stock CBR size(F-110/70-17, R-140/70-17).
The contigos were run for 61km(odo) & the manager offered 3K for the contigo pair.
I was determined to get rid of the contigos so after few minutes of nego. he made it 3.5K. This was my expected price for the contigos so i was okay with it and confirmed to change the tyres.
The last pic of my CBR with contigos,
The tyre change,
Finally the new rubbers on my angel..
About the ride;
I don't find it hard to flick/manoeuvre in heavy traffic.
Even with a pillion, speeds below 10kmph is manageable without much effort.
Engine heat is felt easily in city traffic(though the temp. bar shows only 3bars) not sure as of yet on highway.
The engine asks for more when 5K RPM is reached. It's hard to hold myself
, but practicing it.
After a 20min. ride I feel pain on my elbows, guess it'll go away with time.
About the tyres;
The moment i took off from the tyre shop the ride felt lighter, smooth & easily flickable than with contigos.
I was on my way from vadapalani to tambaram at 11.45PM and as it rained earlier that day the roads were wet so it's time to check the grip of my new tyres.
A guy on a duke 200 accompanied me from vadapalani till airport.
The roads were shining with a sheet of water. After crossing ashok pillar one-way road I leaned over at the sharp left(the road was wet with gravel) though was not fully confident i had faith on the michs. To my suprise the bike was well planted without any sign of loosing the line even if gone steep.
Without knowing myself, I was like
On reaching tambaram, parked my CBR at my bro's home and got back to my workplace(perambalur)
.
Distance covered on the day of delivery : 85km; odo : 101km
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
Since my bro had to go straight to his office, i didn't remove it. Will be done next week.Originally posted by joeantony View PostIt would look much prettier if you remove the saree guard.
Yes I'll be riding it to sivakasi myself but post first service. Planning on completing the first 1000km inside chennai.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View Postare you going to drive it all the way to your home town? sorry if I missed out.. I had a clue that you don't stay in Chennai
The Honda showroom opp to MEPZ is quite small but they do help you out..
The Honda showroom opp to MEPZ did not have black ABS and the waiting period was 30~45 days. So went to Maanasarover honda, Velachery.Last edited by Shiv_beam; 12-07-2013, 02:29 PM.

I haven't done wheel alignment.Originally posted by siddharthsure View PostWhere exactly is this tyre shop?? They have MRF?? And how was the wheel alignment done?
They had ceat, pirelli(100 or 110 section), MRF revz but don't remember the size and a whole lot of car tyres..
When entering greams road from mount road, after crossing apollo hosp. have an eye towards the left you'll see a large michelin board.
Google siremull hirachand tyrestore for exact location.
