Maybe jeevan.life can throw some light, 'have seen his tyres in action.

Shiv, MRFs come in few CBRs factory fitted. I would say you pressurise your dealer to get you a bike with MRFs. If they dont have it, enquire elsewhere. You may need to cancel bookings, wait for stock etc. Trust me the wait is worth.

If you are going for an after market tyre, why MRF? Try Michellin. They have Pilot sporty I guess and have heard very good review from CBR owners about them.

If you want Mrfs specifically, I suggest that you buy thr bike with factory fitted tyres instead of spending extra money which you can use for other stuff.

I guess the MRFs for CBR are on hold either due to the strike or HMSI is clearing out the Contigos..

I made a whole round around chennai in search of a dealer who can assure me to get CBR with MRF wheels.. But i failed.
So Michelin it is!!

I too looked around a lot for MRFs and went through booking cancellations and lot of fights with ASCs. Few lots come with MRFs and a little bit of patience and constant follow up can get you MRFs.

If you have the cash then do go for tyre change, else you can try the Contis for a while and decide.

OT : I've been following the 250r ownership thread for quite a long time I remember you trying to decide between duke n CBR. And you were searching for CBR with mrf tyres in banglore, luckily you were able to find one on the red monster with ABS(IIRC). Had coolant leakage on the first day right?

After reading many horror stories from the 250R thread i've decided to get rid of the Contigos ASAP.. If i'm lucky, i might get a discount from the Michelin dealer on handing over the contigos to him..

Yes, I am the one (Sheesh,, I thought I was under cover). Well few members in CBR thread have found new batch of contis to be better (not saying good). It is your personal preference on tyre swap. And if you have decided, then go for Michelin. I am sure that the CBR will impress you with amazing confidence in handling and eating up those twisties with ease .

And BTW, congrats and welcome to the CBR club. Ride safe .

Re: A motorcycle for 2L.

Congrats for the CBR

Even I am not able to find any with MRF here in Kolkata. Lots of CBR in ready stock but none with MRF and the dealers have no idea if and when they are going to get the next MRF batch.

How much does the Michelin pair cost? (without tyre swap that is)

I just made inquiry through phone. My guess is it'll set me back by 10.5K. I'll b happy if I'm able to get 3.5 to 4k discount on getting rid of the contigos.

Re: A motorcycle for 2L.

Update : Went to Maanasaroever honda yesterday and made the full payment.
I was allowed to ride the bike from the stockyard at porur to velachery. The bike had 1Km on the odo and the shed incharge said 3 litres of fuel was filled in, but the fuel indicator was still blinking. Upon insisting he filled in another litre on which the blinker stopped. Fired the baby up & it came to life without any hesitation and started grunting.
I let it on idle for 5 minutes & the engine heated up to 3 bars. My next mission was to fill in some more fuel & check the tire pressure.
As i started to ride, I had an eye on the tacho to maintain the RPM between 4000 to 5000. The engine was soo smooth & urged me to push the bike more. I managed to control my desire to rev, shifted at 4.5K RPM and varied the RPM in all gears, allowed engine braking. While crossing the porur signal, i can feel a lot of eyes on me .
Rode to the next shell bulk, the petrol cap was struck & struggled a bit to make it open. Filled in another Rs.200 worth petrol on which the fuel gauge came upto 3 bars. So initially they really have filled in 3 litres of petrol.
Then started riding again , after leaving the petrol bulk i realised that i forgot to check the tyre pressure. Again pulled over at the next bulk & checked the pressure, the front was at 27psi & rear at 26psi made it 29 and 30 resp. and started up the baby and i heard the radiator fan started spinning, which made me grin.

Rideability: I can't really complain on the rideability within chennai traffic. The bike was easily flickable for me & speeds below 10kmph was manageable. May be with a pillion i might find it a bit hard..

Heat : I was able to feel the heat through the denim jean while waiting at the signal, but not while riding at low speeds.

On reaching the showroom, I thanked the manager & asked him not to add any sticker on the bike anywhere. Which he agreed after a lot of questions.
Also asked him whether they would do the following if i bring it to them,
1. replace the visor with tinted one
2. paste rim sticker
3. radiator guard
And the answer was positive.

A few pics for now...

Update : Will be getting the bike in a week after temporary registration & insurance.
For temp. reg. i was asked only a copy of the ration card with my native address on it & a couple of passport size photos.

Air pressure per manual is 29/29 for single and 29/32 with pillion.

Heat will comedown gradually, and post first service it will not be an issue. But during run in it produces heat.

Happy riding and have fun

Looks like you have completely missed what actually can be more enjoyable on two wheels so far. Hit. The twisters. Ride to the higher altitudes, May be that's the first think you wanna do once you get your New machine

Do you mean the twisties uphill during run-in?

Yeah I mean twisties bro, it was a typo as I am typing on phone.

I am saying in general not just for run in. Because you said you are riding 50% city and 50% highways. That's boring I think.

Have a great time.let the good time roll!
