  • 150cc dilemma

Im thinking to buy my first ever bike from the 150cc segment. I've shortlisted following bikes-

    FZ 16
    Unicorn
    Hunk
    CBZ Extreme
The New Suzuki GS150R a.k.a Lanza

    I look for (by priority)-

    1) Mileage >50 kmpl
    2) Comfortable ergonomics for rider and pillion (this matters on long ride)
    3) Smoooth engine
    4) Great looks, styling

I had previously Uni in my mind but since the GS is launched, it gathered my attention on it. According to Bike India Jan issue, it seems impressive. Just little behind Uni on smoothness. But has great styling, attractive digital console, 6 speed, etc, etc.

So what do you guys suggest ? And yes- shall be good in cities and on highways.

    Thanks already.

FZ is out of question straight away after first of ypur priority .. gives avg ~40kmpl
CBZ, Hunk and Unicorn has almost same engine specs .. but unicorn has the most smooth engine in the lot. As per me style wise: FZ > Hunk > GS > Cbz > Unicorn.

So overall GS is overall the best suited bike for you until unless you feel it bulky as I felt.

why Hunk > GS man....? ohh but this is ur personal opinion.

Im looking a kinda "all-rounder" bike which has-

Style of FZ (actually not of FZ but somewhat near to it)
        Smoothness and comfort of Uni
and of course mileage of Uni too.
        Manly like Cbz.

According to reviews GS suits my requirements. Should be good for commuting as well as highway riding. What say ?

Yes, GS is manly, has avg, comfort and smoothness of unicorn, looks good and as per your question it seems that you place it second to only FZ. GS is overall really good bike comprising goods from different worlds. It would suite just fine .. on highway it's 6th gear will be a boon .. Justr only thing you should consider is the bulky body, heavy weight of the bike but it's not too much different from 3 of your choices CBZ(143kg), Hunk/Unicorn(146kg).

Only the GS and the Unicorn will manage more than 50 kmpl in city driving. I would personally recommed the GS to u

The GS suits your requirements best...It leaves the Unicorn way behind in terms of new age features, with a similar kind of appeal.

OK about the weight, sorry for being dumb but Im a newbie to the world of bikes.

What can be the effects of heavy weight ? positive and negative.

If not GS, I will blindly hug Uni but since GS is added with just 3 kgs. Should not make much noticeable difference I think. What u say ?

Just came from the showroom. GS is awesome bike ! Really balanced with all features and specs. Nothing in particular it lacks or only it has ! Rather its only having 6 gears. Best suitable for my requirements. I did not find it bulky as chauhan in fact when I first tried Uni its more bulky (my perception). The indicators, head, tail lamps, meter console look very classy and elegant. The "phang phang" horn is loud and sounds more manly, energetic than "pep pep" of Unicorn, again my own thought. Overall its featureswise very balanced, stylish yet classy bike. Ideal for those having requirements like me. They did not allow test ride not even sitting on it. I have to wait till 2nd week of Feb for this when they will start delivering. Costs 68,000 on road here at Pune. Anyways thanks everybody.

You weren't even allowed to sit on the Zuki and you found it to be less 'bulky' than a Uni..??
